Food: I had the fish tacos, which were pretty good. Maybe an 8/10. Not earth shattering, but you could do a lot worse. Also, they had a nice selection of craft beers (haha like most places in the NW). I had a Hale's Supergoose IPA.

    Price: Reasonable.

Service: I went late on a Thu evening, and they seemed a bit understaffed. The service was a little slow, but not so slow that I got angry about it.

Atmosphere: Kind of a hodge podge thematically. Most of decor was what I'd call "fashion hipster". But then there were these big screens playing baseball bloopers, and young country music was blasting on the soundsystem. Also, the joint was bopping with a younger crowd (many of whom I'm sure love the place). If you like noisy college bars (and I don't necessarily mean that in a negative way), this is probably the place for you in Port Angeles.

Came into Port Townsend on the late ferry and luckily Next Door was still open for food. Only had the late night menu available and ordered a sandwich and fried which were both very good. I would have loved to come back and try the real menu but were only in town for 2 days. Had a very large beer selection with lots of local brews.

I'm still trying to find that perfect place that combines awesome food and hugh portions and this comes pretty close.  The burgers are super unique and to die for tasty, so the only way your going to get one for $10 is to get a smallish one darn!  I had to step up and order a $3 taco to top off  and was glad I did, that was a killer taco man!!  got out with 5star food for under 20 bucks and that always  gives you a good filling!

The outside seating is cool but P.A is always cool and breezy so it doesn't always work but worth a try.

My only complaint here was the music which was really load and at times nasty sounding but not bad enough to brake the deal.

This was a great local pub.  The service was fast and friendly and they have a fun atmosphere.  Best of all, they have a great menu.  They have just about everything, including build your own fries and build your own mac and cheese!  They also have several vegetarian options.

I had the black bean tacos and they were really good!  My partner also liked his sandwich.  They also have a good craft beer selection including a yoda green tea beer.  I would very much recommend checking this place out if you are in Port Angeles.  The prices are reasonable and they are open much later than everything else in town.

Visiting my family in town. Cousin recommended this place. It was perfect. Casual, friendly vibe. Open front with some sidewalk tables, which was lovely on a sunny day. Staff was efficient but not too intrusive. Menu features a large selection of burgers and sandwiches. VERY big variety of flavors and toppings, from spicy to tropical to more standard fare. Also a selection of fries with bold flavors (including garlic, blue cheese, or my beloved yam fries). There was a kicking sauce to dip the yam fries in (although this sauce may actually be related to the "Tiger" something or other tropical chicken sandwich I ordered (topped with a pineapple and other tropical fruit salsa and some type of slaw, ham and swiss cheese). Sandwich was delicious although a total mess to eat. Wish they'd brought me a fork with my meal (the sandwich did have a steak knife stabbed through it...much more fun (and practical) than a tooth pick) but a fork would have allowed me to eat all the delicious fruit salsa and slaw bits that fell out onto my plate. But I felt too weird trying to eat those tasty bites with my fingers.

Nice big beer list, although most is in bottles/cans (I prefer on tap). They also have some fancy ciders (pear, blackcurrant, etc) from a local brewery in Chimacum. These were tasty and refreshing and in a large bottle...but $12. You get two glasses worth so the price isn't unreasonable.

There's a tiny stage space way up above the back wall. It would sure make me nervous to stand there, but fun that they've found a way to provide live music occasionally.  The restrooms are nice and clean, with a repeating mirror situation that is a bit like a "fun house" in a carnival.

Lots and lots of options for every taste. A little pricey for the area but as I say, you come out behind if you spend less eating bad food.

Grabbed the last table in the house Friday night of Memorial Day weekend. Great atmosphere and many local micro-brews on tap to choose from paired with a delicious black and blue burger. The waitresses were very efficient and provides excellent service.
We'd love to go back soon!

