I came here for the first time back in March after a softball game. I'm used to the Ott's in Medford so I was pretty surprised walking in and seeing how big this one was in comparison. The menu is the same as the other Ott's so the consistency is nice, great beer specials, plenty of TV's around if you're there to watch whatever game happens to be playing. All around nice staff and very clean atmosphere!
Review Source:I loved this place when it was a dive bar. Â It took them a really long time to fix it after the fire. Â I have no idea why. Â I went in tonight for the first time in a very long time and the place was just not the same. Â
I miss the old wooden seats bar etc. Â we sat in the enclosed area on the porch. Â It was freezing and not enough heat. Â I slept with my jacket on and was still cold.
The menu is changed and they need to find the chef and food they had before the fire. Â I went with the idea of having a roast pork sandwich which I always liked there. Â It was taken off the menu.
They have all these wraps now and melts. Â Salads etc. Â give me old fashioned bar food.
They did not even have a good roast beef sandwich.
I ordered French onion soup which was not very good. My friend ordered the gumbo soup special and it came out cold. Â I mean cold. Â Not warm.
I ended up ordering a French dip was mediocre at best. Â They gave a half cup of au jus. Â The sandwich was small and not even full with meat to the end. Â The fries were not bad. Â The pickle was the best thing. Â And of course the Corona.
I guess the remodeling was more than they expected or did not get enough insurance money. Â Not going back soon.
My elderly parents were craving a good burger. Â My husband & I were looking for a casual, local place where we could bring our teenage kids for dinner, and still have a nice Sam Adams seasonal.
I was shocked when I walked in, as it had been about 5 years since I'd been here. Â It has been completely remodeled. Â Gone are the dark walls, hardwood floors, bar neons, etc. Â What I felt gave it character, made it friendly & comfortable. Â The place is marble & bright tangerine walls, fancy light fixtures & tile. Â Not exactly my cup of tea, I'm more a neighborhood tavern kinda girl, but I remembered they had very good bar food. Â Apparently that changed too. Â I don't really want to get into the dirty details, because I'd end up sounding nit picky, but they ended up taking $15 off our bill for inedible soup & mussels. Â The rest of our food was "just okay", not great but not awful. Â Service was horrendous, actually had to go up to the bar to complain, which is not something I ever do. Â
Do yourself a favor & scratch this one off your list. Â I will never go there again.
LIKES: nice big wrap around bar..lower drop ceiling painted black...they resisted making common mistake of painting exposed hvac and leaving it natural metal. Â DISLIKES: the area with the cathedral ceiling is FAR too bright...the space behind the bar is too big ...its actually distracting how much space there is because the bartenders pace around and bang into each other like a bunch of wind up toys....we ordered food and were not impressed at all...especially since it and we were cold....I was expecting much more since they had an opportunity to get it right.....but its early and they just re opened....I liked the newly remodeled outside and inside....just needs tweekin
Review Source:The new otts gets an a for atmosphere but food needs work. Â I was served cold chicken wings and my friends taco salad was not very good piled with too large lettuce peices and no other ingrdients. Also no more shuffleboard or pool table. I believe that will deter some people from going there that are used to that in the old otts
Review Source:The Ott's in Delran is my standby, but this one does the trick if I'm down in that neck of the woods (awesome farmer's markets!)
The burger was okay, the bartender was sweet and quick to get us more beers. Â I understand there's an outside area but it was too cold for us to be out there...inside is very dark and dreary so that made me sad :(
Ott's is the reason they invented the saying "It is what it is." Seriously, what you see is what you get. Not a great beer selection, but they've got beer. Food is there but it's nothing to write home about. People are hanging out, just chillin'. Bartenders who won't let you address them with "sir" or "miss." Just say "hey."
It's been a solid choice for getting out of the house when the electricity bailed out a few times this summer. Or a few years back when my sister turned 21 on a Tuesday. Or when my friend's wedding ended early and we needed to continue the binge.
Quizzo Wednesdays always promise a good time as do the Megatouch tuneskeeper and gaming devices.
The new outdoor patio and bar is almost a bit too classy for the raggedy indoors, but I'm not complaining.
This is definitely our neighborhood spot.
"Hey look, mister - we serve hard drinks in here for men who want to get drunk fast, and we don't need any characters around to give the joint "atmosphere". "
I think Jessica is missing the point in trying to categorize Ott's Green Top Inn: its just a bar. Although of the four Ott's in South Jersey, this is probably the runt of the litter. And you know what, that's just fine. Because sometimes you just want to sit at a bar and drink; maybe watch TV, listen to regulars and watch shuffleboard.
As for the "inn", that denotes hospitality; at Ott's the bartenders are always attentive, the food is served hot, and there are always a few characters that give the place atmosphere.
As I add this Ott's location to Yelp, I am struggling with how to categorize it. Â It's obviously a bar, but what kind of bar? Â It's not exactly a dive, though I didn't find the establishment (particularly the bathrooms) to be all that clean. Â I wouldn't consider it a sports bar, though there are TVs everywhere, a pool table and a shuffleboard table. Â I also wouldn't say it's a pub. Â The menu isn't comforting or inventive or Irish-inspired.
Seems like Ott's Green Top Inn is having an identity crisis. Â Why is it even called an Inn? Â There doesn't appear to be any lodging available...
Still, I suppose the service was quick enough. Â The patrons give off the vibe of local regulars (townies?) who go there for a relaxed place to drink and socialize. Â If that's all you're looking for, then I guess it doesn't matter what you call the place.
