Nice little diner located downtown in Sheldon. The day I stopped in, the special was "Hearty Stew," a plate full of beef, potatoes, carrots, onions and green beans in creamy broth. This was over two nice homemade drop-biscuits. Delicious!
The meal came with beverage, choice of salad or soup (creamy potato with ham) and pie. They had homemade apple, cherry and blueberry. I chose the cherry. The whole meal was just north of six dollars.
"Mom & Jake's American Blend Menu" includes twelve different hamburgers ranging from $2.25 to $8.00, which gets you the "Gut Bomb." This is made with 3 burgers, 3 cheeses, bacon, sauteed onion and green peppers. They have eight other non-burger sandwiches and the usual assorted diner sides.
For dessert there is home made pie -- ask your server what is available for the day. Maybe with a scoop of ice cream?
They have a nice breakfast lineup with all of the usual suspects: eggs any way, omelets, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, French toast, cinnamon roll, pecan roll, sausage, bacon, and ham. Also hash browns and American fries. The only thing I expected to see and didn't was corned beef hash.
Between 4 pm and 8 pm they also make homemade pizza in 3 sizes with your choice of toppings.
Open 6 am to 8 pm every day except Sunday. Their mission: "To Serve Our Hometown -- One Person At A Time." I forgot to ask about the picture on the wall of a woman (is it "Mom"?) wit Roy Rogers! Maybe you can ask for me?
This place is really genuine, likable and super friendly. Diner food & home cooking come to mind. If you are in the vicinity or passing through this is a very pleasant meal.