This is the best place in Port Angeles. But it still only rates three stars. The beer was good but there were only six selections. This place is very small (I think it's actually a garage) and I ended up on a folding chair with five people at a table meant for four. I ordered the special, Fish and Chips and at $17 dollars I had high hopes. But the fish was greasy and the French fries were average. Definitely not worth $17. Overall I enjoyed my dining experience but expanding the beer selection, some serious work on the fish and chips,  and expanding the size of the restaurant would greatly improve the overall dining experience.

Food is excellent. Fish and chip great! Crab sandwich excellent. Service is good. But Abby the cook is a dynamic cook who blends unexpectedly good  flavors to make a mouth watering deserts! A must stop place to have a pint and a great snack and desert!!!!!!

Love this place.  Stopped in for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the food, service, and interior.  Great beer selection, awesome soups and sandwiches, and very friendly wait staff.  Can't wait to come back and try brunch.

There should be more places like this in Port Angeles, but I'll take what I can get.  It's been some time since I was last there and don't remember my dish, however I do remember that I liked what I ate and the atmosphere was happening.  I'll be back again when I inevitably visit Port Angeles again.  It goes to show that Port Angeles could be a little more like Port Townsend...

If you want a good drink and above average pub food (especially for Port Angeles), go here.

    Overrated, but decent.

Food is good--above average for Port Angeles, but there are several places with much better food.

Gastropub is a bit of a misnomer for this place.

What the name "gastropub" may lead you to expect:

    - craft cocktails.  A combination of prohibition era drinks and edgy, innovative drinks that showcase the spirits.
    - a wide selection of bitters and other little-known or long forgotten spirits.
    - a guy with pomade combed through his hair, a waxed handlebar moustache, a vest, and arm garters who takes pride in a properly prepared drink.
    - innovative and expertly cooked food that teeters between traditional artisanship and molecular gastronomy.

    What you get:

    - lots of juice-based cocktails.  The kind that were invented originally to mask low-quality liquor.  A few interesting drinks, but nothing very exciting.  Their brunch drinks tend to be a lot better than the rest of their drinks.
    - an okay selection of some local spirits, but beyond that, very few bottles you wouldn't be surprised to find behind the bar of a Red Robin or something.
    - mostly ex-frat bros and bleach-blondes with spray-tans taking your order and mixing your drinks.
    - very nice quality food, but nothing you would consider innovative or exciting.  Brunch was really tasty, though thy forgot my bacon and it didn't arrive until I'd finished the rest of my meal. (That happens, though.  No biggie, I guess.)

All in all, this is a sports bar that someone wrote "gastropub" onto.  They literally have big TVs with sports playing above the bar.  The most disappointing thing about this place is expecting a gastropub and getting a typical sports bar.

That said, the food really is some of the better fair you can find in town.  If you are looking for typical bar food that is above average quality, this is a place you can get it.  Just don't expect a gastropub.

Come here expecting a sports bar with surprisingly thoughtful food and you'll enjoy it.  If you want a gastropub, Michael's a couple blocks down is where you'll find that.

They never disappoint with their unique food selection and offerings, high quality ingredients, and attentive staff!  Last time I was there I had the Mrs. Newton burger and I would do it again a dozen times over!  Delish!!!!  There is no other place in PA doing what these folks are doing, don't miss your chance to enjoy this spot if you are a visitor.  This is the spot all the locals go to time and time again!

My only complaint is that it is TOO small.  For how good this place is, it should be much bigger because it certainly has quite the following.

Nice feeling, nice bartender, good beers, good burger.

Good place to grab a bite and drinks with friends.  Nice selection of beers.  Sometimes service is slow and it's always pretty loud in there at night with people enjoying themselves.  Decent place.

This place is TINY...but proves that size is not everything.

I had the best burger and sweet potatoe fries I have ever, ever had. Hands down. And the best part is that even though we didn't sit at the bar cuz we had the kidderinos, they let us order off the happy hour menu for our 10 year old who has a tiny appetite. We ordered a variety of different items and there was not one dissatisfied belly at the table.

Because the place is so small, groups of four or less are probably going to be the most comfortable. The food is fantastic, but about 15-20% higher than what I expected. They do, however, pair nicely with the wine and beer they carefully select for their clientele. IT's casual, but has a more upscale vibe to it so it might be nice for a date night as well. Expect fantastic burgers, fish tacos, and other casual faire done well.

