New York Pizzeria

If you grew up in the West Winfield area, this pizza is legendary. However, if you've ever lived outside of the WW area, you realize that it's not the best pizza in the world. It's very good -- probably the best in central NY -- but when compared to something like New Haven pizza, it loses a bit of its lustre.

The pizza itself is noteworthy for its thick doughy crust and a sauce that is exactly the right blend between sweetness and spiciness (and although it's not very spicy, the mild spiciness is unique). The cheese is nothing special, and is probably its biggest weakness. If you're ever on Rt 20 anywhere between Albany and Syracuse, this place is worth a stop. But if you don't mind driving an extra 4 hours, go to New Haven.
