I live in San Francisco and went there on a Saturday night. Â It was a good mixed crowd - Lesbians, gays, heteros, older, younger, and diverse ethnic groups. Â It would be unfair for me to compare this bar to San Francisco; however, it was a happy festive environment. Â It is the local gay bar where people go for fun. Â Drinks were cheap. Â
The place is very spacious - It is a fun place to spend with friends. Â I recommend it anyone.
Went there on a random night and I was pretty impressed. Being it was a gay club it was really fun! the crowd was friendly and all knew how to have a good time. Thats the kind of people I love to party with. They have two stripper poles in there as well adds extra fun. But overall a nice spot, I need to go more often.
Review Source:Not sure what this place is like on a Fri or Sat night but I went on a Sun evening and it was very tame. Located in a strip mall in the Northernmost part of Stockton, it's very unassuming on the outside but nice on the inside. I was surprised how spacious it is with the bar anchoring the middle, pool tables, tv's all around and plenty of seating.
My friend and I went to hang out a bit with his longtime friend and it was really cool. Heck I even had a drink to get the juices flowing (Vodka with a cran/orange juice splash). I'd like to check this place out when it's a little more lively to see what the energy is all about. I'm very grateful the place is located in a very nice area of Stockton, yes folks there is a nice area of Stockton!
I'll be back for sure!
Love Paradise. Love Terri and Timmy the wonderful bartenders!!! Â I find it cool that they recently installed stripper poles on the dance floor for some added fun. I also enjoy coming in on Sundays and Mondays for beer pong. Oh and by the way everyone there's only a cover charge on Fridays and Saturdays just fyi. There is always some special promotion going on for drinks and the special events are always fun - like the wet t-shirt contest, and this weekend there will be a Halloween party (it's on the 29th I believe). It's always nice to come here and relax, and have some Pinnacle WHIPPED!!!!
Review Source:I absolutely love this place like no other. People here aren't douche bags and cunt bags like all the other overrated bars like Finns and 856. I especially love how the bartenders try to get to know you personally. Usually when I go to Finns or 856, everyone is trying to compete against one another for some odd reason. Like damn, it's a fucking club, just drink and have fun. There's never a need for drama at the club. This place doesn't discriminate or stare you down and make you feel uncomfy. I lalala love:)
Review Source:This is not a club, its more of a bar. The dance floor is tiny and I have only been a few times but I have never seen the dance floor full. Sure the bartenders are generous on drinks but for the prices they better be. I would rather drink a full bottle at home and dance alone then be surrounded by drunk couples or sweaty women dancing in hoodies.
Review Source:As gay bars go this place is not fantastic, and its most certainly not a "club"... but given its area (Stockton) its actually pretty fantastic. All the bartenders I have encountered on my visits up north have been excellent. Every time I have been in there has been a drink special (my personal favorite being 2 for 1 long islands). There hasn't been a cover charge like I am reading in other reviews but I am guessing they may only charge on the weekends. Music is decent, its not mixed or anything. Crowd is what you would expect in Stockton. The area is not great, although I have noticed they upgraded the outside and lighting. My friends car was broken in to once while we were visiting. All in all I do have a good time coming and enjoy the drinks and company! For being in stokton: 5 Stars, if it were in SF or LA: 3 Stars.
Review Source:Cover is $5. The drinks and bartenders are friendly and cute. The music on the other hand is the worst mish-mosh-thrown-together-by-my-little-brother-Âmess you will ever hear! Â Its so bad it will make you cringe. I could have taken my $5 gone to a straight bar and dropped it into a jukebox and heard better music.
On the upside, the lesbian cat fight in the parking lot was fun to watch as we left. :)
Coming from a background of gay bars & nightclubs from San Jose & San Francisco, I have to say that Paradise Club could be SO much better.
The location is in the middle of no where. It feels as if its in an area where someone can be murdered and buried and be forgotten.
The layout of the venue is ok. There's an area for those who wishes to play pool can. The bar is located in the middle of the venue and can be served 360 degrees. The dance floor is just a step up and a decent size and the light made it lovely.
The biggest blow I have to say that made Paradise Club unsuccessful is the DJ. The DJ booth is located facing away from the dance floor in result, the DJ doesn't know whether their doing great or horrible if they were to take notice people dancing. The windows of the DJ booth are 3 feet wide and 11/2 feet tall and is located 8-9 feet above the floor so if someone might height want to take a look at the DJ... it was impossible. The music they played was awesome... 2 years go! The music was out dated and it felt as if the clientele was too.
My friend and I got there at 11PM and left before 1AM. I say the full capacity is probably 300 people and probably 80 showed up. It was quite slow.
