This place is jam packed tighter than the size 0 dresses that some of the girls were wearing ;x and when I say jam packed, I mean a small, tiny room which should of had a max capacity of 45, filled with 100.
This place has no dance floor (they dance anyways though), except a stage where they have old timer karaoke somedays and a drag queen host the others. Supposedly, their food is "gourmet Filipino" but I think it's more oily and greasy than anything. Although, I must say their decor is gorge. It has a dark fancy ambiance with velvet drapes. This place has potential but it seems so corny with the karaoke, lame bands and music choices. It's kind of confusing as to whether this is a perv pub, a goldy for oldies or a hipster haven. But one thing is for sure, I've never been in a place so claustrophicly full of Filipinos! It was FOBulous!! The bartender was friendly but the drinks came in PLASTIC CUPS. Kind of off putting for such a "fancy" place.
Last but not least, THE ENTERTAINMENT! This place has more drama than a tfc soap opera! Some girl ended up breaking her boyfriends windshield and then proceeded to pull another girl's hair. SMH.
Can't review them based on their food. But 1 star for service. We (a party of 3) came in to the "O", not really knowing what they served. But, we let curiosity get the best of us and decided to check it out. The hostess quickly sat us down. She placed us at a table that was right next to the speakers blaring hip hop music. I don't know, but I don't enjoy a meal when there is deafening club music blasting in my ear. We had to yell at each other to communicate. But to top it all off, a waiter never came for 15 minutes. So we just got up and left.
The whole staff seemed to have just disappeared. We decided to just enjoy a meal at El Rocoto in the same plaza.
came here for a fellow yelper VinnyQ's bday bash. ho my god, this place was gangster packed! I walked in and i was immediately greeted by JoJo (yeah... that's not filipino at all!) and he spoke to me in tagalog! I know I'm dark for a korean but c'mon! "sarap!" i replied, one of two words i know in tagalog (the other being, soos!)
they serve San Miguel here! which was pretty cool.
The DJ was okay.. i guess. hard to dance cuz they seemed to be over capacity by like 50 people. and also, if you're going to promote the place with live DJ and dancing, get rid of those tables in the middle of the restaurant!
over all, we had fun and VinnyQ had a blast. that's all that matters. but i doubt i'll go back tho...
now, i shall discuss the events that took place outside in the parking lot afterwards!
so, we were walking to our cars when i'm not sure what happened but words were exchanged between two dudes... then one screamed out "whats up blood?" really?! it's 2009 yo! gang banging is sooo 1994!! then some tall black dude with dreads stepped up out of no where and the 4ft asian guys were all of a sudden timid! lmao. then, one of them sprung into action and the rest followed, chased the black dude around the parking lot. He hopped over some bushes that were about 4 feet high. and one asian dude tried to give chase but he being asian and about the same height as the bushes didn't quite clear it and ate shit!! face plant! hilarious... then all those fools got pepper sprayed by the security. lol.
and then soon after that, some guy got sucker punched from the side and he immediately folded like a pretzel. then about 3 dudes kicked him while he was down. yikes!
okay, the end.
People party in Cerritos...YEP!
I really don't know what the deal is with this place but we LUV IT. So much that we came here TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW. We came a week before and it was a yearly party of some kind, the band rocking out and doing covers. And it was so much fun we came back, again. This time it was a hip-hop luau (huh?) and whoa, people were dancing here, making out there, and go-go girls teasing everyone. This place was just insane. I think this is the first place we've been to where everyone was drunkand pilipino. Not from just drinks, but probably from the music too. The Dj played some pretty frenetic mixes, making us dance practically the entire night. Had to work off the alcohol! And let me tell you, get your drinks early or you'll have to wait. The cute bartender here is amazing and got our shots the best  we've had, but the bar-flowers just won't budge. Luckily he knew our drinks, because the wait would have been especially painfull with some of our favorite music playing and us just standing there. How do people just sit and watch TV there? Nice bar though. On a side note, O barz needs some speakers up front. When we went out for some air, you wouldn't even know there was a night club scene going on inside. Maybe some dance lights too. From the outside, it seemed like we were just relaxing at Guppies or something. This place has a lot of potential to be the next close-to-home chill spot. We didn't get a chance to try the food but judging from just the club-scene, the Dj, the ambiance, and the quality of drinks (pricey but worth it), me and the girls had a ball here and o-Barz gets a 5* rating in our opinion. If this place isn't going off then there's shipwrecks across the street which gets a 5* rating too. We love O-Barz!!!!!
Still a fun place to go!
Never again.
