Came in for a beer, left having three and a pretzel. I think all vegetarians left Germany during the war, so German food is not usually my top pick. The pub downstairs is excellent. A cozy, fun spot. Great draft beer options fair prices for what is offered. I ordered a pretzel to nosh on, and was happy to see a huge pretzel the size of the plate. it was served with melted butter and spicy mustard, I would definitely come back for another beer or two, or three.
Review Source:Old Heidelberg was awesome! Good food and good service. While we were deciding where to eat in helen, someone passing by on the street pointed us in the Old Heidelberg's direction. We started off with the bavarian krautkrapfen. They are these amazing little biscuits made with sauerkraut and bacon, then topped off with more bacon! Very yummy! For our entree, we got the pork cordon bleu. It was perfectly crispy and was very tender. We got the homemade spatzl, which had a great texture and was dressed in brown gravy. And definitely the best thing for dinner was the red cabbage. It was sweet and sour, and was just soooo good! For dessert, the home made apple strudel is a must! The flaky pastry was divine! I also recommend trying a shot of the underberg with the strudel. It's kind of like jager, but has a lot of spicy cinnamon notes  that compliment the strudel quite nicely.
Review Source:$40 for das boot and you to keep the boot! Â Always a good time.
The food is great if you know what to order. Â Skip the appz because the potato pancakes were a total rip off. Â The Wurst sampler is better than the other sampler... unless ur a fan of smoked pork chops (tasted like baked ham). Â I love their mashed potatoes, the brats were worth the $ and I'm a fan of their vinegary beets. Â If you're not in the mood for wieners.. then the Mushroom Schintzel is pretty good. Â This place is touristy but still a nice place to celebrate Oktoberfest!
The food is great. The lower part of Old Heidlberg is a bar. I only passed through it to get to the 2nd floor where the restraunt was. The bar area had pool tables, music, and of course a gigantic bar. The restraunt upstairs was nice, modest seating. The restraunt offers great beer deals that allow you to keep whatever stein you drank from, its expensive but a good find if you are into collecting steins/boots etc.
The restraunt boasts  an actual chef that was flown in. I have no complaints from the food, as I never really do. Good place for a nice dinner with the wife. Prost!
