We asked for a good breakfast place and Morty's was recommended. I was skeptical about trying a bar for breakfast but since we were starving, we decided to try it. So happy we did. We ordered two different things and shared. Both were great. Since it's a bar, I enjoyed a mimosa with breakfast. It is what it is and that's a sports bar, so don't expect more. If you want to watch ESPN and eat a great breakfast, then it's for you. As for us, we look forward to returning on our next trip to Spokane.
Review Source:Morty's has become our new favorite Sunday morning breakfast spot. Â So far everything we have tried has been great. We adore Peggy who is usually on duty Sunday mornings waiting tables. Â One morning we started talking about our favorite meal, biscuits and gravy, with bacon and eggs.
After much conversation with Peggy on how we all like ours, we came up with a new twist and she has now named it eggs Erich. Â What she has the cook do is the biscuits and gravy, only she has them scramble the eggs, dice up the bacon, put it on the biscuits and then pour the country gravy on top.
This is to die for! Â Check it out if you love biscuits and gravy for breakfast.
Finally! Â I found a breakfast spot on the South Hill worthy of my very reasonable standards of properly prepared food, and good service. Â I am SO tired of the SH restaurants who simply do not give a damn wether your food is served with pride or not. Â And you know who you are in Lincoln Heights.... who consistently throw crap food at their customers, we customers who keep trying over and over to allow you another chance to earn their loyalty! Â No More! Â Morty's whipped up a super breakfast for my grandson and I. Â The place was clean and friendly...they actually seemed to want our buisness! Â The spuds and eggs were great, cooked to perfection. Â And the sausage patties were excellant and FRESHLY COOKED! Â Not retrieved from the back 40 burner like some other place in Lincoln Heights. Each to his own. Â From now on, I will frequent plain old Morty's, metal machine shop decor and all. Â Nature abhors a vacumm, and inevatably, someone emerges to serve good pup food with pride and attention to details, where the regions long time operators have stopped caring.
Review Source:This is officially my first review since moving to Spokane a couple of months ago. Â I've been mainly a reader of other Yelper's reviews than a reviewer myself so I figure it's about time I become a part of the cheering section/peanut gallery.
Went to Morty's yesterday for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised and thoroughly satisfied. Â We chose them mainly because they serve breakfast until 1pm (everyday!) and it's also right in our 'hood. Â
Our server was efficient and very friendly. Â My bf asked her if she could change one of the tv's to the b-ball game and she was nice enough to scroll through a gazillion sports stations to find it for us. Â Having been a server myself for many years, I really appreciated it since I know how channel changing can take away from servicing your station. Â
We both had Benedicts: he had the Louie with hash browns and I had the California with the country potatoes. Â Bf cleared his plate which shows how much he enjoyed it. Â I switched out the cheese sauce for hollandaise and it was delish! Â The avocadoes were perfectly fresh and tomatoes sliced not too thick. Â Turkey was great, not that cheap processed stuff. Â My only critique would be that part of my english muffin was a bit soggy, probably from the poached egg, and I honestly can't say that I minded pushing that little bit to the side. Â But what really made me happy were the potatoes: perfectly cooked and seasoned! Â Halleluyah!! Â Really though, how many times have you had jacked up potatoes because they were just thrown on the plate like an afterthought? Â
All in all a great first visit to Morty's. Â We will definitely be back and am looking forward to being able to add that coveted 5th star to my next review!
They get a two because of the downright horrible beer selection. Twelve taps and here is a partial list of the beer...
Fat tire
Bud Lite
Coors Lite
Kokanee
Hamms
Blue Moon
Now I don't want to begrudge those who are low on cash or just don't want a beer with some flavor, but dam, just next door and down the street I can get numerous types of great local and Craft Beers.
The only one here worth a dam is Manny's. Yes they do have Alaskan Amber but really that should go on the list above.
It is really a bummer because this is a great place with a nice outdoor area and some pretty nice people. I hope they fix this soon.
We only had a couple of Apps which were pretty good but way overpriced for the amount served. On the plus side the Cole Slaw was amazing.
