You can bet there were Katy Perry jokes abound.
The bar oozes charm when you aren't mesmerized by the large, stained glass peacock. It's just as you would expect from a classy, old-timey hotel.
The bar staff is older, and the menu reads like an encyclopedia of standard drinks. There didn't seem to be a bottle of liquor in their large bar that wouldn't accommodate what you were trying to drink.
We stopped in for after dinner drinks and dessert, and the clientele was super mixed and didn't fit the aesthetic all that well. As such, especially because it was later in the evening, the staff was apathetic. It felt as if they were counting down until closing time. I can't say as I blame them.
My Irish coffee was super strong, and they'd recently brewed the coffee.
It wouldn't be my first choice on another trip back to Spokane, but it's worth seeing the peacock at least once.
The Peacock Room is pretty cool. The food is pretty good. All in all, its pretty ok. They do make good drinks, and they pour doubles. However, the price reflects it. So, it is one of the better places in Spokane, but not the kind of place you go to and write home about. You will not be disappointed, nor will you be blown away.
Oh, they are also open as late as there is business, so they may close earlier than you'd expect for one of the nightlife spots of Spokane.
I do like all the stuffed peacocks.
A very classic room for the town, with great martinis, interesting atmosphere, and historic charm. The stained glass ceiling is a trip. Â I happened upon a cattle and rice farmer that sold all his product to Japan and Egypt. Â Distribution is a surly beast. Â I couldn't imagine why I wouldn't go back.... friendly atmosphere with boozy charm.
I didn't try the food. Â I did have an Onion in the Gibson though.
If you're in town from Omaha, you'll surely think the Peacock swank and special; if you're a jaded Portlandite dressed in neutral, you may be overwhelmed by the cacophony of colors and feathers and bird carcasses at every corner.
So sit down; sit at the bar; take nearly ten minutes to acclimate to your surroundings as your blank-faced bartender busies herself before you, completely oblivious to your existence. Snag a menu from a table behind you; snigger at the descriptions of Huckleberry Humpertinis and Vanilla Venaltinis; make up your mind long before you're finally greeted with a gruff "It's last call. Whaddya want?"
What you want is an adequate libation at the clearly unreasonable hour of 11p; what you get is a martini glass of pink Kool-Aid with no discernible  alcohol. Or, if you refuse to order from the pages of cutesy 'drops and 'tinis they claim to be good at, you can have what my boyfriend pronounced the worst martini in the world.
This is a place for bachelor/ette parties, for high school reunion after-parties, for large women in bright polyester minidresses and balding men in ill-fitting dress pants. In short, it could be a perfect place for people-watching if only they'd make you a decent drink, and address you with even a drop of perfunctory politeness.
Very much enjoyed an evening at the Peacock Room. Â We kinda went all out, just felt like it. Â Drinks, hummus, salads, wine, salmon and mahi mahi dinners, and a shared dessert. Â All was prepared very well and was very good. Â Good portion sizes. Â Our server, Brianna (name on receipt), was just awesome! Â Let me say this clearly, No Hovering! Â There when we wanted her there and responsive to what we asked for. Â You know what I mean.
Very nice evening out for my wife and me.
Decor is fabulous. Â Love the peacock stained glass ceiling. Â Service is professional, attentive and smooth. Â Music is awful --- bad elevator versions of songs you might recognize. Â Food so-so. Â Crab cakes tasted mass produced. Â Costco? Â Davenport salad was good. Â Lemon drop great. Â Manhattan so-so. Â Crowd is strange. Â Gray haired jeans crowd, young tattoos and young female professionals.
Review Source:The crown jewel in the midst of the ostentatious interpretation of "The Jungle Book" that is Spokane's Davenport Hotel.
A surreal spot full of 30 year high-school reunion attendees, newlyweds, jacketed old men, barflys, smalltown hustlas, confused traveling salesmen and swindlers. Â
The haute couture meet the hoi polloi. Â
And everything is covered in feathers. Â
One of the most interesting experiences in eastern Washington. Â People DRESS UP to come here. Â They take pictures of themselves in front of the bird-feather-themed-stained-glass. Â They order fancy sounding things and watch to see who comes in.
This strange little bar is the cultural center of town. Â In more ways than one.
