A party of four - The day I visited this place was a cold winter day. It was cold inside and I commented to the wait staff that it was cold inside. The cafe is situated in a very large space with a 18-foot ceiling. The kitchen is situated in the center of the space. Seating is front of the kitchen. There is one huge open space in what appears to be a old warehouse.
When the front door is opened the wind blows freely through the table area. I went to the cashier and complained about the cold. The cashier responded with disdain on her face and bluntly stated she had not had any other complains.
The waiter brought flatware and knapkins, piled all together on the table with menus and walked away without a welcome.
We left without ordering.
If you want Southern cooking this is the place.  It's basically a warehouse where grease is consumed.  Got the chicken fried steak with tonza gravy.  Left  happy and full.  It was only 5 bucks too!  Voted one of the best cafes in Texas.  Worth a day trip to check out.  It's not fine dining but it sure is tasty.
Review Source:Being a vegetarian, I was a little worried about what I choices I would have in Goldthwaite. Â But Peabody's has something for everyone. Â There is home cooking (i.e. chicken fried steak), mexican food, burgers, etc. on the menu. Â I had chips and salsa and breakfast tacos (eggs, cheese, and jalapenos) for lunch. Â It was all simple and great. Â I also had a piece of coconut cream pie. Â It was absolutely wonderful.
