We sat in the cozy chairs by the front door and our bartender was fantastic. Seriously! There were three of us waiting to catch the train and had a few drinks before it arrived. The atmosphere is very comfortable and chill. It's in a old garage and really styling. I didn't know that it is a gay bar until I read a review on Yelp. It doesn't matter, it's still really cool.
Review Source:Nyne Bar is a huge warehouse transformed in a restaurant/bar.
Decoration is really nice couches, tables, and bar seating.
Bartenders/servers are very nice and helpful.
The menu is really small but with really good choices burgers, salads, soups and wraps.
My food was delicious.
Drinks are nice and reasonable price.
Come and give it a try you'll like it.... :D
Oh aaaaand during the weekends this place has live music
I wasn't sure what to expect from this place. Its in a strange location, but when you walk inside you are pleasantly surprised. The decor is nice and relaxed, and almost rather fancy looking -- even the bathrooms. The service was friendly, the happy hour apps (flatbread and caesar salad) were tasty, and the price was not bad. Beer and drinks very good.
We got there at the beginning of happy hour so there weren't many people, but you can tell the vibe there is pleasant. I just hope they play the WNBA games there! Go Storm!
Gluten Free Options: Yes! Two tasty GF beers.
Bathrooms: Gendered multiple stall.
I'm from out of town, and stumbled on this gem of a bar while exploring what downtown Spokane had to offer. Â The place was hopping with a benefit for the tsunami relief efforts in Japan, but still felt spacious and open. Â When going up to the bar and asking if they had any gluten-free beer options - a question which is often met with a blank stare - and was told I had my choice of two beers, which is a damn sight better than most places I've been to. Â
All bemused, I wandered over to the comfy leather couch and seated myself to watch the crowd and live music. Â I noted a roomy dance floor, though the only person on it was the representative Interpretive Dancing Guy who was a blast to watch. Â I especially loved the fact that nYne has not one but two stages, making the transition time from live band to live band negligible. Â I've produced my share of shows, and this kind of flexibility is invaluable for keeping a live lineup going smoothly. Â
The crowd was nicely mixed, which was a refreshing change from the Straightlandia that is Spokane. Â While I am a Spokane native, I live in a queer bubble in the city I now call home, so it was pretty great to not feel like the resident freak in the bar. Â I didn't get a chance to check out the menu, but will definitely be back during the week to see what options are available. Â This is one bar that I hope lives long and prospers.
I really enjoy nYne. A bar in what could be a less-than-desirable location (right across the street from the Greyhound station on a block with little else that's open) manages to be quirky, cool, and inviting. Set up in an  old garage, they open the garage door to expand onto an open patio when its warm. There is an indoor basketball court (yes, really), nice tables, a pool table, and a generally cozy and kind of hip feeling.
nYne isn't technically a gay bar, but it IS a women's sports bar, which means that a variety of people are welcome. When a drunk man was hassling a table of my (queer, female) friends and I, the bouncer made it very clear that women's comfort and safety was important at nYne. Which was awesome, since that hasn't been a feeling I've had at other gay bars in Spokane (DEMPSEYS) or other queer bars in the world.
I've only had appetizers here, but they were always delicious. The drinks are good and the servers are (mostly, with one exception) friendly.
Kitty, the owner, is around a lot. If you see her, tell her what a great job she's doing. nYne is a welcome addition to the Spokane nightlife.
