I saw all the 5 star reviews for this place and was somewhat in the neighborhood so decided to give it a try. Â I'm also a barbeque fan and am always looking for a good barbeque place.
I would say based on eating lunch here once that this is really decent place and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Â I had a pulled pork plate with beans and collards as sides. Â The pork was tender and moist, and they serve a pretty good portion for the $8.50 price. Â The beans were excellent and were not too heavy on barbecue sauce, and were somewhat spicy hot, which gave a good contrast to the pork. Â The collards were just OK with nothing special about them.
The server was very friendly and the service was fast and efficient, though it wasn't too crowded when I was there. Â This is not a sit down restaurant; you order at a counter and your food is then delivered to you. Â They have standard fountain drinks but no alcoholic beverages. Â The decor on the interior walls is interesting.
I would strongly recommend eating here if you're in the area and want a quick barbeque meal. Â I'd like to come back and try some of the other items on their menu.
First visit to the Oink Joint. Â
The pulled pork sandwich was great. Â I'm normally a fan of vinegar based sauces (and they do have one) but their sweet sauce was very good. Â The fries were just OK (kind of reminded me of the frozen ones from the grocery store) so I'll probably try a different side next time.
I would have only rated it 4 stars because of the fries but I think the name "Oink Joint" is worth at least one bonus star!
Looking forward to another trip.
Nice little place. Â Had pulled pork and sampled the brisket. Â Pork was a little dry, the brisket was great. Â 3 sauces to try: vinegar, sweet, and spicy. Â All a little watery compared to Kansas style, but with good taste. Â Sides were tasty. Â Root Beer in chilled mug hit the spot. Â One of the best Georgia style BBQ joints I've found. Â Worth a stop.
