We just went with a large group of people (20) food and service was great. Our only complaint is that we were told it all had to be on one check. So imagine trying to split up a $600 bill between 20 people. It was kind of awkward and was a bit of a downer after a fun night and good food. Besides that, 4.5 stars
Review Source:The quality of the food at this 100+ year old inn and restaurant is top drawer. Â Service is more relaxed and welcoming than refined and uptight. Wine selection is ok, but the owner was kind enough to provide a suggestion after he saw us scouring the closeout list of bottles for a hidden gem. Â The potato and parsnip soup is very good. Â The soup, homey atmosphere, and histroric decor are enough to have me returning next time I'm in town for a deer hunt or fishing trip. Â The Chicken Wisconsin was satisfying. Â Meatloaf looked good too.
Review Source:If you ever happen to be in the town of Salamanca, this is a great choice. It is a steakhouse and inn that has been around for over 100 years. I stopped here after a long drive and had a great meal. I wasn't up for a steak but their selection of steaks, chops, veal, etc. was pretty impressive.
I ended up going with the chicken wings (when in Rome) and a burger with onion ring, bacon, and bbq sauce. Their burgers are charbroiled and it was 8 ounces, cooked just right (medium). Very flavorful and juicy. If their steaks are anything like the burgers, then it is definitely a find. The wings were great. I couldn't finish my food but really wanted to.
The decor is homey and everyone else in the restaurant seemed to know each other. But I guess that would be expected if the food is good and you are in a small town.
