What a great find in Evergreen! Â We stopped in for a treat for the kids and weren't disappointed. The cinnamon roll was worth it alone. The owner also had fresh baked Gluten Free cookies to offer. We didn't try the coffee this time around but will be back!
Great comfy little place to take a break.
I have returned again since my last review and I had noticed a much better environment. My sandwich was delicious and made by an employee wearing gloves, which made me feel much at ease. This will be my new hangout this summer. It's definitely an awesome location and staff is very friendly. There deck is absolutely gorgeous!
Review Source:Dropped in for a warm beverage and afternoon snack after roaming about the Evergreen Lake House.
Loved their tasty GINORMOUS cinnamon buns! Definitely would come back to eat another one of those. Their coffee was fine, but 10 minute wait for drip coffee is a bit much. Seemed like they were training some new staff so hopefully that will improve.
Other notes:
* Really liked how they kept the inside very recognizable to the old hotel decor - nice and cozy!
* There was live music going on next door that had me intrigued.
* There were also dog treats at the coffee doctoring station - great idea!
The chicken quesadilla was honestly the best I've ever had. Â Crispy bacon, gooey cheese, huge chunks of juicy chicken breast, and a side of freshly made guacamole. Â It was more than enough for a meal, reasonably priced, and the staff couldn't have been nicer. Â Next time I go to Evergreen I'll definitely be eating here again.
Review Source:My friends live in Evergreen, CO, and they suggested I go here--it was a charming little place. Â I was heading to Denver but thought I'd stop in before I went. Â It was adorable! Â It turns out I met the new owner, it was her first day on the job. Â They had affordable breakfast options, so I got a pumpkin late and then an order of Migas for $4 (I learned about Migas on the Pioneer Woman's website--http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2008/0Â9/ree-drummond-migas/--a scrambled egg dish with peppers, onions and fried corn tortillas). Â The migas absolutely hit the spot (espcially for the price!) and they were just the right size. The pumpkin latte (I've been drinking them all over Denver on my vacation) was hot and not super sweet. Â
The Ice House itself is so cute and historic--it has a lot of charm and a great vibe. Â And I hear they have an open mike night on Thursdays and Fridays!
The sandwiches were five stars. Â I had the Cuban with a side of slaw, and my companion had a West Coast Reuben (turkey with slaw plus the salad dressings) with a side of potato salad.
The desserts we had were four stars. Â I had a large good brownie and my companion had the lemon bar. Â Not bad.
The coffee was two stars. Â Not very strong and lukewarm. Â It was expensive for the serving size.
The atmosphere was great. Â Lovely looking cafe.
My biggest complaint was the speed of the food. Â It took a long time for our sandwiches. Â Everyone we spoke with was polite and friendly, though. Â Next time I'm in Evergreen I'll stop for a sandwich as long as I have plenty of time and good company.
This is a great little-known gem of a restaurant in downtown Evergreen. Â You can sit there for 2 hours and talk, eat, and people watch, unlike some other downtown restaurants that hurry you out the door. Â Be sure to try the Charlie P sandwich--love the home-made olive tapenade and turkey. Â And the potato salad is to die for! Â The sandwiches are huge so there's always some to take home and eat later.
Review Source:We're fortunate here in Evergreen to have this place -- a true independent, small-town place serving up awesome coffee, food, "adult beverages," and atmosphere. Â As if that's not enough, it's also a place to see great music, hang with friends, do a little remote work curled up in a comfy chair, and just get a genuine smile when you need one. Love this place.
Review Source:In addition to their great atmosphere, friendly baristas, and delicious coffee, their internet connection is also top notch. Â I'm a full-time remote employee, so this means I'll be a regular here during business hours. :)