From the street view the gastro pub can seem unassuming and bustling with energy. There's a small sidewalk patio (with heat lamps during the colder days/eves) that opens into the restaurant via a garage door. When you walk inside the interior is warm and has a great open feel to it with the high ceiling beams and brick. The bar is always welcoming if you choose to belly up or there's small tables and some booth type of seating available. It's nicely decorated and the rotating beers and taps and wine list are all clearly written out and hung on the walls. There's something to be said for small locally owned places like this that are started with a passion for food as well as your community. The management  and staff here are young, vibrant and it shows through from the decor to the menu to their customer service. I've been here on two occasions to dine and drink. It always blows me away when restaurants are responsible and resourceful enough to source most of their ingredients and elixirs/ales/wines/etc locally. We are in the age where restaurants lose out to the economy and feel forced to source materials from large suppliers rather than local. Staying local and supporting your local businesses, farms and communities are important and this is one of the Port Angeles businesses that do just that. It's always great to choose Finnriver ciders or an ale from Port Townsend or wine from one of the many surrounding wineries. Washington is truly rich in these offerings.

My boyfriend and I ate here and agreed that hands down was one if not THE best burger we'd ever had.We started off with a special of bread from Port Townsend, a huge chunk of Bleu Cheese and a whole roasted garlic clove along with olive oil/balsamic dipping sauce. It was incredible and I wish I had some in my face right now. The man had the Black & Bleu -Juicy, lean, loaded with bacon and ale battered onion strings and bleu cheese. Make sure you order your choice of cheese on your fries OMG. I had a special called the Royal Beetdown burger that was incredible with beets from Nash's Organic. I would've never thought to put beets on a burger, but I do now! FinnRiver ciders were delightful and the bf had 2 different beers. Although they were busy, we never felt rushed or pressured to do anything but enjoy our time there. The waitstaff, a delightful curly blonde was spot on. Also, one of the owners was bustling about bringing items and plates to patrons-something you almost never see!

I also spent a partial evening here with one of my best friends and sat at the bar, Our bartender was attentive and welcoming. We had some of their amazing poutine while there (how can you NOT love crispy perfect handcut fries with cheese curds and gravy?) We ordered food to go too to enjoy in our motel room later on which was devoured with glorious food orgasm sounds. This is truly a great addition to downtown Port Angeles and I see this place being loved and lasting a long time. I hope they get to expand the restaurant at some point because with the outstanding EVERYTHING they offer...once word gets out to the rest of the world about this gem, it will be standing room only!

Hm, I really wanted to LOVE this place but it wasn't all I'd hoped it to be. The drinks were...standard I guess, nothing fancy, no classic cocktails on the menu, but a variety of other creatively named drinks to choose from.

The food was definitely over priced, and my Chicken and Apple sandwich was just...meh. The chicken was MUCH smaller than the bun, so I ended up getting twice as much bread per bite as I did chicken, and the apples were somewhat dry, lending nothing to the sandwich. It looked really good, so I had high hopes. Maybe next time.

The atmosphere was good - lively and loud, sports on the TV and generally a fun place to hang out on a weekend in Port Angeles. I'm thinking I'd like to give this place another try next time I'm up that way - maybe try something different for food.

    Picture coming soon

Another gem in a distant land and well worth it!

I decided to stop here after a freak'n long drive in the pouring rain and horrendous traffic, due to needing an awesome meal.  I took the advice of fellow Yelpers and was extremely surprised.

The place is quaint and not all that big in space, but the food more than makes up for the limited seating.  I saddled up to the bar and was greeted by the waitress/bartender (Joanna ((I think that was her name)).  She was awesome and pointed me to some of her favorites.

