Always a fan of Mum's. Â The place usually draws a decent crowd. I always enjoyed watching Sunday baseball in the summer. Â Cheap taps. Â With the garage door open, it's like you outside, but you're really bellied up at a bar. Â The popcorn is always a plus, as well as being able to bring my Blue Bricks food on over. Â (They don't serve food, so they allow this.) Â They have a great array of bar games, decent staff, and a great owner.
Gotta love the "indoor" tree too. Â Surprised it survived the smoking era - Ha :)
I was out on their patio relaxing in the sun yesterday. Â Why Mum's, when there are 5 or 6 other patio's within 50 yards? Â Because Mum's is the cheapest place to drink in downtown Mankato. Â It's so cheap that students don't usually hang out here, rather it's down on their luck 40-50 somethings with drinking problems. Â
I don't care, I'll sacrifice ambiance for $1.50 tap beer. Â They don't serve food, but they let you bring your own food into the bar. Â I ordered some wings from BW3's and enjoyed them with my $1.50 Miller Lite taps. Â It's better than paying $4.50 for the same tap beer at BW3's.
Also, they have free popcorn, several pool tables and darts inside. Â One time, there was this fat asshole, who claimed to be Glen Taylor's son at the bar. Â He kept showing off his roll of 20's to everyone in the bar and was driving a Hummer, so he may have been telling the truth. Â He seemed to be too big of a fuck up to have at least $500 in cash and an expensive SUV. Â He was bragging that he was pulled over for swerving when he was getting a bj from hot blond chick, and that the cops let him go, despite the booze on his breath because they knew who he was. Â He also kept tossing $1 bills on the ground, because they don't mean shit to him. Â He would buy a round of drinks for all the ladies and then toss any singles he had on the ground.
