Just to rehash.....this place freakin rules!!! Â If you're in the area and a BBQ fanatic like myself it should be considered sacrilegious not to stop at Papa Bucks.
Pulled Pork BBQ is moist, smokey and just the way BBQ should be. Â Their tableside sauce is tomato based like God intended it to be and compliments the pork just right. Â I have had their brisket before and it is also smokey, and moist. Â
For sides, the Brunswick Stew is to die for. Â It is chock full of stuff and the stew has a slight sweetness that makes it akin to the nectar of the Gods!
Service is spot on every time and the waitresses bring that extra bit of southern charm to the table, literally. Â Oh, by the way the food arrives pretty quickly after you order it so please skip the McD's and try a little slice of BBQ heaven.
Got a brisket and rib combo with potato salad, fried corn and a slice of chocolate cake. Â Ribs were completely untrimmed, not even trimming the flap on the back. Â This does give you more meat, but it didn't help the cooking, as the thickness of the ribs vary greatly from one end of the rib to the other. Â Some of each rib (you get two in a combo) was pretty good with large sections that were not cooked enough and tough. Â Flavor was fine. Â Brisket was overcooked and a little dry, but ok flavor. Â
Potato salad was heavy on the sour cream, but not bad. Â Tasted more like a baked potato made with a waxy potato than potato salad. Â Didn't care for the fried corn. Â Cake was delicious and reminded me of the kind you get at grandmas' houses and little meat and three places across the south.
Pet peeve: please don't put so much ice in the cup that I can't get my straw to the bottom of the cup.
Ok BBQ, but not so good that I'll not try their competitor across the street the next time I'm in town.
PS the staff t-shirts have the slogan "hot butts, big racks, smokin' chicks" or something like that on the back with a cartoon of a leering pig. Â Left a bad impression
