This place was surprisingly busy considering it was kind of in the middle of nowhere.
It was the perfect rest stop/lunch break for my friend and me on the Friday before the long Labor Day weekend. I felt bad for the one main waitress working there. As I was paying the bill afterwards, she mentioned her manager had taken the day off, which I think usually isn't a good idea especially before a holiday weekend. She looked swamped and slightly flustered, but she held it together pretty well.
I went with the steak and eggs, and ordered a mocha to go, while my friend went with the rueben. The steak wasn't that great, but I knew not to expect much from a diner. My friend seemed to enjoy her rueben though. She ended up having to take home half the sandwich because the portions were pretty sizable. I liked my mocha and it kept me awake through the rest of the drive up to Redding.
Service was extremely friendly, though understandably slow because of the lack of staff. I think they only had 1 cook as well, and one helper who bused tables and provided silverware.
