I was delightfully surprised when I found out Paddy's is a gay bar, mainly because I wanted to see if anyone would hit on my boyfriend or buy him a drink.  Nobody did, but one guy mistook him for a cab driver named Clint.  Paddy's is a pretty large space that includes a dance floor, pool tables, and an outdoor patio, providing the perfect canvas for whimsical, adult Rainbow Brite-esque decor.  The drink I ordered wasn't anything extraordinary, but rarely do I stray from the vodka cranberry.  I would like to visit Paddy's again when it's busier because I bet you'd get to witness all sorts of drama and excitement.  Our visit included sightings of a blonde drag queen, a 4' tall Latina lesbian couple, and a handful of leering men.  When we mentioned that we enjoy the crustier bar scene, the bartender suggested a few other places to check out in the area. Unfortunately, his recommendation of Sans Souci was a let down, but he didn't seem like the type to go anywhere that might be infested with cockroaches and/or asbestos.

Adam is amaze. Gave my girl a free drink for her birthday & worked his ass off for his tip. The drinks were incredible & so worth the price. Definitely the best bartender. Thanks love!

Went here for my first time 2 years ago and had an absolute blast - danced the night away until my feet went from hurting to numb! Since then I've been back twice and have enjoyed myself both times. Went with a very mixed, eclectic group each time. The dancers were all quite entertaining, as well as the bartenders.

Stopped here to grab a drink with a friend and was surprised to find this home-y place near Downtown Ventura. We were warmly greeted by some patrons as we came in, and it seemed to be just regulars as we were there pretty early on a Sunday night. We had a seat at the bar and the bartender, Andrew, was very kind in helping us figure out what to get. We settled down, enjoyed the music, and played a round of pool. I'd definitely be back to see what it's like on a busy night. One note - cash only

I would have liked it and I would have stayed longer than a few minutes, but it turns out, Paddy's is a gay bar and it would have been difficult for me to meet the future Miss G. there. Paddy's did have nice decor, was very clean and stylish, and everyone seemed clean, stylish, and really happy to see me.

Usually pretty entertained when I go to paddys. Usually drunk too. Drinks are cheap and I like that... Alot. Spend most my time on the patio laughing at something. Or someone. Ok honey, not everyone should wear those shorts. Always use the mens room cuz the alcohol goes through me too quickly to wait in a line for the womens room but those cute boys dont care! Just don't touch the walls. Hover. Its my only suggestion. Then back to the bar for more vodka n coke. Tip yr bartender!

The best dance music and the strongest drinks. I'm a straight girl, and that's what I come here for!

Big mirrored dance floor with separate bar area upfront, with a pool table, and a smaller back bar with a lounge area in between. Big back patio to enjoy those summer nights on. Always a friendly crowd, always great service. They don't care who you want to sleep with, just come on in and drink!

Last night was the first time coming to Paddy's and it was definitely a friendly place for good times and cheap drinks :)

They have drink specials from when we got to the lounge (10:30pm ish) till 1am for $5 Tokyo ice teas, AMFs, Long Island ice teas and something else I forgot lol Very chill bartenders and had a great conversation with the one named Tim :D

Go-go dancers here are good looking and they had two different rooms for two different types of music. There's the hip hop dance floor (mostly where the ladies were hanging out) and there's the pop dance floor (mostly where the guys were hanging out). A pool table, bathroom facilities and a nicely-lit outdoor patio were between both dance floors so everywhere we went, something was always going on (for example, while I was waiting in line with a couple other girls for the bathroom, one girl got a lapdance from a random guy LOL).

Overall, saw old friends and made new friends. The place welcomes everyone from any type of sexual orientation :D

    I LOVE PADDY'S!!!
I used to go to Paddy's all the time, i have given up drinking so i dont really go downtown anymore.  Back in the day Paddy's was our place to go.  I personally wouldnt call Paddy's a "gay bar" but a bar gay's go to.  I love the drag shows they have.  Drinks are not to strong nor overpriced, its never so packed you cant move, but you'll always meet cool and interesting people.

gay...straight...bi...tranny...whatever, this is the only place in Ventura where the drinks are poured with a heavy hand and the entertainment is awesome. they have nights ranging from free pool Monday, 2-1 Tuesday, karaoke Wednesday and trivia Thursday weekends are all about the dance floor and/'or shows. everyone should stop by at least once to check it out and I guarantee you will be back again...best Tokyo Tea in all of the 805!!

