Old Post Office Restaurant

We've been coming to Door County for years, and just tried this place for the first time. We had breakfast, and everything was delicious. Prices were great too, and we even had a view of the bay from our table inside. The hostess was very friendly and efficient, the decor inside is really cute, and there's a nice patio with outdoor seating. I think my only "complaint" would be the lack of a kids menu. But for breakfast, we were able to find enough for the kids to nibble on from everyone else's orders. We'll definitely be back.

We have been going to the Old Post Office for more than 15 years. The fish and fried chicken are great. Earl, the boil master, is a hoot and knows how to put on a good show....his jokes will make you wanting more:) "Just for the halibut!"

It's unfortunate that this experience was an unpleasant one. Right off the bat, the hostess, I'm assuming the same as in a previous review, was very snippy and rude. When we asked where we were sitting she stated, "I thought the two highchairs would have given it away." I read a previous review, written 12 days ago, and their experince was a carbon copy of ours. We were asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside and choose outside. When we sat down the bees were so bad we asked to be seated inside....considering half the restaurant was empty.  They moved us with no problem, but the hostess and crew proceeded to talk about our table in plan sight.....totally unprofessional. We actually called them on it and spoke to the hostess and what appeared to be a manager. They denied everything and never apologized for any of the mishaps. Also, even though the food is good....it's super expensive for the amount of food you get.....$15 for a kids fish meal....and $4 for just a hotdog!

This experience has given us a bad tatste in our mouth to say the least.

Very disappointing experience.  My family ate here for the fish boil, because all of the others in the area were booked up.  I guess that should have told me something.

The view was incredible, and watching the actual fish boil was a neat experience.

When we made our reservation, they asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside. That's a tough question to answer two days in advance, when you don't know what the weather will be, but we said outside.  When we arrived, it was hot and muggy so we asked if we could be seated inside. Since half the restaurant was empty, you would think this wouldn't be a problem, but the hostess (who seemed to be running the operation) was clearly upset.  She said, "well, I guess, but we already have you set up outside.  I'll have to move the water and silverware".  Ok.....

She literally huffed and puffed while she did this.  

Our bill was $65 for two fish boils and a kids chicken tender.  Pretty outrageous considering you only get two pieces of fish and have to serve yourself.

Also, this is a dry town, so you can't get a drink.  

Ok food, but bad service and hospitality ruined the experience.