The O Bar tries to hard. Sorry, but this place is way over priced. And a dress code?! Give me a break! I had to leave my hoodie in the car only to find 3 other guys inside wearing zip up hoodies. WTF? The drinks are watered down and the food is greasy (I know its filipino food but the amount of grease was nauseating)
Also this was a first, the waiter HAD the audacity to ask me and my friend if we could share our table with two other people! unbelievable. And why do they feel the need to turn the lights off? If you want a nice warm ambiance, try DIMMING the lights not turning them off. Â How do you expect people to eat?
It started out all to well until the lack of stock helped it to fall dramatically down. Don't get me wrong nothing beats a free cover charge and a great dj mixing some old school beats but what was up with your stock!?!? First they say they run out of a kind of beer and then later I start seeing other people order it with out any problems. How can an establishment like that even run out of beer stock thats just ridiculous!! The live band sucked as well, mic checking for about 20 mins and hearing them annoying sounds just irritated the hell out of my crew. Lastly the $15.00 sisig was too damn expensive for just that one tiny hot skillet. Get your act together first O-bar and may be you'll just be a hit.
Review Source:this place is BLEH!!! the food is not good and even a bit overpriced. the service is not good. you have to literally find someone who works there and let them know you need their service. the place is not good. it's small and crowded. with over sized seats. even the servers don't have enough space to move! heck, even the drinks are not good! it's almost like their bartenders don't even know how to mix. VERY disappointing.
Review Source:I finally decided to stop by here not really knowing what type of place this was. I finally got in after just about a 15-20 min wait, not bad. The place is very reminiscent  of bars in the philippines, the smell of the bar food cooking and the crowded dance floor and ofcourse the filipinos. Its a great place to hang out with your friends for a couple of drinks. The dance floor is not adequate quite small. Im thinking its a great place to go to after dinner, just to hang out and have a couple of dirnks with friends.
Review Source:ip yu are peenoy yu will lab this pleys!
PINOY SARDINES....
if you are Pinoyphobic don't even bother....
if you love the pinoy crowd you just found the right spot...
wanna learn tagalog? go here!
just like what other people said... if you are not pretty comfortable with all filipino crowd don't even bother cause this place is like 99.9% pinoy...
So i ended up here cause a friend wanted to go here, i have to admit its my first time going in a filipino bar. Why? I don't know! I only go to filipino markets and i don't even go to filipino restaurants just because my family loves to cook that's why i don't bother going out to have my pinoy food. (damn can i say "filipino" one more time?)
We got here around 9 pm got a table which is seated pretty close to the dance floor.(yeah this place transforms from a restaurant to a club!) I think that night there's this bunch of friends who got their first gig spinning, idk but the music SUCKED or it can be that i'm just not into it. I was told that sometimes a band plays there or sometimes someones dances "TINIKLING" (google it). Unfortunately the night that we picked is just full of kids running around pretending to be drunk or what nots i just didn't as long as i got my lovely beer i'm good.
what we got...
3 buckets of beer
buffalo wings
and calamari
i think the beer costs 5 bucks each and yes they serve REDHOSE and SAN MIGUEL BEER. (they better be!)
buffalo wings- its 10 bucks per order its more like a dry rub but its not the typical buffalo wings that you get from wingstop its not saucy. blah
calamari-awesome! but how can you mess a battered squid and deep fried. tell me!
i can't say anything much about the food cause that's all we ordered.
Lets talk about the place, actually its pretty cool since the place i kept clean the restrooms are well maintained but the tables should be moved to make it easier to access the restroom.
As for the service that we got, it was awesome.. our server is "JOJO" now that's totally pinoy! we got all we want on time and he make sure that we got the best service... and i got my 10 glasses of water! i was hydrating all night just so that i won't be too drunk.
All in all this place is nice/a-ok. Would i go back here? maybe but not soon and only if i'm going out with some filipino friends.
One word...........WACK!!!! Â Went to O-Bar once and have to say that it's a "FORGETTABLE" experience. Â There are two characteristics of this club/bar: (1) the bad music and (2) the terrible atmosphere.
(1) Bad music- DJs who train wrecked that much should have their turntables confiscated. Â If you're going to play mainstream music, at least practice mixing two songs together before you play out in front of a crowd. Â Musical selection was lacking to say the least.
(2) Terrible atmosphere- If you like straight up Filipino crowds, then this is the place for you. Â Plus, if you don't speak Tagalog, you may feel a little out of your element. Â I usually like when places have a little more mixed/eclectic clientele(different ethnicities) and this place is sorely lacking in that department. Â
I've only been here on a Saturday for the club and don't really know how it's like on any other days, but I would not suggest this place on a Saturday. Â Drive the extra 30 minutes to Downtown LA!!!