There is a beautiful backlit stained glass window that greets you when you come in from the hotel entrance. Â There are also stuffed peacocks at the top of the bar. Â
Classic, classy place where you can get some drinks with your friends and your service will be as attentive or discreet as you want. Â Expected it to be mostly an older crowd but saw a lot of diversity of ages.
I visited during the summer and loved their summer specialty drinks, including their "summer julep," a twist on the old favorite.
When I got my tab I was given a strangers debit card back. I approached the waitress and explained.. She got my tab and rather than apologizing the only reply I got from her was a bitchy, sarcastic "You are welcome!" It was my friends bday and it really put a damper on the night to be treated so poorly. :(
Review Source:Very cool bar to kick back in if you stay at the Davenport. Â The food is just okay. Â My boss ordered onion soup that came out cold. Â I ordered grilled cheese and tomato soup which was good, not bad, but not amazing either. Â Drinks were good and the staff was friendly and efficient.
Review Source:We were looking for late night food on a Sunday night and ended up here. The grilled cheese sandwich and tomato bisque soup is good; they use baguette bread for the sandwich. Others in my party ordered the French onion soup which looked awesome- big bowl and cheesy on top. Another person ordered the Cesar salad which was drowned in dressing and she had to send it back. Service was great though and the waiter comped a dessert. We shared the lava cake which was a yummy, chocolatey-goey in the center with fresh raspberries on top. Overall, a great late night option with great service.
Review Source:The drinks are $10 but they are worth it. Â Each one is like a festival in a glass. Â The peacocks (on the wall, in the ceiling, and as taxidermy) were a bit overwhelming but you hardly notice since the drinks are so good. Â The crowd was pretty diverse, tourists, frat boys, guys and gals on a date, us (girls night out) etc. Â Next time I'll come and try the food. Â I would definitely come back, heck might even become a regular.
Review Source:3 stars is for the bar, cocktails and bartender. Â If I was just rating the food it would be a one or two at best. Â I had the rueben sandwich last night while sitting at the bar. Â Granted it was late in the evening but the meat in the sandwich was the toughest corned beef I think I have ever experienced. Â I actually could not even bite through the meat. Â I tried to tear it off with my teeth with no luck. Â The only way I could actually eat the sandwich was to cut into very little with a very sharp steak knife. Â I got through about 30% of the sandwich and had to stop becuase my jaw was sore from trying to chew this piece of "leather". Â
Room is pretty with ornate ceiling but dont go for the food.
Not only is the Peacock Room a good place for a martini! Come to find out it is also a good place for lunch or a bite to eat. I decided to try it out for lunch because it is a little pricey and prices are lower at lunch time.  They had a couple of sandwiches I was interested in trying that are only on the lunch menu. I had the Crab Sandwich which is a crab salad on an English muffin, topped with a tomato slices and Gruyere cheese. Delicious! I also tried some of my friends turkey sandwich which had roasted turkey topped with balsamic glazed onions and pesto sauce. Equally as delicious! Both were served with side salad with a delicious balsamic vinaigrette and  bread with herb butter for spreading.  The servers and bartenders at the Peacock Room are also fast and friendly. I really feel like I am being pampered every time I am in this hotel.
Review Source:I decided to give this a place a shot a week or so ago at the behest of some of the reviews on this site. Overall I was pleased but that was mostly because of their choices in single malt scotches, my drink of choice as of late.
Their appetizer menu wasn't very extensive but the calamari wasn't too bad to snack on while I sipped Glenlivet 12 year. They seemed to have a good stock on hand as far as alcohol goes and could probably make anything the average person would want. They assumed I wanted my scotch neat which was nice and the waitress seemed to know a good deal about what she was serving, both food and drink.
Seems like a great low key place to take some friends for a few drinks before or after dinner or whatever it is you're doing downtown. You shouldn't expect to be able to purchase a cheap drink, but the place isn't exactly a dive bar either and doesn't give off the "cheap drink" vibe.
Long story short: I'll definitely be back.
This is the first bar I ever went. Â I was underwhelmed. Â It was pretty generic when you take away the peacock-themed decor, and the menu was equally bland. Â They made a pretty tasty cranberry tonic but the cocktail waitress questioned my order, because apparently it's unheard of to order anything virgin in a bar? Â The food menu was really generic and overpriced too. Â Granted, it's a nice place, but it was filled with 'sloppy drunks' as my friend put it and it was only 10 pm. Â My mom didn't like their Baileys & coffee. Â I might go back if I am downtown with time to kill but I think I'd probably pick somewhere a little more unique over the Peacock, given the choice.
