Stopped downtown for lunch. Â A very Slooooow lunch, with a watered down ceasar salad with cold grilled chicken and a caprese salad made with tomatoes made from cement! Â The owner was rude and said they only had one person in the kitchen. Â Should be better prepared! Â Won't make that mistake again!
Review Source:The Palm Tree Grille is a conveniently located and decently priced restaurant for the weekend Mount Dora stroller. Â The first time I went here, I was pleasantly surprised by the attentive waitstaff and the flavorful food. Â Baked Zitti is pretty standard and Palm Tree Grill's version was nothing to write home about. Â The sauce was tangy and sweet, the pasta was cooked well but the cheese. Oh the cheese! Â It was just a clump of half melted cheese on top of the ziti. Â The ravioli with sun dried tomatoes and marsala sauce was delicious. Â I opted for no meat so I can't write on the actual menu item. Â The marsala sauce was rich and complimented the sun dried tomatoes. Â The complimentary garlic rolls come out with one's meal and were pretty good--a bit dry. Â I wish they had come out with the salad. Â Overall, it's a decent restaurant in an adorable city.
First complaint: Â They don't serve their full menu during lunch but it's not indicated on the menu. Â
Second complaint: Â The biggest disappointment and one worthy of complaint is that they serve soda in A CAN! Â I just don't understand. Â I was so bothered by this that I decided to look up licensing agreements between restaurants and soda companies. Â From my research, it's much more prudent to invest in a fountain machine. Â The owners get profit and free items from their distributor. Â Cans are more expensive and yield more waste...and canned soda just doesn't taste nearly as good as fountain soda!
My friend and I went here after we found out the french cafe in town we wanted to go to was closed during dinner hours during the week. And we can't say we were let down here either. The food was good, though nothing spectacular to write home about. But what lacked in food was made up for in service.