It's a good place to go, when you live in Cerritos and don't want to drive far. I believe they're open Tuesday-Saturday nights (unless they've changed it, not too sure). And every night usually has a theme. You can have club nights, salsa nights to karaoke nights.
I can't really complain when I know the head chef. And the food is really good here. It's Asian/American fusion. It's a bit pricey, but this is supposed to be high class. The service is good too. They have a stocked bar. The place is big enough for a dance floor and they have some pretty good dj's. And also a small patio area to smoke or chill outside.
Just make sure to follow the bouncers rules. They're not there to harass you, but Cerritos has a STRICT rule about having drinks outside the restaurant. So you may get harassed about that a few times, but if you remember to leave your drinks inside then its cool. They're just trying to do their job.
And its off of S&G so don't get all butt hurt about the parking. It sucks. But if you're ever in the area, check it out. It won't hurt.
Unless you're filipino, don't bother coming to the club. I've never been anywhere where they didn't want my business... Bad experience. Will never come back again unless they tear down this place and change it into something non racist.if I could give this place negative points, I would... I'm sure the filipinos actually getting served would disagree with my review.
Review Source:I've only been here a couple of times.
Can't really complain when you know the chefs and get excellent service from it.
but In my opinion the decor matches the plating of the food. its a pretty good Fusion of Filipino and American. The night life is pretty chill as well great dj's and adequate dancing space. also a patio for those people who like to chill outside.
recommended.
This restaurant is okay. The only reason why I patronize this restaurant is because I know the bartender- her name is Tila- and my Filipino friends also like this place. However, if your not Filipino- I'm Cambodian- expect to get stares from the guys.
Moving on to the food; the food was okay, not real good, but okay. I usually order the Calamari and the spring rolls. But beware of your order being late, because there's only a handful of staff working. Once you get your food, the food is okay, not bad nor good, just okay. I must say, the spring rolls are delicious. I recommend them. Â If your going to visit, be sure to mention Ken to Tila, she's the Hawaiian chick with a bubbly personality.
I went here last Saturday night for Newwave night, the bar is in Cerritos and I live in L.A so it was quite a drive but there's not allot of Filipino bars around so decided to go here. The Good things about this club, well it's like going to Decades or Guilly's  in Manila but the difference is the Guys outnumber girls 4 to 1 so if you're here to pick up girls, you'll have allot of competition.
The dance floor was kind of small and too many tables, the food here is expensive, $14.00 For Sisig, are you kidding me? The drinks wasn't that bad, $5.00 for a beer. So I would recommend you eating first before you go here and just go here for drinks. Also they should get rid of the $10.00 cover charge, more people would go here if there wasn't.
So overall, if you're bored on a Friday or Saturday night and want to feel like in Manila cause mostly filipinos go here then I would suggest going here.
I stopped by last night to see a friend perform. The menu's selection is limited. I ordered a salmon steak, which was over cooked. I ended up eating anyway, since I was famished. Thankfully, I had some water to help counter the dryness of the fish.
I didn't have any of the staple Filipino dishes like pancit, however, if what I have is any indication, I'd venture to say it would be a surprise if it was anything but marginally better.
The band, without being biased, was very good, although a bit on the loud side for my taste - and this is coming from a musician. If the room was twice the size, I could understand it.
The waitress and bartender were both very nice, although it took them about 15 minutes to realize I was sitting there waiting for someone to come over and hand me a menu. Kind of odd, since I stuck out like a sore thumb being the only white guy in the place save for the drummer performing on stage. :)
Review for the after hour club.
I dont go here for dinner, Â there are more places around this area that offers better food and much cheaper.
We only go here to hang out. Â if you like to dance, there's a small dance floor, I think its a good place to drink and chill here with your buddies. the crowd most of the time are laid back, the crowd are mostly flips. That's the one thing i like here, it feels like home. Â compared to other flip hang out around the area i will give this place a 5 star. Â and yeah most of the servers here are nice too.
Review on the bar/club aspect only.
First of all, you would never think this place is a night time hang out being right in the middle of a shopping center and right across from Red Ribbon, or is that Goldilocks? Â Anyways, on to the review...
The first time I went here it was on a Thursday night and it was pretty dead. Â Not that many people but I enjoyed the company of friends. Â That review would have warranted 2.5 stars.
