OK food, expensive. Just OK. Casino Dock Sandwich Special is ridiculous and way over-priced. Avoid it.
Poker faced employees.
EXTREMELY slow bar employees and service.
On the water with a good view of the harbor and ocean.
Run down and dirty, shop worn atmosphere with no character or energy.
Usually a band on holiday weekends. Read that as sometimes.
I don't understand- is this no longer dockside cafe? Anyhow, get the buffalo milks here. In fact, order about 15. There i a bathroom in the Casino across the way that you can use. Oh, and live music A LOT. Just enjoy the drinks and the locals and your time on an island paradise. FRESH BANANA BUFFALO MILK! Just make it happen...
Review Source:Loved the live music and the range of people, from 20 somethings celebrating birthdays to the much older couple dancing hand in hand on the dance floor. Â Oh, and don't forget to try the local favorite drink, Buffalo Milk. Â It's dessert in itself, but careful...it'll get you buzzed faster than expected. Â You wouldn't guess since you can't even taste the alcohol. Â Also, Pedro's is right on the pier. Â We jumped in the water to cool down before ordering another. Â Pedro himself makes and serves the drinks. Â Friendly, fun place. Â It was our preference over Descano Beach, which got super crowded and it was difficult to walk into the water with all the rocks.
Review Source:Fish tacos? Check!
Shot of Patron cafe? Check check!
Two visits to Pedro's in one weekend? Checkity check check check!
The first visit was our way back to our hotel after zip lining. We needed a little hair of the dog from the night before. The guy at the bar; "yes I'm Pedro." I told my wife later that every guy who works that bar says that. Then we went back and I noticed his picture all over the place with patrons. And there he was posted up again. Pedro!
Nice guy, nice little bar with food and a view. You have to stop in for at one beer on your trip next time.
First time to Catalina and got a pretty fun show.
- Environment - Â
Right off of the water and a partial daytime bar. This was a really nice place to just hang outside, enjoy some food a few drinks and a live band. The ordering area is in the back with a pretty good selection of food. Aside from the flies that are all over the town, this was an enjoyable place to grab a bite.
- Pricing and food -
We got the 3 tacos (shrimp, fish, carne asada) and surprisingly the carne asada outdid the fish and shrimp. Considering we are surrounded by water, I would have thought that the seafood would have stuck out. All of the taco's though were quite good I must say. The pricing was pretty average for the island and for the quality and the show, I'd say it's a good deal.
Overall - i wouldn't mind stopping by here again. If you can check out the museum right across from it, there's a lot of interesting things there to take a look at!
Pedro's Bar (formerly/also the Dock Cafe and very previously Shipwreck Joey's) is the best daytime bar on the island. He makes the best Buffalo Milk because he uses half a banana per drink. Grab a table first, order food inside (don't use the employee door) and then order drinks at the bar. Â
The dock gets crowded when there is a band playing - usually from 3 to 6 on summer weekends. Â Bathrooms are across the street at the Casino, but don't try to take your drink off the patio.
This is a must-do when on the island.
Why did I get so many drinks at Descanso???  Why didn't we hit Pedro's first???  Definitely order the Buffalo Milk here...it's THE BEST on the island.  Unlike the other places, Pedro's actually makes it with REAL banana, and trust me...it really does make a difference =d  With a buffalo milk in hand and live music in the background...this is a great place to have a great time =)))
Also, I do NOT like milkly drinks, but I loved this...man...I sure could use one right now =d
Spent a good 4 hours at the bar last Sunday waiting for the Marina Del Rey Flyer.
Pedro is a crack up! It seems he has a lotttttt of regulars too. They were all very nice. We chatted with everyone. He also introduced my friends and I to the Buffalo Milk blended cocktail. It tastes pretty good! But don't ask him whats in it, the answer will be "a lot of shit." Lol. It basically tastes like coffe, chocolate, banana, milk smoothie. All the other drink my friends loved and fair priced it seemed.
The only food we got was chips, salsa and guac and shrimp ceviche. The salsa and guac were pretty good! Needed salt, but the chips were fine and not too thick. The ceviche was super tasty. The shrimp is chopped up extremely fine, which I'm not used to, but it made it easier to scoop up I suppose.
All the other deli sandwiches and cheeseburgers that were coming out looks tasty as well. When I return one day I will be back.
