Stopped in here Saturday afternoon for a few beers while my girlfriend and her friend were shopping in the area. Â Decent comfortable locals bar, really friendly bartender, locals that all knew each other, and pretty fair prices. Â Taps are mostly Bud, Coors, etc, so nothing to get excited about there, but that fits the kind of bar this is. Â Decent place to have a few and catch part of a Giants game if you have some time to kill.
Review Source:perhaps this type of place just isnt my scene, or perhaps its because i'm not of the ethnic majority, the attitude wasnt all that great from the bartender (one in particular), who scoffed at our questions about drink options and recommendations, sorry we asked and thanks for letting us know that all you drink is whiskey, a simple "no i dont have recommendations" would have sufficed. the pool was fun, though it costs money.
the drinks were decently priced and contained decent amounts of alcohol, and this would be an okay place to spend a few hours in your evening after a day on the slopes, since there is nothing else to do in tahoe city (if that's where you're spending the night).
Do you like beer? Â Do you like Jager? Â If you answered yes to either (or both?) of those questions then this is your place in Tahoe City. Â I was just a weary traveler (went skiing and was exhausted, although it was in a good way, if that makes sense). I stopped here for a bit of libation and was not disappointed. Â The bartender was attractive and told me I looked like I knew a thing or two about skiiing. Â As I noticed on the slopes that I was dressed like a buffoon (compared to the adolescents I saw snowboarding) I assume she was being flirty with me. Â I stayed and drank all night and would do it again.
Review Source:My first time at Pets was about 15 years ago. My husband and I met the greatest people. We were daytime drinkers so we were blessed to meet a girl named "Ruthie" Pete and Johnny B.. Thanks to them, we were always felt welcome. I loved' it. It was the friendliest place in town. Marylynn
Review Source:The one-and-only spot in Tahoe City for a game of pool or shuffle board.....couple that with your favorite brew (full bar) - very reasonable prices.....no matter what time of day.
Flat screens and a solid Juke Box (if that's your fancy.)
All ages (college up to local 'veterans'.)
Pete N Peter's is a bit hidden (off the highway), behind it's own private parking lot....if you get lost in attempting to find this TC institution, ask any local :)
Newly added/opened (separate ownership) is a hawaiian-theme deli/restaurant adjacent to Pete N Peter's. Â Nice, simple, inexpensive offerings of pork, chicken and rice bowls.
Well... I have had many many late nights at this fine & yet classy establishment in Tahoe City! Each visit to Pete & Peters is quiet unique. Sometimes it is empty and you have the Tahoe locals, sometimes it is packed with many young San Franciscans, and sometimes you get the Reno crowds. It is always fun to check out Pete and Peters to re-live the college days with CHEAP beer, pool, shuffle board, etc. $10 pitchers = amazing! I think we kept ordering them because they were $10. When in San Francisco you are lucky to get a single beer for $5. The crowds are always interesting here- and it is a great local Tahoe watering hole!
Review Source:We came to this sports bar based on the person over the phone who said they had the hockey package. When they tuned to the channel for us it said "channel not purchased," and told us the storm must have knocked out the channel. BS - but I think she felt bad for brining us here and called all the places around until she gave us an alternate place to go: Blue Coyote in Squaw. It was nice of her, but we already knew that, and would have not missed the first period of play if we weren't misled here in the first place.
Note not to come here for the food. They have chili and one soup special. That's IT. No bar food. Only bar games, bar drinks and old bar men.
