  In Dufur, it's about the best place to eat.   They have the usual bar/pub/grill type food.  They do a good job given the small town.
  
  Cliffy is the owner and will go out of his way to make you comfortable and happy with your food.  We don't get to Dufur very often, once a year for the Oregon Trail Rally.  Lots of fun. Always stop in for breakfast or a beer after the rally in the evening.

  We walked in and had a drink, and overall the place is pretty great. It felt like a fun, small town bar. I spied a sign of the wall, KARAOKE FRIDAY!
  
  I said 'hey gang, it's Karo eke tonight, lets come back". The bartender corrected me, saying it's actually two weeks from today.
  
  Because this is a small town bar. Oh well, Still fun.

  Dufur, Oregon - Population 400 (depending on the day)
  
  I asked my gracious host for a recommendation on getting something to eat.  There was the deli, which was closed, and "the restaurant" -- the only one in town.  It was in walking distance, so, "the restaurant" it is.
  
  When I walked in, it was like the typical scene from movies where the out of towner walks in, the music comes to a screeching halt, and everyone puts down their drinks and stares.  Clearly, this New Yorker was a little out of place.
  
  After I settled into the bar and had an excellent Oregon beer (Deschutes Moon River), I ordered an open face turkey sandwich, and chatted with some of the locals - I had a great time.  I heard about the history of the area, got a tour of the local taxidermy (all over the bar's walls), and heard about the local snowmobiling scene on Mt. Hood (which I didn't even realize was so closeby..)
  
  Anyway, I don't imagine that Dufur is really on anybody's tourism map, but if so, this will be your only place to hang out.  But that's not a bad thing.
