My friends and I love the Hopr. Â It's this cool beer dispenser that keeps the beer chilled and they bring it right to your table with your choice of beer. Â Other than beer, I've only had fries here, but they're pretty tasty. Â The patio is like a big party when they have bands playing. Â Lots of fun, and if there's a game across the street, you have a great view of the fireworks afterwards.
Review Source:Well I know that I seem to love every place that I go, but...this place is great! Â Normally I am not a big fan of calzones but I absolutely love the spinach and artichoke calzone here. Â I have also had the Hawaiian burger, smothered chicken, and many other things. Â The location is great! Â They could use a little more parking, but it is easy to overlook when the food is so good. Â I only gave them four stars because I have had a couple waitresses that I was not too pleased with. Â Other than that I think everything is great!
Review Source:Had a fun evening with coworkers after 5 at The Nuthouse in downtown Lansing. Easy parking, plenty of tables. Great sale on hot appetizers, that was pleasant to find. The potato skins were tasty. Great waitstaff. Wide open room, nice bar, but too many TVs in my opinion. The only negative thing I have to say is, once again, too much air conditioning. But oh well, what's a girl to do? I forgot my sweater.
Review Source:Holy God, this place was LOUD. Â Ended up here for a Mother's Day dine out excursion after hitting up the Michigan Historical Museum with the BF's family (total 8 ppl, including my spawn). Â The day coincided with local graduation festivities so it was slim pickin's as far as dining spot selections went. Â Really slim.
Lots of seating here (also an outside patio). Â The place was pretty busy. Â The Kentucky Derby was on. Â Between the people and TV's, you could barely talk to your dining companions or hear yourself think. Â Food was OK (standard American / bar food). Â I had a chicken Greek salad wrap w/ fries. Â Service was Meh-OK.
One thing that aggravated me was that, although this is clearly more of a sports bar that serves food, they did have highchairs for children so they do welcome families...however, when I had to succumb to a diaper change, I walked into the ladies room and did not see a changing table up on the wall. Â WTF?! Â Had to take my kid out to the parking lot and change him in the trunk of my car. Â They likely may have had a changing table in the larger handicap stall that was occupied, but I'll never know.
This is not a bad place if you go there more with the intent of hanging out, drinking and watching a game on their many TV's. Â Basically what this place is set up and designed for. Â Not sure what kind of hollering is to be expected when REAL sports are on though. Â You may want to pack earplugs if you're just along for the ride.
We went to the Nuthouse for a Michigan Radio discussion they were hosting and to get a bite to eat. Â The food was pretty solid- could have been served warmer, and the drinks were really cheap.
I felt super classy drinking my $1 PBR from a can while discussing politics.
The cheddar ale soup was delicious and the enchiladas we alright. Â Plus you can get a pretty good deal on a "gift certificate" for here on http://restaurant.com. Â It doesn't work on "specials" but it applied to any regular priced items we ordered.
Solid food, great specials! Â I rank the Nuthouse at 4 stars. Â It's my favorite bar in Lansing. Â The crowd is in the 25-45 age range on most days in the bar area (there is a nice dining area as well). Â Great place to watch the NFL (there is a large group of regulars) and College Football. Â Can't Beat 1/2 Off Happy Hour on Fridays from 4-7pm, and Sundays $2.50 Well Drinks/Draft Beers, Bloody Mary bar with $5 Pizzas. Â They also have some great outdoor parties during the summer for Nuttyfest and Lugnut games.
Review Source:Prototypical Michigan sports bar. Â Lots of seats, bunch of tvs, big menu... Â you know the drill.
The food is good and seems pretty consistent. Â Service too, no complaints. Â My only real gripe is that they don't have any microbrews beyond Oberon. Â Granted, I like a Miller Lite now and then but would much rather choose to drink it vs feeling forced because my other option is Bud Light. Â Hopefully, they'll get behind some of the great locally-made beers.
This place is totally decent. Pretty good beer selection, lots of TVs...
I had the grilled chicken salad which was good, the chicken was very flavorful and cooked perfectly..
nachos too are good... There were many things on the menu I would have liked to have tried..
Bar is more of a young college crowd, so i felt a lil weird being there with my boss staring at college chicks though...
After visiting the City Market this weekend, I was feeling a little hungry and couldn't decide where to stop for a meal. Â Then I pulled up to the traffic light on the corner of Cedar and Michigan, and saw the Nuthouse across the street. Â It had been quite a while since I had been there, so I gave it a try. Â
Ordered the Burger Basket and an Oberon. Â Service was very quick, even though the place was pretty well packed. Â
My only complaints would be on parking and beer selection. Â It was a bit of a hike in from the parking spot I finally found. Â Was a little disapointed they didn't have a good selection of Michigan beers.
Flashback: 2 years ago, The Nuthouse. The kind place where you could wear a basketball jersey, baseball hat, etc. and fit right in. The food was your standard bar fare type stuff. Classic sports watching smoke pit full of 40+ men.
Flash forward to the present: I went here the other night after a lengthy absence. The crowd has changed, for the better. A heavy mix of 20/30 somethings now. I was wearing something "club appropriate" and surprisingly did not feel overdressed at all. The mood was a bit more "meat-markety" than before, but in this case that is good considering the former image this place had.
The beer, although served in heavy plastic "glasses", was reasonable in price and the atmosphere was pretty energetic. I think the Nuthouse is trying to raise it's social status...and it is working. I am officially putting this place back on my approved list!
Careful if you go there on a "Thirsty Thursday" because this place will be packed with nuts.. lug nut fans that is (well and a handful of crazies). Â
On a Monday, they have $1PBR cans.. a tough deal to beat. The staff there is always friendly and will make you a boston cooler if you ask nicely.. (some begging and pleading may be involved as well).
Typical Pub fare, I'm a fan of the Nachos which should be accompanied by a side of good ranch.
For all you hardcores out there, they have jager on tap if you dare.
Ask for "trick," he'll do you right and make sure your glass is always full.
I went here last Saturday to watch college football. Being from out of town I wasn't sure how busy it would get......and honestly I still don't know. I was told the place would be packed with MSU fans, so I made sure to wear neutral colors, but when I arrived there were about 10 other people there. (When I left 5hrs later there were only about 60 people and 40 some of them were from IL).
The waitress was very attentive though she lost interest in our party after we didn't order food and stopped ordering drinks about 2hrs after we arrived..........and surprisingly she came back quickly and took our food orders with a smile around the 4hr mark.
The food. I liked it. Not greasy and it had a little flair. I ordered a burger which came with lettuce, tomato, red onion, and pickles on the side. The included fries were seasoned very well. And further, there was another separate pickle spear included!! (I love pickles)
I really liked this place and will definitely have to go back sometime to try out more of their menu.