So, I decided to go with the Jalapeno Crab Dip with dungeness crab, jalapenos, artichoke hearts, herbs and cheeses.  Delish!!!  Beware though, because this is pretty heavy, so sharing this would be best.  Then I ordered the Straight Up Berger, which is 1/2 lbs. Painted Hills beef, lettuce, tomato, onion, basil aioli, Jarlsberg cheese, avocado, and grilled jalapenos and yam fries.  OMG!!! If you've had a great burger in the past, then this is 10x better!  Honestly, it has to be on my top 5 of all-time.

To wash it all down, I had the Arctic Rhino beer by Midnight Brewing Co. Smooth and flavorful with a chocolate hint and robust coffee flavor if you're into dark beers.

I'd like to hit this place up again before I leave, but I'm noticing from the area that there are so many good choices from Yelpers recommendations.

The only two drawbacks to NDG would be 1. the prices are pretty steep, but worth the experience and 2. Since it was Monday night and football was on, it was a pain to have to stare up 10' to see the TV basically mounted on the celing.

    Overall Rating: 85%
    Service: 5/5
    Food: 5/5
    Price: 3/5
    Ambiance: 4/5

This place has awesome food--and great home-brewed/made drinks.  Even for a GF girl like me, it had great salads and other options.  The atmosphere is good, not too sports-bar-ish, but just a good neighborhood place that's kick back and cool.  Best part of Next Door is going to the bathroom--there are two doors, one says, "Men's Rest Room Next Door" (with an arrow) and the door it's pointing to says "Women's Rest Room Next Door" (with an arrow)--you should see all the people standing in the hallway trying to figure it out, it's hilarious!  Hint: if you walk into a room with a urinal and you're a woman, you're in the wrong one!  Great play on words for this gastropub--hip place without all the hipster attitude.

Wonderful food & atmosphere! We had the black and blue burger (amazing), sante fe burger, broccoli and cheese soup, and yam fries.  All were excellent, and our bartender Rick was great!  We actually came back later that evening for chocolate cake which was very moist and also delicious.

Awesome food! And a good little selection of beers. Stayed in town 4 nights and came here for 3 of them. The menu could use a few more entree items just in those cases were you don't want a hamburger, salad or appetizer, but what they have is so good it's easy to look past that. Highly recommended if you're in Port Angeles.

We are from out of town. My two companions ate dinner here on a  Sunday night. (I was at a different "function.") They both insisted that we return on Monday night because it was *that* good. I would have insisted we return on Tuesday, as well (it was *that* good) but by then we were headed back out of town and (damn them) Next Door Gastropub does not (yet?) serve breakfast.

Please see my pictures for more info.

If I had to sum up my experience in one word it would be AMAZING!!!

This place was simply awesome. Execellent customer service, the food was just...incredible. By far the best burger that I have ever had!! Got to meet one of the owners who was super nice and friendly (glad to see an owner interacting with the patrons). Our waitress was incredible...probably the best customer service I've ever had.

Keep up the great work.  :)

We love this place, PA needed it so badly. Unfortunately that means it has become extremely popular, and the last few times we've tried to go it;s been too crowded. They really need to expand into a bigger space. But the food is about a thousand times better than similar options in town, the beer selection pretty decent, service and atmosphere great. Highly recommended.

A new Hiway 101 Pub stop!

A block off of the 101, Stop here for EXCELLENT grass-fed, organic beef burgers cooked to Medium juicy, PERFECTION, served with a menu-full of amazing toppings to choose from. The mushroom, onion and a bacon-blue are the two I tried so far!
Wash it all down with a local WA beer on the rotating taps at this cute bar! You'll find HH prices even on the weekends. Don't miss the hot wings (Franks Hot sauce style which are cooked perfectly as well!)

The Next Door Gastropub is such a Classy lil pub if you hit it at the right time. Cool decor and they even have live music and a small patio seating section. It can get crowded! The only thing I wish they had was a separate kids section due to the tightness of the space, and the very NONCHALANT parents of 'said kids' running about. So, I hope they can expand to fit their vision, as it's a good one so far.

    Cheers!

Had the chance to visit twice during the same weekend.

