Oscar's has never disappointed, and whenever my friends and I are in the area, we are sure to stop by.  We first discovered Oscar's in 2005 when we were in the area for a training ride preparing to ride 100 miles on our bicycles.  Now, we come back to the area at least once a year for the annual MS Ride in nearby Pine Mountain.  This was my third visit, and two of my friends who joined me this time came last year when they were  here and I took a year off from riding.

Anyway, on to the reason why we love it.  First, there isn't a lot to choose from in the area, so you have to go with the place the locals recommend, and Oscar's definitely fits that bill.  Second, the hush puppies are incredible and I always get an order of them even if my food doesn't come with them by default.  Third, the atmosphere is fun and laid back and something you won't get just anywhere.

On this visit, I thought I would save room for the pecan pie and go with a salad and an appetizer for my meal.  The salad was nothing special, but it was fresh and tasty.  My appetizer was the fried green tomatoes, and they were awesome!  Only problem I had, was they turned out to be awfully sweet as did the hush puppies which made me a little nervous to be topping it off with a super sweet pecan pie.  But, it was all good in the end, and I enjoyed the meal all around.  The only complaint about the pecan pie was that the slice was a tad small for the price.  I would recommend going for the chocolate cake in future (my friend did, and I tasted a piece and can recommend it).

My friends went with a cheeseburger and the halibut sandwich, and both enjoyed them.  The fries in particular received compliments.  I know that last year they had the chicken breast plate, and the sirloin if I'm recalling the conversation accurately.  They both came close to repeating that order, but opted to try something new, and in the case of the friend who ordered the cheeseburger, I know he was saving room for the cake as well.

Anyway, the wait staff was friendly, with a sense of humor and all around we enjoyed our time at Oscar's and I'm sure we will be back next year when we are in town for the 26th MS Ride.

We went to Oscar's for my birthday. I had never been before, but wanted to go out to a restaurant in the Pine Mountain area and let's face it, options are very limited. So,  we decided we should try Oscar's. It was pretty good, but there were some shortcomings. I ordered a Coke and it was flat. Turned out they don't have a fountain (unclear whether theirs was just not functional or they don't have one, period). The server said it was poured from a can. It tasted like a room-temperature or warm Coke from a can, which caused the ice to melt and water down the Coke. That was disappointing.
I ordered the Grouper Imperial, which didn't impress me. However, the baked potato, cole slaw, and asparagus were excellent. Also, the breadsticks they bring before the meal are really good, as breadsticks go, some of the best I have ever had. Instead of those dry, tasteless ones you get at Olive Garden, these were light and fluffy and delicious. I tasted the filet mignon and it was SUPERB! I want to go back so I can get that as my entree! My advice is to skip the seafood and go with the filet. It was so tender and so tasty. Service was good, and we definitely plan to go back.

My husband and I stayed in Pine Mountain/ Warm Springs Ga. 5 days...We were told Oscars had great food and decided to try it...We LOVED it so much, we ate there 3 nights ! I am a vegetarian and was so happy w/ the food ! The asparagus is the best I have ever had in any restaurant- crisp, seasoned well-PERFECT ! I ordered it each time. The baked sweet potato and the baked potato were very good, and the sauteed mushrooms were also the BEST I have ever had...I poured the mushrooms over the baked potato---YUM !!  My husband had the NY Steak each time and thought it was excellent...We also enjoyed the key lime pie...Haley our waitress was totally awesome...she took care of us each time....The first night we were there, classical music played in the background.....This is a Gem and the best restaurant in the area....We actually went into another restaurant that had been suggested by a few others, and after looking at the buffet, we quickly drove to Oscar's.....I don't think our time in Georgia would have been as memorable w/out Oscar's !!!!! Wish I could import you to California !!!

for fans of TRUE BLOOD---Oscars reminded us of an 'upscale' Merlott's.....Just a little added 'bonus' for us....driving through the mountain top looked just like scenes out of True Blood......

I really hate to give this place only two stars. The service was friendly and the place has its share of charm BUT the food was just so so. Oscar's has a nice $29 for two value menu that gets each diner a salad, entree w/side dish and the table can share an app or dessert.

We appreciated the deal but the food is incredibly average and it's just thrown on the plate. I ordered angus beef tips with gravy and rice pilaf. My dining companion ordered a steak and sweet potato. Our food arrived cafeteria style with everything in its own little dish on one big plate. That was a bit surprising for a supposedly nice restaurant. I must say, my steak tips were pretty tasty but the rest was on par with a picadilly cafeteria. Edible but forgettable.

Also beyond the $29 value menu, the prices were a bit steep. Most things were in the $16 range. Now granted, Oscar's is one of the only eating establishments in Warm Springs so we were VERY glad to find it. And as we drove down the dirt road past lovely trees and grazing horses, then walked up to the gracious farm house we were totally charmed. The greeting was warm and we were seated right away. All these positives make me sad to give Oscar's two stars but the food is just "meh." Ain't no gettin' round it.