We didnt know what to expect but wanted to get our drink on without the usual meatmarket vibe. Irony. My poor friend almost broke up a feuding (and tipsy) couple without doing anything but sit on a bar stool! complete with one crying, it was a newbies nightmare but we weathered that storm and Paddys ended up fun, hip, low key. We laughed, chilled, cheers, the bartender was a sweetheart. My only suggestion, if you are straight and/or vanilla, take shots lol

this is my favorite gay bar north of west hollywood! errm, or is it west?

cheap drinks, awesome dancefloor, okay DJ {but he takes requests so you can direct your dance how you please!} expect a LOT LOT LOT of lady gaga, britney & rihanna. hello it's a GAY BAR.

i live to dance/dance to live and Paddy's has the BEST dance floor! great lights with good overall dimness, the front of a classic car coming out of the ceiling/wall, funky paints and 3 panels of mirrors. may the dancing commence!

one night we got lucky and there was a drag queen karaoke contest going on. now that is entertainment! i don't live up in Ventura county any more but when i did, Paddy's friday night dance off was it!!!!

i miss you Paddy ole pal, i miss you very much.

Okay so, when I saw the white faded stucco-ish exterior of this place and its blacked-out windows, I assumed that it would be the divey-est dive ever. That, and I was a chick heading to a gay bar, which can sometimes be awkward. Paddy's totally proved me wrong on both counts.

The door guys/bouncers were really sweet and let me in right away. I was wearing my VC Derby Darlins shirt, so maybe that got me some cred, but it was so nice. Ordered myself a Jack & Coke (it tasted PERFECT) and sat down to check out the scene. It's deceptively huge! The place was fabulously decorated since Halloween was coming up. The music was very 80s, but in a charming way, not obnoxious. It was kinda nice to be surrounded by hot men and know that none of them were being friendly to get into my pants. Definitely rare in any SoCal bar.

There was kind of this weird segregation going on, with all of the guys sitting on one side of the building and the women (many of them lesbians with butchy hair, wearing flannel, but some of them straight) dancing in the "club" room on the other side, but...it's a gay bar. The only one in three counties, at that. Let them have their space. The "club" area had its own bartender, which was a very nice touch, and a little curtain-draped stage where I think they sometimes have live music.

If you're gay, bi, or straight but supportive of LGBT people, support this place. It's not Hollywood, but it's pretty damn good, and it's all we've got.

Having lived in San Diego my whole life, where the gay scene is huge...this was like culture shock!  Only one gay bar in the whole Ventura/Oxnard/Port Hueneme area...WOW!  There's no place like home, there's no place like home...ok, enough of that.  This bar is perfect for the local's and you can really tell when an "outsider" comes in.  No fuss, no muss type bar with a couple of dance floors with different music on each...and very strong drinks!  Nice hometown feel to the place.

This is one of the most hip places to mingle!  It's ultra-fabulous atmosphere consists of a wonderful dance floor and sometimes some male dancers dancing up on stage.  I love the freedom to just 'be' when we go there.  There are pool tables and a cool Shangri La patio for hanging out with friends.  It's a fun place to party!  =0)

One complaint (and there is no real fault on the establishment, but rather some of the people who go there)---we were out on the dance floor dancing and I set my purse down for a brief moment and it was straight-up snagged!  The cool part was the owner called me the next day because they recovered my camera, cell phone and car keys!  I was stoked!  So, be warned----don't leave things lying around.

