The restaurant is the best sit down place to eat in town.  The menu is way too big for the place.  I feel like a lot of the food is frozen food and other things come out of cans.  Their patty melt is good and I also like the their burgers.  I also like their breakfast food, but then again it is really hard to mess up breakfast food.   I don't care too much for the dinners because as I said they don't taste fresh, but it does come with a dessert which kids probably like.  The restaurant is clean and  bright, but I don't really get the interior design there is a lot going on in the place that doesn't really match.  The other thing I notice is that the ladies work really hard but you can tell they haven't ever been trained formally on how to take care of customers.  They do a nice local business, but there is nothing about the place that would make people come from outside of Cass City to eat their food. Â
We go there when we don't want to drive somewhere outside of town to eat. Â As I said it isn't bad, they just don't do anything special. Â The place doesn't have an identity.
Cass city is in Michigan Central thumb area, almost dead center. Â Another small community surround completely by farms or state parks. Â Cass City has a small hospital and a couple of other small shops and services. Â Nick's Country was an Arby's or Wendy's, its across the street from the local McDonald's - I guess they only allow one national fast food chain per town.
Nick's is a dinner, a set menu - breakfast, burgers, sandwiches, and half dozen dinner options, with daily specials. Â Very friendly wait staff, and if I was in Cass City more than once a year, I'm sure they would even know my name. Â Its a nice place to sit down and catch up on the local going on's - from the high school football to people moving in or out of town.
The food is OK, not fancy, but hot and served quickly with a smile; better than McDonald's,
