Whenever I am traveling across the state, I make it a point to support the local businesses in small towns. As I went through Coleman Texas the other day, I ended up spotting the Owe Drug Store & Soda Fountain right on the main street.
After walking in, I was pleasantly surprised with how many people were in the pharmacy/restaurant. The staff was super friendly, the food was excellent (old fasioned, hand pressed hamburgers, milkshakes, etc), and the atmosphere was great. It reminds you of the old days.
I highly reccomend stopping by the Owl Drug Store and Soda Fountain next time you are passing through Coleman, Texas.
Agree with the other reviews. Â Just a great burger, expecially the "Texas Owl" special, which comes with an incredible jalapeno cheese bun.
Onion rings were awesome. Â Shakes handmade in an old drug store glass. Â Very friendly people. Â Really legit setting.
Paid $50 plus tip  for five of us, including burgers, fries, shakes, onion ring appetizer.  Great deal in my book.
One note: Â only one table big enough for more than four (six max). Â Total capacity in the grill area is probably 30-35, and not ADA friendly.
We stopped at this little place our way to SXSW yesterday and were blown away at what was inside... a business with heart.-man- Great no frills burgers and malts. Â Clean restrooms. Picked up some eye drops in the pharmacy and a gift for my daughter in the shop on the way out. I found my stop! Is easy to miss this sleepy town- must get off main thoroughfare and get to downtown. - But well worth it.
Review Source:This is a great place to stop for lunch. Â The food was great. The little grill in the drug store has 10 tables or so, each with a view of the entire grill area. Â My kids loved watching our food get made. Â The place also attempts to use Texas products including range feed Texas beef.
Review Source:If you find yourself on a road trip from Austin to Denver, make sure you stop here. This is a little old fashioned restaurant/drugstore gift shop in the charming west Texas town of Coleman. We had great burgers, home made onion rings and chocolate milkshakes. The food was great but the service & ambiance were even better. The decor is exactly what you would expect from a soda fountain in the 1940's. Almost like walking through a time machine. There are pictures on the wall of at least ten Miss Texas's. Apparently they all eat here & a few were also raised in the town. The locals are happy to entertain you with stories about how "the wife and them split sheets". I guess that's a west Texas term for getting a divorce. This is truly one of those places your not sure even still exists and also a place that is the reason people often say Texas is a friendly place. OK, one of the locals did try to sell me the last piece of cherry pie for double the price, but really this place is MAGICAL. Â Surely the friendliest little place in West Texas.