The clientele ranges from 28-35 of age. It was more of a bar scene then a nightclub.
I ordered a vodka & redbull and it had a weird after taste as if it was old or just simply wasn't vodka that they put in there. It took me 1 hour to finish drinking it. Thank goodness it was cheap. While I force myself to finish that drink I was trying to keep myself awake by watching my friend down 3 redbulls in one sitting.
We gave the venue and DJ time to play a decent song so we could at least dance to one song. Finally, my friend's favorite song came up after we were about to leave and we decided to go out on the dance floor and dance it out. I was sleepy and bloated from the salty food i ate earlier and my friend's heart was beating so fast that he couldn't dance. We gave it all as much as we could and decided to call it a night.
I guess my friend and I were hoping that it was more of a Club scene than a bar scene so we were disappointed.
I would not recommend any of my friends to Paradise Club.
Once again 5 stars!!
Things are looking up! I guess my $5 bucks to get in has been paying off.
Better dance floor, male dancers, and new bathrooms!
You can catch me on the dance floor getting freaky ALL night :)
Dance and Top 40 Hip-Hop seem to be main music played. Unless my DJ is playing then it's going to be House Nation! lol
If you want to have a GREAT time after a long week then come here. Bring your friends and have a blast. If your looking for that SF city vibe... this is not the place folks! Alot of straight folks tend to come here too...I guess it's ok...
Ins & Outs, Pool Tables, Bar, Video games, and spacious dance floor :)
Now I'm just waiting for the TV screens!!
Best gay bar in the 209 (Yes, there are more). Cheap drinks, diva music, and, best of all, and open and inclusive management & clientle. Truly a welcoming place for folks who welcome all. Nice multicultural crowed, too (Many flavors to taste, eh?). {;o)
The restrooms are ew and loud verbal exchanges happen occasionally so this is no way a  "Sex in the City" atmosphere, but who cares about that. Just come and make friends!
Ok let me just say this is the best place ever!. Granted you can get sucked into the lesbian drama but thats irrelevant. its everywhere. This place has awesome drinks (Thanks Terri) as far as my friend Abraham is concerned Timmy is hot. So eye candy, score yet again.
The dance floor is pretty big so there is no out of control flammer who is gyrating and breaking a hip or a overdressed girl with a purse to fill clothes for a bitch bag night going to hit you.
The music is great, Im not to big of a fan of Selena but hey to watch the gay boys work it is entertainment enough. You cant beat $5 charge so stop complaining. The bathrooms are a little on the ew side but hey its a bar its not the Hilton. All in all my best memories and Friday nights belong here. What can I say Im a Parasite bar fly
Although my friends and I went on a Monday night, we still had a lot of fun. Â The drinks compared to other bars I've been to are such a steal! Â $4 for a Vodka Cranberry is always good in my book - especially when it's as strong as the ones I normally pay $6-8 for :)
That Monday night, Coronas and Kamikazes are only $2! Â They don't skimp on the kamikazes either.
We'll have to come back sometime between Thurs-Sat to see how it is when things are actually happening :)
I'm a patron of the gay bars in Modesto and have been trying to make it up to Stockton to check out the Paradise for quite some time. We finally got there this past weekend and we're VERY impressed! Nice spacious floor plan with large dance floor, great music, cute bartenders, and a nice diverse clientelle. The cute guy selling the jello shots was awfully sweet. We'll be back for sure!
Review Source:I happen to enjoy this little place know as Paradise (though I've heard it referred to as Parasite before.) Hey, if you have a problem with it, then don't come, ya know?
I've gone here a few times while visiting family, and always enjoy myself. The bartender (Gawd, what is his name? Tim maybe?) is such a sweetheart, and always nice. I do have to say that, compared to San Francisco, this place has a HUGE dance floor and I never feel like I am being crowded while dancing. And no annoying girls with their duffel bag sized purses trying to kill someone. Score one there!
The sound system is a little off, so the music doesn't always sound that great, and the bathrooms are a bit dirty. But otherwise, a great place to hang out and enjoy a night with friends while perhaps making new ones. :)
As the only Gay Bar in the County, you don't really have a choice if you can't travel too far... i.e. Sacramento or Modesto, but that doesn't mean it's a bad place to go: ) The bartenders are friendly as are the majority of the regulars. Tuesday nights are popular for Karaoke Night and people clap whether you're good or not. There are other theme nights, but I haven't been. Fridays & Saturdays are the busy nights, and surprisingly mixed as far as men, women, and gay/straight. Fridays & Saturdays also have a live DJ, the rest of the week is canned music.
