Found this place and thought I would give it a try, said they didn't have pot stickers so I ordered dumplings. I got three greasy fried pot stickers. Generals chicken was average at best, but the price was decent.

    I won't be going back.

Nippon's a little indecisive about what it wants to be... something like Emperor's Japanese Grill, with the ordering at the counter and the teppanyaki grill going on, but a lot more upscale with the real tableware and lovely presentations. I'll chalk that inconsistency up to inexperience, because the food's worth it.

Their sushi menu isn't as vast as some of the other places in town, but in this case I don't care: I could eat nothing but their shrimp tempura roll and be perfectly happy. Crispy shrimp, tasty sauce, asparagus that's exactly right.

My family tends to go with fried rice or one of the teppanyaki entrees, and those are generous and not as greasy as Emperor's version.

Oh, one more quirk: twice now they've been out of chopsticks. I don't know how you can be a sushi place and run out of chopsticks, but you might consider BYO if that's important to you.

We tried the Philly roll here and I was impressed with it. Otherwise, I would say all the rolls we tried were average. I think the highlight of my meal though was the fried rice. They cooked it a little longer than average which gave it a nice crispy texture. The location of this place could be much better (kind of in the middle of nowhere between Maize and new market) which wasn't convenient. Also the decor inside left me a little puzzled, specifically the giant tables we sat at that seemed like they didn't belong. Overall, an average sushi experience.

I was bored. Braving it through the biting wind, I found myself walking to Nippon.  Wasn't expecting much, despite the great reviews. First of all, the ambiance is severly lacking, but it's justifiable because it's such a new business. The food is fresh and you get quite a bang for your buck. The downside? It's not all that experimental and is tailored more towards a typical American's palette. With just sushi, some low-mein, and potstickers, it's a bit limiting. Another thing, good restaurants are more willing to inform the guest, without request, as to what they specialize in, and what best suits each person's taste. Owner was nice, but I wouldn't say extremely knowledgeable.  The quality of the food, the cleanliness of the restaurant, and the presentation of each dish is credit to the three stars which I rate it. When you go in, try the rainbow roll!

Sushi was amazing - fresh and very appetizing.  The fried rice wasn't very flavorful, but it was good none-the-less.

They had good food and nice people.  Not a real sushi place though. More of a sushi / short order Japanese restaurant.

This is a Japanese/Chinese restaurant. Its hard to tell what they specialize in. I tried some sushi, so I cannot comment on the Chinese food. This is not a full restaurant. You have to order from the front counter, and you have no waiter except for when they bring the food to you. I normally dont care about how the food looks, as long as it tastes good. But the presentation on my dish was so good, I almost wanted to take a photo of it and put on here. You can order 2 egg rolls for $1.25. Slight disappointment with no meat, but still... $1.25 for an appetizer... what a bargain! I had the eggrolls, a bowl of miso soup, sushi, and water for lunch and the total was only a little over $11. Hard to find a better value anywhere else.

Wow, this place is AWESOME! Not only do they have the typical Chinese dishes that I like, but also they have Japanese dishes and sushi. I had a lunch special. For 5 dollars I got a HUGE portion of General's chicken, lo mein noodles with yummy veggies in it(could've had fried or steamed rice instead), and a drink. I had to get a box to take home the leftovers. My friend had the seasame chicken and fried rice, she said the rice was some of the best she had ever had. They made our food fresh as we ordered, and it was brought over to us quickly. We didn't try any sushi, but the people at the table next to us had some and were talking about how good it was. The man who took our order might have been the owner, he came over to check on us a few times, and was very nice and friendly. I am thrilled to have such a delicious place in Maize to enjoy. I will return-many times!
