I absolutely love Paddys. I have a wife and kids now and am beyond the point in my life where a weekend means drunken bar hopping. So once every month or two I chose to forgo the backyard fire and beers and go out, Paddys is always first on the list. Owners are awesome. Bartenders are cream of the crop. Atmosphere is a perfect mix of hole in the wall and just clean and lit well enough to make you feel safe without feeling like your in some commercialized crap bar. This is not somewhere to take a prissy girl on the first date. The tacky floor and smoke clouds at the door will invoke comments that will only lead things down hill. Great place for you and your friends to have a few stouts and have a loud fun time.
Review Source:I used to party in Washington, D.C. Â Which has an amazing night life. When I came here, I sampled a few bars and "clubs" and was extremely disappointed with them. Â I thought that my nightlife had ended when I left VA....until I went to Paddy's. Â
Paddy's is definitely a good time...great atmosphere, live music, great bartenders!! The bartenders definitely add to this place's charm, friendly, quick, and pretty easy on the eyes for guys and girls. Â I definitely recommend going to Paddy's any night of the week, especially when Paddy and Bill are playing. Â
Paddy is hilariously raunchy and both Paddy and Bill are incredibly talented musicians. Â Paddy plays the guitar and Bill plays the classic violin. Â They sing everything from Coldplay to Dropkick Murphys to The Cranberry's. Â They are both very supportive of our troops and they make it known. Â
I recommend this bar to anyone and everyone. Â You will not be disappointed!
A good bar or pub is made or broken by the people who are there. Â That goes for just about any type of business though. Â Immediately, you'll notice the personality of this bar. Â The sign at the front says, "No Wankers", which is also displayed on the shirts of some of the employees. Â Inside, above the cash register, a sign lists all of the people who have outstanding tabs. Â
This place requires a membership, which is why you have to sign in at the entrance. Â It's a North Carolina law that says you either have to sell 30% food sales or become a private club. Â Will all private clubs/bars, you'll have to fill out an application and wait 3 days. Â This place lets you sign in unlimited number of guests, but you might as well register everyone in the group so you can avoid paying their extra fees for non-members.
They have live music, and do auditons for new bands on Wednesdays/Thursdays. Â There are lots of tables for small groups, some bar seating, a couple of couches at the front, and a pool table. Â Inside the restroom, there are painted poems or clever sayings that I can't remember now. Â Next door is a bar called Bourbon Street, with a Mardi Gras theme and a dance floor and more pool tables.
How ironic that their tagline below their name Paddy's is "An Irish Public House", but it's another one of those private membership bars/pubs.