Review Source:This place popped up in my dream last night. Â
I'm not really sure how I ended up here... or who the faceless guy in the suit arguing with someone on his phone was... or why the bartender never turned around, yet there were consistently new drinks in front of me. Â Â The only thing I can recall was that the huge stained glass peacock looming overhead seemed as magnificent as I ever remembered it in real life during the many evenings I spent here while living in Spokane.
This spot is a favorite for many in town predominately because it's always been here. Â As the local "classy & elegant" bar in the Downtown, the Peacock Room pours a really strong drink, serves up a nice happy hour menu, and offers a cool spot to relax after a long day doing whatever business you do. Â
While sometime there is live music tucked into one of the corners, I must say that it's nice to stop by for a quiet drink with friends or a date. Â As a college student, I always felt a little out of place coming here, and my friends and I would plan our trips accordingly so that we were dressed up a bit more than the jeans and sweatshirts we'd worn to class that day. Â
That being said, the bartenders are friendly and prompt, and the dimly lit bar is a cozy, well maintained place that feels like a step back in time. Â If one couldn't see the cars whizzing by outside they might think that the 1914 founder Louis Davenport himself could walk in at any time to share a Crab Louie, invented here in his name almost a century ago. Â
But of course the only way a party like that could occur would be in your own dream... and maybe you or Mr. Davenport could get that faceless cell phone guy to pipe down and drink his stinger.
I might have been born in the wrong era.  The Peacock Room located in the historic and ultra chic Davenport hotel (Eastern Washington's only 5 star hotel) Yes, lunch is great and so is after work drinks.  But the Peacock  Room is my favorite place for a night cap. I'm a sucker for live music and often there's jazz , blues or a acoustic singer/songwriter performing.  It feels like an authentic rat pack hangout. For some reason the cashews they bring to the table are especially tasty. The late night menu is very good.  Try the cougar gold cheese and fruit plate. Also they make a mean bloody mary that's nice and spicy.
Review Source:I'd like to give this place 5 stars just because the decor is so elegant, but I just can't quite get there. Â It is a fabulous spot for lunch, as they have a good menu and a great buffet for $10 (the options on the buffet change daily but include carved options). Â This is also a great place to meet friends for a drink, hang out, and enjoy some good music.
Now for the small negatives: it has gotten more crowded and it isn't a great place for a dinner. Â Still, the huge liquor and wine options will garner appreciation from most anyone, and the ambiance is sure to please.
My friends and I LOVE the Peacock Room. Â The Davenport Hotel itself is the heart of Spokane. Â I love the history there and looking at all of the old pictures of this city.
The Peacock Room has gotten very busy as of late and I'm a little sad that it's become such a hot spot. Â I understand, but it is harder to get a seat now on the weekends. Â The music is always great and someone usually starts some dancing up by the band. Â The drink menu is pretty good, they bring pecans to every table and the service is great.
The only thing that I don't like is the food. Â I have been to the Palm Court (which also does the food for the Peacock Room) and thought it was terrible. Â I've never understood how such a wonderful establishment could have such awful food. Â The hamburgers are pretty safe if you are hungry. We usually stop in after dinner somewhere else though for drinks.
Great menu, great wine list and awesome decor. Â The building itself is breathtaking, considering it's Spokane. Â Even if it were in NYC or London, I'd be impressed. Â Didn't get to stay at the hotel, but I did enjoy the Peacock Room for the night.
I was starving and asked for the crab cake appetizer, with a side of mashed potatoes. Â Service was kinda slow, but maybe because it seemed more so since I was starving. Â Anyway, the crab cake came out and it was a full order, not the appetizer. Â They were nice about it though and only charged me the price of the appetizer. Â The extra crab cake served as a free breakfast for the next morning.
Also ordered some wine. Â First glass I thought was disgusting and sent it back. Â No questions asked, virtually. Â Then I tried another one, the huckleberry something and it was great. Â Music was entertaining as well.
I'd definitely come back and hopefully with a room upstairs as well!
