I'm sure the sandwiches here are just fine but, honestly, I've never eaten one here. Â (I'm sure they're every bit as good as those at The Artichoke.) Â We always go for the breakfast. Â Sizable portions and delicious all the way around. Â In my opinion, they should remove the word "sandwiches" from their name and replace it with "breakfast". Â As for the service, this is a small town restaurant with a strong cafe feel. Â Everyone is nice enough. Â No one has ever been rude. Â My order has been perfect every time and we've never been disappointed. Â If you're looking for a waiter or waitress to act like they're your BFF, then maybe you should go to Yia Yia's or Chile's. Â This place is about the food, and the one thing they DID get right in their name is the word "A-Maize-N. Â We'll definitely be back...again and again.
Review Source:I suspected foul play when I looked at the menu of Nancy's and realized it's the spitting image of The Artichoke, but real life is not a Hardy Boys paperback, and it turns out the two restaurants are related. Why Nancy's felt they needed to base their menu on The Artichoke's (or vice-versa, whichever the case may be), I don't know. While the 'Choke is a dive bar that serves pretty good sandwiches out a pretty small kitchen, Nancy's doesn't have the same appeal, and while the latter also has a very small bar and serves alcohol, it's more of the backwoods type of place you expect to find on your way to somewhere better. There's little need to visit the Maize location if you live anywhere close to the one in Wichita, as it has the better atmosphere and the benefit of not being all the way the hell out there in Maize.
If you do happen to live in Maize, however, Nancy's is quite the local hangout, and I think their sandwiches - no matter how A-Maize-N they claim to be - are actually second fiddle to their daily specials, in which they seem to find their creativity and a means to set them apart from their dive bar brethren.

  When I discovered your restaurant I was so excited!  I actually returned two times that week to satisfy my PURPLE TURKEY craving.  Since then I have also tried other things and although not as good as the PURPLE TURKEY, still pretty darn good.  Neat, small-town, family owned feel.
Highly recomend for a fun lunch destination! Â Can't wait to try the breakfast, the menu looks amazing!
It's just OK. Not that great. I hear the sandwiches on here are like the ones at the Artichoke in Wichita. Well, I have to say I prefer the Artichoke! I ate at this place twice, and was not impressed with the food either time. I also felt that for the price I didn't get a very big sandwich. Â I do have an issue that I saw both times I went to Nancy's... The plastic gloves people wear in the kitchens are supposed to be so the customers know their food is being prepared with clean hands. I thought. So why do the people wearing these gloves still have them on when they wander over to the storage locker or whatever, and get out their purse, and rummage through it? And then went back to the kitchen with the same pair of gloves! Same for leaving them on when you use the register/handle money, which is really dirty, folks! Â Doesn't sound very sanitary to me. Blech....there's better places to get sandwiches in Maize than here. Drive a little farther north and there's Wild Thyme and Subway. Either one is better, in my opinion.