The second time I went there is what gives this the 4 star rating. Â It helps to have a friend who knows the bartender and hooks it up with drinks the whole night!!! Â Not to mention avoiding the cover by that relationship as well. Â That right there is worth 4 stars alone. Â Anyways, this time around it was pretty poppin' and I had a grand old time, esp. when I didn't have to shell out any money and got pretty wasted and almost fell a few times. Â The crowd is your typical Asian invasion as it usually is around this part (Cerritos, Lakewood, Long Beach, etc.) but like I said, being with friends who knows the bartender is what made this night a good one. Â Parking is pretty easy because the rest of the shopping center is closed. Â It's pretty easy to chill outside and cool off before you head back in. Â Also, I didn't like the people who were on stage w/ the DJ and had control of the microphone. Â They were saying some stupid stuff sometimes and trying to hit on girls who were dancing. Â Having a mic doesn't compensate for your looks...
And umm...what's up with girls staring? Â If I wanted to dance with you I would have done it already. Â Then again, it's only a dance, right? Â I should really improve on that.
And lastly, I have to take off a star for the fact that the bartender hooked it up so much that my friend threw up in the back seat of my car (missing the plastic bag that was given to her) and that my other friend who stayed at my place didn't "officially" wake up until 2 PM.
The food here is pretty good (most of the time)- the other day i had visited with a coupld of friends. Atmosphere was alright, there were a few live bands playing, good amount of people just hanging out and having a good time. When i had asked for the bill it read $45 for a plate of $12 calamari (which may i add needed lemon and seasoning and was a bit overcooked) Â They had added an automatic cover charge, which i was not aware of for everyone sitting around the table, some of them had not even joined us until the appetizers were through. That was outrageous and i refused to pay, however the waitress followed me around the entire restaraunt and i could not enjoy my time there, once i finally paid she demanded a tip. SO IPEACED THE F* OUT! so to the waitress at the O bar, heres your tip lady---stop charging people unjustly.
Review Source:*** Review for the bar/club only. Did not eat food here.
Came here on a Friday or was it a Saturday night? for a friend of mine. He usually spins in Hollywood but was contacted to bring some electronica to Cerritos. As usual, I have to support the homies, so we all came down here.
DJ JR GUTIERREZ in the house! It was interesting because it's obviously a restaurant which got turned into a club at night, but they didn't move out many of the tables so it was really crowded. Also, they put JR up after a live group that did some hip hop so it was a difficult transition. Of course we all danced while he spun some good ass trance and house, but it was kinda weird. Dance floor was too small, too many tables, not much room on the patio, but hey, at least we tried to break some electronica out into Cerritos. Next time!
As usual, the S&G center has horrible parking so good luck on that one.
Note: Move some of the tables out, have a cohesive music flow, and I think this place would be more poppin. We don't have anywhere to dance in Cerritos so it would be good! :) O! Also, move some tables out of the patio too or put some smaller ones (bar tables).
:)
Haven't had the chance to dine here. Â My review is strictly based on the after hours club at this joint on Saturday nights. Â Surprisingly after two visits, I actually enjoy this place. Â They have decent live bands playing 80's music to more current R&B jams. Â I must admit , these old folks are actually quite talented. Â They give me hope that maybe ONE DAY I can be a D-grade rock star at the tender age of 45.
My biggest gripe is how this place gets so crowded. Â No capacity in this place so it could get quite grueling walking around inside. Â You'll definitely rub shoulders with people the whole night. Â Also ... who the heck charges $10 cover for a bar located in Cerritos. Â One word - NUTS!
The vibe in this place is alright. Â Majority of the patrons are Filipinos in their mid to late 30's. Â Drinks are reasonable and it's nice to be able to sip on Red Horse and San Miguel which most establishment I frequent do not serve.
I wouldn't mind stopping by occasionally for some good music and a drink since it's roughly 5 miles away from the house. Â I definitely cant see myself as a regular. Â O Bar recently had Jeff Timmons from the old 98 degrees as their headline. Â It was hilarious. Â I'd pay again to see middle aged women throw their panties on stage.
So I was REALLY debating on whether or not to give this place a 3 or 4 because....well....it's just not that easy. Â
What I really liked about this place was the Cheesecake Factory-like ambiance & decor for such a small place. Â My meal wasn't that great & it was a "house special". Â I had some pasta type thing because it had sundried tomatoes & well...it just sucked. Â The noodles were hard & it just wasn't very edible. Â Everyone else meal looked pretty good though!! Â There was some chicken dish that sounded plain but was plated very nicely & tasted really good. Â So much for going with the fancy-schmancy sounding dish. Â The soup & dessert were better than my meal though, so that made up for it. Â
The prices were pretty decent too. Â They offer pre fixe meals at reasonable prices so that was a plus! Â If you go before a certain time (I really can't remember but i'm thinking before 7 or 8) the pre fixe meals are offered at 1/2 the price. Â
The location kinda sucks because it's in that strip mall of South St. & it gets really busy there at night so just be prepared for that. Â
They offer a full bar  & it turns into a pretty cool club on Thursday nights.
