This place is a great hole in wall.  We stopped here for a quick breakfast and IT WAS quick..the pancakes are HUGE and the best I ever had.

Was doing an epic coastal road trip and this place was recommended by one of the locals.  Breakfast was definitely something to write about!

I had the paradise omelet - mmmm.  The onions and peppers were perfectly cooked not half raw like in many places and there was green chili in it!!!  I haven't seen much green chili since moving out of NM, and that was a sight for sore eyes. The cheese was perfectly melted, and the portion was huge.  It came with a side of perfectly crisped, but not overdone hash browns.  As a plus they stocked green tobasco (my fave) on each table as a matter of course, and I did not have to tackle the wait staff for hot sauce as I do at many places.

My companion had the blueberry pancake with a side of bacon.  The blueberries were cooked into the pancake and were excellent quality.  The pancake itself was large, cooked expertly (not doughy, not dry) and I was assured that it was excellent, but somehow my mouth was too full of omelet goodness to try any.  I did manage to snag a bite of bacon and that was also well-executed.  Again, not under or overdone, perfect thickness and not too fatty.  Some of the best bacon on the trip.

Well done!  If I ever find myself back near Port Orford I will make it a point to eat here again. :)

Nice hot water to wash up in the restroom. Coffee definately on the weak side and they don't give you real cream for the coffee. Open-faced hot turkey sandwich was salty but average. They use sliced turkey for sandwiches instead of thick cut turkey breast.  Mashed potatoes were instant. We were interrupted no less than 3 times by the young busboy who wanted to refilled the sugar, refilled the jelly packets and try to take our nondairy creamer even though we were obviously drinking coffee. Still this place seems to be popular with the locals. The portions are large and the prices are reasonable. If you like mediocre food, atmosphere and service then got for it!

Stopped there for breakfast this morning with three little kids.  Pancakes were enormous and the service and ambiance was perfect.

Great prices, excellent food. When you're on a road trip, you want to try not to stop at the touristy places, since they tend to at best be expensive, and at worst taste crappy. When we stopped here, every other customer appeared to be a high school student on lunch break. It's always a good sign when some place on a thoroughfare like US-101 is full of locals.

Our order took almost 20 minutes to go through, but the place was probably getting ready to close. Whoever the line cook was, we gave extra tip for him/her. I have resigned myself to mediocre to average diner fare when in Washington and Oregon, as I come from Southern States, but I would stack this food against any Southern diner. (Yeah, this means nothing to you people in California, but for those who know, you will truly be enlightened.)

In conclusion, if you feel driven to see Oregon the old-fashioned way, why not eat some fantastic food in Port Orford?

Best for locals only, as grill cooks have no system!  Locals love the "Cheers" atmosphere but tourists come last.

OK service, amazing pancakes! GIGANTIC! With very fresh blueberries. Sometimes they are even bigger than the ten inch plate!

Picture a roadside diner, sort of like Mel's Diner in the TV show, "Alice." That's Paradise Cafe and it's the best bang for your buck in the small coastal town of Port Orford.

My wife and I stopped for breakfast. She ordered a Denver omelette and I ordered corned beef hash.

Both plates came with two eggs, hash browns, and your choice of bread.

The portions are quite large and we both ended up with food coming home. It was all very tasty and the prices are quite fair.

The food came quickly but the wait service could be better.

    To be perfectly fair:

The diner was half full and our poor waitress was running her tail off. She tried her best to keep up with all the customers. They really need to hire a second wait person, if they don't have one already. Maybe they were running late or out sick.

Anyway, she could have used an extra set of hands.

This is definitely a place I would recommend if you happen through Port Orford, OR. on the lovely southern Oregon coast.

Loved it! Everything you want a roadside cafe to be when you want some trucker style breakfast late morning as you drive the 101.

Late post - ate here on 7/28/10.

Very generous portions! I ordered the small biscuits and gravy and the biscuit was the size of a saucer!  Nicely spiced too. My husband opted for lunch and had the BLT. Big sandwich and a big side of the best tater tots ever.

The service was great too!!  We visit the area every year so we'll be back!

After frozen breaded shrimp? Stop here. fries that started the day in a plastic bag? Stop here.

Friendly wait staff, great old Black and White pictures of Port Orford, best in town. Just normal cafe fair though.

Great onion rings! We're from the L.A. area and were just passing through Port Orford on our road trip north to Portland. Looked like just a spot on the map, but what a surprise we got. I had a turkey sandwich which was fresh and delicious, my wife had a veggie something that was terrific, and the kids had nice burgers. The macaroni salad with my sandwich had olives in it and was mildly sweet. Perfect. But the onion rings were amazing. Not the kind which you bite and the whole onion pulls out from inside. No, the crisp kind, onion in every bite, not oily, just bliss. What is this place doing in Port Orford? we thought. Definitely the place for a great lunch. Full of locals at midday on a Thursday too. A good sign.

Stopped in at 1PM. They were offering both a breakfast and lunch special. Ended up with a Patty melt and French Dip. Both were excellent, particularly when we asked for onion rings as a side and the portions were huge. This is definitely a place to stop when passing through.

    The oatmeal-raisin cookies were delicious.

Small local family-run place. Big servings! Ordered the hot cake, it was so big it was flopping over the plate. Great maple syrup.
Definitely recommend this place to stop on your road trip for a filling good breakfast. Can't stop thinking about the giant hotcake mmmm.

Their portions are huge! I had toast. There was a good-sized rye portion and very tasty, too. I spied the pancakes, which were enormous. Maybe next time.... The interior has a nice, comfy feel to it.

On my first visit, I stopped in for breakfast.  They open at 6, which shows they mean business about providing an essential service for early risers in the area.  Port & Starboard down the street advertises a 6 a.m. opening but they don't actually open until 7 and that is negotiable depending on what kind of night the staff had.

My breakfast at the Paradise Cafe was a nice meal. I received fine service from a young waitress who looked something like the actress Winona Ryder.  It was almost too much to take so early in the morning.

On the second visit I had a bowl of homemade chili.  It's very unusual to get homemade chili.  It was good.  Crazy Norwegian's has chili too, but I didn't try it since I was fixated on the fish & chips.

The waitress was indifferent and unprofessional.  I had to nag her to get crackers with my chili and of course, no refill was offered for my water. When she brought the crackers, she acted as if I'd asked for a foot massage. I overheard her tell a customer that she had been working long hours and needed a break. It's a shame to see a business that obviously tries hard undermined by an employee who couldn't care less.