Nestled in a nifty little nook around the corner from the Patagonia store, Paddy's beckons with ultra-fabulous gayness, y'all. Having lived and loved in Hillcrest, San Diego, I was disappointed to hear claims of Ventura's uber straightness. Not so, my darling! Paddy's is here--get used to it! We often stop by there in the afternoon, when there's usually a couple of regulars getting friendly with the handsome bartender. Everyone's cool to us breeders. The other day, I flirted with the cutest chihuahua-doxie. The interior's dark and spacious, and features factory brick walls and a huge picture of a shirtless man who may have stepped straight (or gay) out of an Abercrombie & Fitch catalog. Seize it, babies!

It got the job done. Strong drinks. Friendly staff. Lots of parking.

Not a big fan of the $3 cover on the weekends but I suppose it may be the only way this place can stay afloat.

This place reminded me of a lot of small town gay bars but the crowd is unique in and of itself.

    Overall, a decent place.

Paddy's does a lot of things right.  They have friendly staff, a safety conscious security team, a fantastic patio, and a sizable indoor bar and dance floor. The beach air is always a wonderful part of being at Paddy's. Unfortunately though the bar is located in Ventura County and has been infested with suburbanite small town gays.

My loathing of suburbanites has a long personal history going back to my own childhood and teenage years in Thousand Oaks.   Once you add in the mandatory attitude and gossipy nature of the small town gay you've got a recipe for banality.  Oh, and then on top of it, forced to deal with the faux-virgin-complex of the average small-town-gay and you'll soon realize you should have just driven to LA it would've wasted less of your time.

5-stars for the bar, subtract 2-stars for the clientele.  It washes out to 3-stars.

Paddy's is a pretty good scene for Ventura.  It does not compare with clubs in bigger cities... however they provide a good environment, decent drinks, and an overall fun atmosphere.

If you're going to hold this next to West Hollywood you might sneer at it, but this is a true dive & that's its charm.  Big outside garden patio.  cheap drinks.  some of the only good dancing downtown.  and also the only gay bar in 3 counties so maybe we take what we can get.

Good afternoon happy hour, stiff drinks and coldest bottled beer in town.
One of the larger bars in Ventura and (in my opinion) the best one in downtown Ventura.
They have pool and darts, a large patio and plenty of parking.  Turns into more of a dance club after dark (mostly Fri and Sat)  Karaoke evenings on Wed and Sun.
There is another separate lounge with its own bar that opens also on weekends with some really nice decor
Yes it is a gay bar, but it large enough and welcome to all with a very mixed crowd.
Note that the primary entrance is off the parking lot behind the building with access from Main and Garden
There is an ATM but they dont take credit cards

This ain't no West Hollywood dance club. But its all we got in ventura, so it's pretty nice. The patio is super cute and just looks great. Inside there are two bars one to the right which is only opens on weekends and the left is the main bar which has a decent dance floor behind it. Drinks are typically gay semi strong drinks. But they taste great and there bartenders are very nice. It doesn't get really busy because its ventura. Take as many friends as you can because it only makes it better. Oh yea there is a LAME $3 cover on the Saturday not sure if they also is same for Friday and Sunday.

Paddy's is always a lot of fun. Perfect drinks, never TOO strong, but not a bit on the weak side either. I love the outdoor patio set up. Not diggin the cover charge on weekend nights, even if it is only a few dollars. It's Paddy's for damn sake :)

Warm, friendly and usually good music at the neighborhood bar.  I often get drawn in the the latin section of the bar by gentlemen looking to dance.  Good place to relax and socialize.....not too cruizy.

The last standing gay bar in Ventura (one of originally two). I didnt mind stopping by Paddy's every once in a while mainly because its a cool bar and a duck-out from Ventura's flame-tattoo and goatee wearing douche bags. Old exposed brick make up the entire inside and out of the lounge, which at one time was a coffee shop (and you can tell). The place is spacious and sectiony, with a room designated strictly to booty shaking (careful now). There's a number of pool tables available at a low cost. The back patio is large and is definitely my first choice for enjoying some drinks.

Many of my friends wouldn't step foot in Paddy's, even to save their own mother's dear life. I say man up. It's just a place to drink.
