Mustang Sally's

The atmosphere here is great, but that is the only redeeming quality I could find at Mustang Sally's. The newly rehabbed building is very nicely decorated with great finishings. It would have been wonderful if one of the eight staff members had bothered to keep the place clean. When we arrived, there was only one clean table in the place, and it wasn't especially busy. All of the staff appeared to be young high school students. They spent more time congregated around the fountain soda machine than actually working. By the time we left, NONE of the dirty tables we spotted on the way in were clean. With such an enormous staff for a place with eighteen tables, of which eight were occupied, one would think that someone would know how and make the time to clean a table.

The Service.....
Was a little weird. The server brought our menus, and had we not spotted the specials on a sign on the way in, we would never have known about them. There was no insert in the menu, nor did the server mention them.  Our waiter continually came to the table and asked if we needed refills. Usually, that's a good thing, but he asked when our glasses were more than half full. He did this several times. When you have a full glass, why would you want a refill? It was really strange. Also, when our food arrived, he dropped by to ask how we were enjoying the food after only a bite or two. It was just odd.

The Food......
I ordered a BLT with fries. It is really hard to screw up a BLT, but Mustang's kitchen managed it well. The mayo was separated and oily. The bacon had not been drained well and there were pools of grease on the curls. It was really gross. The lettuce was plain iceberg and was flavorless and floppy. I know that it isn't tomato season, but I've seen better tomatoes at fast food joints. The fries would have been great had they also not been so greasy. It was really disgusting. The plate even had a large grease smear across the lip and center where the food was slid onto the plate by the kitchen. I couldn't eat any of it. I tried, but it was all just so flavorless, and I was afraid of that mayo.

I did not bother to complain to any of the staff, as I said before, they all looked like high-schoolers and seemed very inexperienced. Also, I was dining with family, so I didn't want to make a big deal out of it.

It's kind of sad, really. The menu is great, the restaurant is great, but the inexperienced wait staff and kitchen drag this place down.