I have not been to Pete and Peters as an adult. Only as a little kid when they sponsored my dad's softball team! And more recently as a teenager  when I got to peek inside a see a full poster sized picture of my dad's team "Scott Construction" from back in the 80's. Any bar that has that stuff has to be rad. Actually, I knew quite a few of the regulars back in the 80's...Pete and Peters was the place to be. I don't know if I'll go after seeing bad reviews....this place holds a special place in my heart and I don't want my perspective ruined. :)
Review Source:There are two different faces of Pete and Peter's. Â There is the one that has existed for years where you can grab a beer and relax with the locals. Â There is the other one that has reared its ugly head since Pierce Street Annex has closed its doors. Â (Thank the Lord Almighty. Â Gawd I hated that place and every loser that walked through the door. Â You blackened the waters of Tahoe for years!) Â Anyway, now that I have made my feelings known for the incredible losers who have tried to make a club hangout in Tahoe City, let me get to why you should go to Pete and Peter's. Â (Wait, let me go back to the club kids in Tahoe City. Â Please go away. Â Go down to South Lake. Â Please ski at Heavenly. Â Don't go away mad, just go away...seriously....stop ruining Tahoe City...really....and take your ugs and trucker caps with you.)
The best time to go to P and P's is any weekend afternoon, especially after skiing or hanging on the lake. Â It is never crowded, the TVs always have a game on, and the bartenders are always cool. Â Go at night during ski season and you risk being overwhelmed by Juicy Couture and North Face jackets that have never been off a groomed ski trail. Â Go in the afternoon and you can hang at the bar and talk to some good Tahoe locals who hate the Ugs crowd even more than you do. Â
Most importantly, the beer is always cold.
maybe i just went here on "douchebags free before 10pm" night or something. like a bad bad fraternity reunion party. old creepy guys peering down our shirts while we tried desperately to order a drink. Left 10 minutes later after failing to get even a nod from a bartender and having the crowd hogging the shuffleboard refuse to let us do the "quarters on the table for the next round" thing. also, there was a gigantic blow-up-doll-tons-of-penile-party-favors-type bachelorette party in full effect here. ladies, it's 30 degrees out. put some damn clothes on.
Review Source:Usually one of my favorite post-apres ski, post-dinner bars in Tahoe. Â Unless of course there's a bus load of 20-something posers from the Bay Area hounding the bartenders, being jerks to the waitresses & basically acting like they're back on Union Street & being the typical bar-scum jackasses they are.
Wow, am I am turning into a bitter old guy already? Â Well the crowd thinned out fairly quickly (musta been free Red Bull night down @ Pierce St.) & the place reverted back to a laid back, mostly locals crowd of pool-playing, fun-loving mountain folk. The ever present Warren Miller films somehow always to be playing on their TV's, the drinks are "just like mom used to make em' strong" & there's just a great ski-town feel to the whole place. Â
GOOD BAR, CHEERS!!
(my apologies to all the 20-something bar scum jackasses out there mainly because I probably was one too, once or twice)
I used to think it was someones sick joke to put all the great resorts in North Lake and all the great casinos, restaurants and bars in South Lake. Â NLT is scarce when it comes to life after 8pm. Â This was before I discovered Pete 'n Peter's. Â
Great local hangout with shuffleboard, my third favorite contact sport, and billiards. Â Not to mention the 15 to 1 ratio of men to women. Â The majority of these men (boys, really) being hot shot boarders or skiers. Â HOT! Â Veering back on course, Pete 'n Peter's delivers exactly what you want in a cute little mountain town such as Tahoe City.
Jacquelyn the bartendress was certainly someone to write home (or a review) about. Â To be able to put up with drunk people is one thing to put up with drunk mounties is a whole other jar of pickles. Â She took every comment with stride and kept those beers (and the occasional pierced nipple) comin! Â Yes, I had my first shot of pierced nipple here. Â I never knew there was such a shot?? Â Kids these days. . .
After they closed down just about every other bar in the area except maybe Rosie's (which is more of a restaurant) and Sunnyside (which is more of a lodge), P&P's is the only place left. Â It's still going strong.
Still locals but more and more transplants and weekend warriors seem to come here too. Â You can still get a drink at the bar but it's definitely more crowded than last year.
Note:
why oh why did the owners of Pierce Street Annex have to get a divorce. Â Did King Solomon split the baby! Â Did Nick and Jessica split their collective IQ? Â (can you split the number 1)
