Great weather and crowd today! Spent Spring Break in Hot Springs and were so excited to get to see some horse racing.  We went twice.  The first time was on a Monday and it was empty. We got a box right near the windows, next to us was a guy that owned the box and his friend was an owner of a horse that was running.  He was very helpful in teaching me the ropes of horse racing and betting on horses.  Each of us had our own system for picking our horse.  Mom picked based on color, I went by stats, look of the horse, and names.  It was fun, we won but not big.

The highlight of the trip to Oaklawn was the Ruben Sandwich!!!! OMG.  We all loved it.  Jucey, grilled, lots of thick cut meat, toppings to add.  Came with chips, pickle, and a drink.

We came back on Saturday for a high stakes race and sat in reserved seating next to some nice local season ticket holders that really knew their horse racing.  They were friendly and gave us a few inside tips.  Dad like going down to the paddock to check out the horses up close before placing his bets.  We again got the RUBEN! This may have been the main reason my mom went twice. I would highly recommend this place to anyone! We visited the casino once but it wasn't anything super special.  Overall this was one of the highlights of our trip to Hot Springs.

Very fun!  So many people and seeing the hats are fun.  The place is huge! Again, everyone is so very nice and friendly.  There are many levels, so if you just want to grab a hot dog, head to the top level where there is never a line. Coady Photography is amazing.  They take the most incredible pictures of the races I have ever seen.  A great place for fun, food and entertainment.

I've been to Oaklawn twice for the Rebel stakes race on St. Patty's weekend and it's been a lot of fun both times. If you don't know anything about horse racing it can be intimidating, but you can ask for betting information at the counter and at least have fun making the basic win/place/show bets. Oaklawn is big and smells like horse poop and fried state fair food. People bring their kids here and smoke all over the place and yell like assholes when their horse wins or loses. It's great.

Although I love the horse track, I have to say that coming from Kansas City I was not that impressed with the casino area. It was small and the games were all the newer video slots with none of the traditional ones. Even though I was playing on a Sunday early afternoon it was packed and people were still being jerks and playing two machines at once. I spent about 30 minutes in the casino and then went back to the horse track for some real gaming fun.

They will take your money but if you're stupid enough to give it to them, you deserve it.

Not like it used to be but it serves a purpose.

I love Oaklawn during racing season; the live racing is a lot of fun! I love to hang out in the New York area. It's hard to find this section of the race track, but if you can find it, you'll notice it's 1/2 as crowded as everywhere else.

The casino has definitely improved. I am still not satisfied with the game selection here, but they are slowly bringing in more options. Even after expanding, I still think this place is too small for the amount of traffic they see through here. At busy times, you have to stand around waiting for a seat. I am also not a big fan of the video craps and roulette table (my favorite games in the "real" casinos.) Something just tells me these things are rigged and not random. But who knows...

You can definitely have a lot of fun here even if you aren't a big gambler. The horse racing is exciting and after a few drinks, you'll be screaming along with the avid gamers for Number 5 "Winner-winner-chicken-dinner"!

This place is so much fun...if you're in the club lounge! Plush sofas in the boxes, nice waiters, fabulous food, gorgeous view, private elevator entrance...this is the place to go if you want to watch the race. A whole different world than the stands outside (and a lot warmer in the winter!). Definitely worth the money! I can't wait to come back for the Derby (a $1 million pot!) in April!

Dinner at Lagniappe's.  Steak, Potato, Green Beans, Salad.  Enjoyed the meal.

If you are going here to play poker don't waste you time. There are no real cards it's all done on a computer screen. The table set up like a poker table with a screen in front of you. The thing I missed most was holding my chips. Just isn't the same. If this is the future of gaming it's not for me. I think I'll save the gas money and play on line.

Very nice casino and race track.  Like all casinos, will quickly take your money.

Oaklawn is always bustling and full of hype while in season. On opening day, they have $0.50 corned beef sandwiches and $0.10 fountain drinks. During the rest of the season, admission is $2, concession stands have average pricing, and it's all about placing some bets and (hopefully) making some money.

Plenty of seating inside and out, which makes for a great visit despite the temperature. Good for children and adults alike. Overall, a day at Oaklawn promises to be fun filled.

    Horse race track.

This is the one and only race track I have ever been too. This place gets bustling with people especially during times when they are hosting special events as in the spring when I have been there in the past..

Place your bets at the walk up windows, watch current & other races on the TV monitors, you can also watch from an extremely close vantage points seating very close to the track.

Hopefully you win big and collect your winnings after.

This place was somewhat overwhelming for me since I don't know much about the "ponies."