The first experience was outstanding, the beer and food were perfect and we had the sweetest server in all of Port Angeles. The burger was to DIE for, grass fed beef, bacon black and bleu burger, with grilled jalapeno's. I believe the Angels of the Port may have cooked that for me. We had a side of wings that we ordered for appetizers, but accidentally didn't get ordered with the kitchen, so they were comped. They were absolutely perfect; sauce, meatiness, cooked to perfection.

The second visit wasn't quite as great, and that was mainly due to the popularity of the restaurant. There was a band playing in the loft- by the way quite good, 'Crow Quill Night Owls' and there was a packed house. The parents had their precious children bouncing around like jumping beans on caffeine. They were literally bouncing into us as we were trying to eat without controlling them at all. Lovely. As amazing as the food was, the waitress wasn't 1/2 as good as the first one we had and we had to split as soon as possible.

I recommend trying the Next Door Gastropub on off hours to get the full experience.

I seriously wanted to LOVE this place.
We stop in PA on our way to Victoria pretty frequently.  The place was crowded...but we got a seat within a few minutes.  We ordered the fish and chips which were SOGGY.  The cole slaw was some of the worst  i have ever tried (anywhere). Extremely bitter with no dressing.
Our cocktails (vodka soda splash of cranberry...) were extremely weak.
We also tried the salt and pepper wings.  4 wings, 4 dollars.  Not bad...but the fries were soggy and cold.
Nice 80's music...place is cute (small).

This is turning into a local favorite! There is a rotating selection of local craft brews (don't expect to find one particular beer). I always find one or two beers that I have never heard of. This is great if you are into micro-brews!

The food is incredible! I have never had a meal that disappointed. The chicken wings are perfect (I have only tried the hot ones). The blackened fish tacos are great. My all-time favorite is the black and blue burger. If you like meat you need to try this. I go for the yam fries and curry ketchup.

Happy hour all day on Sunday. Makes it reasonable to get some wings and a beer. The only problem we have ever had is that it gets busy at times and they might take a while to cater to your needs. They have beer. Waiting is never that much of an issue once the thirst problem is solved.

We just ate here for the first time this afternoon, and we will definitely be going back often.  Nice atmosphere (though the tables up front by the door are a bit chilly, we moved to the back when a booth opened) and friendly people.

The food was great, with an emphasis on fresh and local ingredients.  A little upscale, but not too complicated, which is exactly what I like.  I was thrilled to find poutine on the appetizers menu -- a French-Canadian dish of french fries, gravy, and cheese.  The demi-glace was delicious and rich and the cheese curds (the way it's really done up north) creamy.  Definite yum.

My husband had the bacon bleu burger, and has a hard time finding places who will cook a true medium, the way he likes it.  He got a great burger.  I got the straight up grilled cheese panini, which was simple and tasty.

I'm sure this place can get pretty busy at night, I kind of liked the family-friendly afternoon vibe.  I look forward to going in the summer when we can sit outside.  This is just the kind of new restaurant Port Angeles really needed, and it was totally worth the wait.  If you're in town, don't miss it!

This place is an absolute breath of fresh air in downtown Port Angeles :) I am a local and I have to say it has been a long time since I've had a place where I can go and spend countless hours drinking micro brews ( that are changing all the time)  and eat amazing food in a classy yet comfortable environment. By far the best part about this place is the staff. The wait staff is friendly, efficient, and fun! Not to mention that the owners are right there on the floor with them serving drinks, taking orders and answering questions. This is not just a "grownup hangout" either, there is a definite family vibe goin on so don't hesitate to bring your kids down for some fries :) I think everyone needs to check this place out because I know one thing is for sure downtown P.A is better with it here! Keep up the good work guys!

I had taken the ferry to Victoria to visit my brother and on the way back, I decided to wander through Port Angeles and happened by this spot.

I like the fact that it has outdoor seating, open to the sidewalk and pretty decent food.  I didn't like the fact that they were out of the two different tap beers I wanted to order.  Ended up with water.

Server was friendly but short staffed.  Decent place to grab a bite but don't count on them carrying all the beers that are listed.
