  This place has the best chicken salad sandwich I have ever eaten.
  It is served on marble rye bread which is excellent.  Burgers are fresh hand patted 1/2 pound and excellent.  Roast beef on sourdough with horseradish spread is excellent.  The servers are very friendly!

  This is a family run restaurant that is open for lunch Tuesday through Saturday and dinner on Friday & Saturday. The normal lunch menu includes hamburgers, salads, soups, sandwiches, etc. They also have specials most every day for lunch. Their evening dinner meals (Fri. & Sat.) include prime rib, steaks and a few other special items. The food is great!
  They are located on the town square in beautiful downtown Mount Vernon.

  This is a great casual lunch spot tucked into the south side of the down town square.  The lunch menu is a typical soup/salad/sandwich cafe menu, however there are a few gems.
  
  1) Pretzel Burger - It's a cheese burger with sauteed mushrooms and onions served on a bun made of pretzel dough, its crisp on the outside and chewy in the center.  Skip the mayo and mustard and go for the soft cheese instead.
  
  2) Grilled Roast Beef - It's on toasted bread with a horse radish spread and grilled red onions.  
  
  3) Any salad - They are large salads with great toppings.
  
  They are open 2 nights a week (Fri - Sat) for dinner, however I have not ventured in, so I can't say anything up or down about the menu.
