I saw all the 5 star reviews for this place and was somewhat in the neighborhood so decided to give it a try. Â I'm also a barbeque fan and am always looking for a good barbeque place.
I would say based on eating lunch here once that this is really decent place and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Â I had a pulled pork plate with beans and collards as sides. Â The pork was tender and moist, and they serve a pretty good portion for the $8.50 price. Â The beans were excellent and were not too heavy on barbecue sauce, and were somewhat spicy hot, which gave a good contrast to the pork. Â The collards were just OK with nothing special about them.
The server was very friendly and the service was fast and efficient, though it wasn't too crowded when I was there. Â This is not a sit down restaurant; you order at a counter and your food is then delivered to you. Â They have standard fountain drinks but no alcoholic beverages. Â The decor on the interior walls is interesting.
I would strongly recommend eating here if you're in the area and want a quick barbeque meal. Â I'd like to come back and try some of the other items on their menu.
First visit to the Oink Joint. Â
The pulled pork sandwich was great. Â I'm normally a fan of vinegar based sauces (and they do have one) but their sweet sauce was very good. Â The fries were just OK (kind of reminded me of the frozen ones from the grocery store) so I'll probably try a different side next time.
I would have only rated it 4 stars because of the fries but I think the name "Oink Joint" is worth at least one bonus star!
Looking forward to another trip.
Nice little place. Â Had pulled pork and sampled the brisket. Â Pork was a little dry, the brisket was great. Â 3 sauces to try: vinegar, sweet, and spicy. Â All a little watery compared to Kansas style, but with good taste. Â Sides were tasty. Â Root Beer in chilled mug hit the spot. Â One of the best Georgia style BBQ joints I've found. Â Worth a stop.
Review Source:The Oink Joint on the square in Zebulon is awesome.  You can't go wrong at the Oink Joint but my favorite is the Pulled Pork Taco.  The jalapeño coleslaw and BBQ sauce give it a great unique spicy taste.  If requested, they will make the same taco with pulled chicken.  Their stew is also outstanding.  This is a great place for a leisurely meal.  Great food, special owners, and a great atmosphere.
Review Source:We stopped here while visiting the Jimmy Carter Library and his home town of Plains. Â On our way back to Atlanta we discovered the listing on YELP! Â We had the plated meats with 2 sides. Â We were so disappointed the restaurant had run out of Mac & Cheese ( said there would be a 40 minute wait for fresh)--- this is why I give 3 stars. Â Worth the stop if you are passing through though.
Review Source:If the courthouse square location in the boondocks doesn't charm you, then the cheese-it topped mac and cheese sure will!
I'm grateful my friend and fellow yelper Natalie S. recommended this spot for a dinner meet up when I was in the Macon area. Â It's a little bit of a haul from, well, anywhere, but certainly a great meal if nearby and worth the drive if you're a BBQ aficionado.
That mac and cheese is a must order as far as I'm concerned. Â It's creamy and cheesey with just the perfect bite still left to the noodles, and the cheese-it crusty topping is icing on the cake. Â For the entree, I went with the fatboy sandwich, and oh em gee, y'all, it was flippin' fantastic. Â They were out of the brisket, so I subbed pulled pork, and it's a substitution I would probably request in the future. Â It's a heart attack on bread, but jalapeno mayo, pimento cheese, and all the fixins never tasted so good.
It was surprisingly packed for a Friday night in the bustling (not) town of Zebulon, so you may have to circle the square for street parking and wait for a moment for a table, but I guarantee it's worth it. Â This Coca Cola girl was also happy that this order at the counter establishment had a self serve coke fountain with unlimited refills. Â Five stars all around.
Literally some of the BEST barbeque I have ever had (home cooked, restaurant style, competitive cooking, etc.) ! Located in a small spot on the square in Zebulon, Georgia,  I stopped in one day on my way back to Fort Rucker, AL  to give them a shot. For my first trip I tried their pulled pork plate with cole slaw and potato salad. The pull pork was an amazing first impression. The pork was very flavorful, juicy, and tender. I was recommended their two popular sauces; Sweet and Vinger sauce. The sweet sauce is my favorite, not to bold and just right for the sweetness. The vinger sauce was a little to much of a bite for me. The potato salad was very good and a good complement to the pork. The cole slaw was ok, I've made better. I was so won over by them I couldn't wait to go back. I made an excuse to head up to Atlanta the next weekend so I could go back. This time I took my fiancee to show her how awesome this place is. So far I've had their chicken (just as great as the pork), brisket (outstanding), the Fat Boy sandwich and  the Georgia Style Reuben which are unique, one of a kind, and WINNING! Seriously, No matter where you are the drive is worth it! Oh by the way, they can honestly say they have award-winning barbeque. Go check out their trophys. Because soon they are going to need a bigger restaurant to fit all the other ones they have coming!
Review Source:Delicious! My two sisters and I had the Fatboy - brisket, pimiento cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and jalapeno mayonnaise. (I switched the brisket for the award-winning pulled chicken) Two of us had macaroni and cheese as a side, and it was great! The Fatboy, however, was the star of the show. The pimiento cheese was not too heavy and was not too thick for the bread. I recommend trying to put the sauce (I chose vinegar) directly on the meat, because the cheese acts as a barrier of sorts, but the pickles and onion cut the creaminess of the mayo and pimiento cheese perfectly. It was unbelievably good...my mom (sausage / chicken combo plate) and my dad (1 pound, yes pound, of brisket) were very jealous and kept eyeing the three girls' plates. Luckily, I was able to protect my sandwich until I was done, but the family agreed a second trip was a certainty, even given that we have to drive from Macon to Zebulon. My aunt highly recommended the tacos, and I've heard they are great. Next time, I'll give them a whirl!
Review Source:All the prizes and awards displayed here have been earned! It's a small place, but our group of 7 enjoyed a Friday lunch here (good thing we arrived before noon when it filled up). Â The pulled pork is tender, moist, and perfectly smoked. The chicken thighs fall off the bone and have just the right amount of sauce. The brisket held it's own and the chicken tenders are large with the right amount of breading. There are plenty of sides and unusual menu options. Ribs are only available Friday and Saturday nights-we will make a trip back there to try them!
