Oscar & Joey's Roadhouse is great! Â Our service was very friendly, food was delicious, and prices were very reasonable. Â My husband, friend, and I stopped here on our way home from up north. Â We started off with kangaroo meatballs and my husband had elk soup. Â All three of us had the buffalo burger. Â The meatballs were moist, tender, and coated in a flavorful BBQ sauce. Â I'm usually not one to eat exotic foods but thought these were great. Â My husband really liked his elk soup. Â Our burgers were great--cooked to a perfect medium, moist, flavorful, and HUGE. Â
You only get the delicious bread and maple butter with entrees, but our server brought us a sample when we asked about it. Â That maple butter is better than any cinnamon butter I've ever had. Â There are many things on the menu we can't wait to try when we return.
They are very close to I-75, making it a convenient and delicious pit-stop as you're traveling.
Don't let the outside or inside fool you. The food here is very good and homemade. Had the Lake Perch dinner which was fresh. Beef soup before was tasty. My friend had the New Orleans something . Wow was that huge. He couldn't finish it. Wild Boar, crab cluster, mussels, clams, scallops in a spicy jambalaya type sauce over linguine. Desserts are homemade by Grandma, a 92 year old woman that makes the best pies. Don't pass this one up.
Review Source:Not sure why this place gets such rave reviews. It's a townie dive bar that serves decent homemade food. The menu is full of game, so if you go nuts for that sort of thing, you might be especially impressed. The staff was super friendly, portions were huge, and they start your meal with a bread basket that includes some homemade banana bread (served with maple butter), so I give them that, but otherwise this seemed like a place locals contentedly frequent, and travelers stop into only because it's conveniently located near their hotel.
Not bad by any means, but not great either.
So much food so little price. Â Crawdad bites for an appetizer was awesome, lake perch was awesome, and burger was awesome. Â The animal mounts along the wall made it feel down home and northern country. Â Almost a dive bar feel, the food was awesome and our server was fantastic. Â Don't overlook this place!
Review Source:Even though the service we recieved was pretty poor, the food is outstanding. Â The Buffalo Sausage is to die for and the portions are huge! Â Guess I can put up with the service for the quality of the food.
The restaurant seems a little run down but don't let that fool you into thinking this is not an outstanding place to eat. Â The service kept it from 5 stars.