Our waitress was super friendly and pretty helpful.
Great pub designed for folks looking for a great tasty meal on a budget. I stopped in today & had the house special Steak & Bake for 10 bucks-you can't beat that with a stick!
I've read a couple rather negative reviews, & I can honestly report outstanding service and great eats. They've got a few rotating handles for beers with great diversity for anyone looking for craft beers as well as plain domestics.
Stopped in just to chat with a friend, and ordered a few drinks for company!
I saw that they offered "Moose Drool" which I had read so much about on Kath's blog (<a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2FKatheats.com&s=6d023e8da6566edac0c6905a1703268434a8fc53781d1371cc750264455b29d8" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://Katheats.com</a>) so I knew I had to try it. Â Definitely a good one! Â I have just recently started enjoying brews so I like to experience different ones.
The atmosphere here was laid back and friendly, just what we needed for some good convo.
Always friendly service, usually fast, too. They keep the place pretty clean, which is a big deal to me. The beer selection isn't huge, but there's always at least a couple good ones on tap and the prices are reasonable. The food is nothing special, but it's reliably decent and prices aren't bad. Daily food and drink specials means there's usually a good deal. Overall I'd say Morty's is the best bar on South Hill. Great service and specials; I hardly go anywhere else on South Hill.
Review Source:Ok. So many times we review the food, bar, atmosphere, etc......But today I am giving them 5 stars for service above and beyond.
I ordered a beer (Manny's draft, very good, like home brew) and chili dog. Â The chili dog was downright cool, room temp. Â I mentioned it to Mike the Bar Man. Â He took it to the kitchen and was back in 10 minutes with twice the size of the plate (lots of food) I had ordered to start with. Â Michael in the kitchen, "props" to you buddy, it was great. Â Mike the Bar Man, also came back with another Manny's, and told me the food and the fresh beer were comp for the trouble and wait.
These folks treated me great.....straightened out an issue and made me a loyal customer. Â Thanks to the Mike and Michael Team at Morty's
Decent bar, they make nice, strong drinks, but they don't have a huge selection of beer on tap.
Wings are meh, fries are tasty but the ranch they served was very watery.
It was nice to be able to finish watching the WSU game and there were plenty of fans there.
The service was pretty slow, and it wasn't that busy. Â
Overall, it was a nice place to have beers with friends, but there are better hang out spots.
The menu features bar fare with pizazz with tasty offering such as Alaskan Amber, hand-dipped halibut and chips, steak kebobs and a variety of specialty hot wings. Morty's is a great place to watch sports. This is some really good food. Who says you can't go gourmet while watching a Sunday beating? The Korean stir-fry, slow-roasted prime rib dinner and shrimp ravioli is a dead giveaway that Morty's serves gourmet grub. Even with the fancy food, prices are reasonable and nothing, including the Surf & Turf is over $15. Appetizers averaging around $5 and lunch coming in under $8 means you don't have to spend a lot to enjoy above-average bar food.
Morty's Tap & Grille is a neighborhood bar with a modern décor. The panel walls echo that of a manor estate that contrast nicely with the cool hammered steel-top tables. There's an abundance of conveniently scattered TVs and comfortable seating making this not only a great place to watch the game, but a place to hang out at and enjoy a fantastic meal. But when you throw in the neon beer signs, a couple pool tables and a decorated Moosehead, you've got guys wishing Morty's was in their basement.
Oh, and lest not we forget it's a sports bar. Morty's features 15 televisions playing all the games, all the time, including the Sunday Ticket, ESPNU and all the NFL matchups that attract posses of Chargers, Seahawks and Raiders fans to name drop a few. There are pull tabs, video games and a nice patio with heaters.
Even with the gourmet grub, you get the feeling everything is still designed to go well with a cold one. If you're here for the beer, There are a dozen on tap, perfectly chilled bottles and great pitcher specials for Monday Night Football and the Saturday college games. Morty's also features a full bar with all-day Sunday Happy Hour featuring $2.50 wells. This neighborhood Bar & Grille atop the South Hill makes watching your team lose almost bearable.
