This place was surprisingly busy considering it was kind of in the middle of nowhere.
It was the perfect rest stop/lunch break for my friend and me on the Friday before the long Labor Day weekend. I felt bad for the one main waitress working there. As I was paying the bill afterwards, she mentioned her manager had taken the day off, which I think usually isn't a good idea especially before a holiday weekend. She looked swamped and slightly flustered, but she held it together pretty well.
I went with the steak and eggs, and ordered a mocha to go, while my friend went with the rueben. The steak wasn't that great, but I knew not to expect much from a diner. My friend seemed to enjoy her rueben though. She ended up having to take home half the sandwich because the portions were pretty sizable. I liked my mocha and it kept me awake through the rest of the drive up to Redding.
Service was extremely friendly, though understandably slow because of the lack of staff. I think they only had 1 cook as well, and one helper who bused tables and provided silverware.
We stopped in for dinner after a really long  day driving, and had no expectations beyond it being a diner.
I am a vegetarian (ovo-lacto), and there was not anything on the dinner or lunch menu I would eat. So, I perused the breakfast menu and found a veggie omelette.
I've eaten omelettes in some pretty high-end restaurants, and this was easily the best one I have ever had. Overstuffed with grilled veggies, fluffy beyond imagination, cooked perfectly. My wife had the same meal and loved it, too.
The hashbrowns were crispy perfect, too, though nothing special. The weakest part was the sourdough toast that was not very sourdoughy. I also ordered a simple side salad; if you do, specify the dressing on the side, or you will end up with a huge glob in the middle of the greens.
The interior could use a makeover. But, the service was quick and friendly, and the  cost quite reasonable.
the worst restaurant i have been to in years, their definition of a caesar salad is a small plate of iceberg lettuce with cheese on top, they charge $8 for this, in addition the steak fries they give with burgers that they claim are "wonderful" were scattered with old, small leftover fries, and the food is not cheap, better off going to the wendy's next door
Review Source:I really have no idea why this place is getting such good ratings, there is nothing classic or truck stop about it. I stopped here with my 13 month old son to get something other then fast food and after my experience I wish I had eaten the Wendy's right next door. All though the service was good the food was HORRIBLE!!! I ordered chicken strips an fries for myself and a grilled cheese for my son. It seemed not only was all my food out of the fryer but it looked like my sons grilled cheese was deep fried as well. The cheese was hard as a rock and pretty much uneatable. The menu has over 100 items on it and anyone that knows anything knows no restaurant can hold that much food without freezing it. So pretty much everything on the menu is frozen to order. If you want my opinion go to the Wendy's at the gas station next door.
Review Source:When out exploring for the entire day, exhaustion is further staved off by the pounding fact that appetite wins over, every single time.
After driving for a bit, we stopped by a Chevron to fill up and since the attendant's recommendation to hit the Jack in the Box across the street did not weigh well with us, I did a quick search on Yelp and found Oasis Grill.
First, let me state that I am a big fan of truck stops. Â They are perfect in that they are public hubs of checkins ranging from the wary traveler to the haulers of trailers across state lines. Â In addition to a larger gas station for filling up on gas (Pilot, in this case) there are usually shower facilities and usually, a diner.
Oasis Grill bears no resemblance to the awesome 70's diner decor on the inside. Â The neutral shades reflect the color scheme of that year, right down to the clay colored vinyl booths and the vinyl tinged stools at the counter. Â The front part of the establishment is geared toward tourists...with trinkets and items reminiscent of the area, up for sale.
I am glad I skipped Granzella's back in Williams because the prices here don't shock me as much. Â Most of the items on this menu are under $10 and a 1/2 pounder for around $8? Â I was too eager to try it, especially since it came with slices of avo, melted Swiss, and sandwiched between one of the softest French rolls in my life. Â My travel companion ordered the Swiss Mushroom burger and it was topped off by the thick slices of fresh mushrooms, none of that canned crap I've seen at other cheap-ass diners. Â But the creme de la creme? Â The steak cut french fries. Â They must fry them in bacon fat or something damn tasty since they were pretty much the tastiest french fries I've ever had. Â I asked for a side of ranch dressing, and it was also tops. Â The couple across from us had both ordered the chili burgers and I must admit, my next stop here may have to request it. Â It was a platter of hot food: burger covered in hot chili and melting cheese. Â It was a beautiful monster.
Perfectly cooked to medium rare, large juicy burgers, and great/friendly customer service to boot. Â One of the main reasons I venture lightly when out in areas that are usually devoid of diversity is because of the obvious racial crap I've encountered through my years of travel. Â Nothing here. Â I felt right at home, despite the fact that I was the only minority representing.
There is a reason as to why truck stops are successful. Â Drivers are not going to frequent an establishment if it tastes horrid. Â I have a feeling their breakfast plates are pretty good too. Â My new go-to spot when traveling up north in the near future.
Oasis Grill is a classic truck stop diner that serves breakfast all day as well as sandwiches, burgers, steaks, and desserts. The dining room has comfortable booth style seating and a friendly ambiance. There is even a large TV high on the wall so single diners can catch the news. The service is friendly and attentive. The food is good and the prices right. Highly recommended if you are traveling I-5 near Dunnigan!
Review Source:We stopped for lunch on our way up I-5. The Oasis is right off the freeway so it was very convenient.
The homemade chicken soup was really really good. It was obvious all the ingredients were fresh and care was taken in preparing the foodl.,
The BLT had lots of thick slice bacon.....yummy.
Would definitely stop by again.
My friend and I planned a Cache Creek trip on labor day weekend hoping to score a room at the casino. Unfortunately everything was booked, and we were relegated to stay at a motel 6. this was the closest restaurant/diner to our room, and we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food and service. Excellent place to stop and get a bite to eat.
Review Source:My wife and I stopped here mainly because it was time for breakfast. Located next to a big truck stop, it was pretty much what you would expect. One minor annoying thing was the building construction essentially wiped out cell phone coverage and they sold paid WiFi access.
Our breakfast was decent, essentially nothing different that would would get from a run-of-mill Denny's. There was nothing bad about the experience but like the 2-star rating says, "Meh. I've experienced better." If you are in the area and need a breakfast, it's acceptable but not memorable.
This diner is owner operated by a retired Korean nurse-which explains several anomallies: Â healthy tasting burgers, fresh crisp iceberg lettuce, squeeky clean environment and no chinese stir-fry. Â And just because the owner looks asian doesn't mean you're going to be able to order chinsese food.

For years we've been hoping for a truck stop or cafe or any good place to stop for early dinner on our I-5 drive south between Williams and Sacramento. Â We usually arrive at Dunnigan about 3 or 4:00 and are ready for a bite to eat before driving home. Â Bill & Kathy's used to be a good stop, but in recent years, it wasn't so good, then it closed. Â We haven't tried the Oasis yet, but from all reviews it seems to be the ideal place, and we'll definitely stop there on December 3 this year.
Prosper Magazine did a wonderful story in its July 2007 issue, and also produced a video. Â The article can be found here, and the video is linked at the bottom.

Correction as of Jan 2008: Â Bill & Kathy's is NOT closed....the closure last year must have been of very short duration. Â When we drove by in November it did look open, and it also looked as if it may have been updated on the exterior.
