Terrific breakfasts. Best in town. Dinner not so much.

I love this place! Not gourmet and they are afraid of salt but the food is honest and the service is great.
A great place for breakfast and dinner without killing your wallet or making you angry.

    We loved it.

Peters Inn is an "old school" by-the-wayside dining establishment. My husband and I both felt like we had somehow stepped back into our 1980's Midwestern childhood, which was a delightful surprise.

Your waitress will be large-haired and harried but oh-so-friendly. Your skin will stick to the vinyl booth. You will marvel that there is a salad bar in this day and age. You will feel like the only tourists in the joint, which is such a nice change in a land full of tourist attractions.

You will order "old school" food like chicken-fried steak, and your plate, when it arrives, will be piled high and look just like grandma had made it.

    Highly recommended.

(Note: skip the prime rib, though. It was a disappointment.)

Whether you're hiking the Goat Rocks, cross-country skiing the Cascades, or touring Rainier, Peters Inn is a nice greasy spoon/lounge worth stopping by for sustenance.  I've been here a few times, and this place has done me well.  After a 12-mile hike up at Snowgrass Flat, this place totally replenish the calories burned in the alpine wonderland above.  I had a bacon cheeseburger and a brew, and they hit the spot.  Our young waitress was nice, but she was also tired---I'm sure dealing with stinky hikers such as myself is hard work!  :)  But she was totally nice and made us feel at home.

It's been a while since I've been in the lounge, but I took a peak in there to reminisce.  Would love to give it a try for karaoke night, if only to hear the legends and stories about Kathleen and Becky!

A grocery store clerk that I asked about Peters Inn said "go somewhere else". I didn't and regretted it. The first problem was the waitress who was obviously irritated that she had to wait on us. Then the meal  I ordered, an open faced hot turkey sandwich was a shock. It was 3 slices of turkey sandwich meat, heated up on the grill and then covered (along with the bread and potatoes) with gravy. At least it was hot.

The problem is that there are not many restaurants in Packwood, but I would rather have you eat hamburgers every day at Cliff Droppers than have you go to Peters Inn.

Meh.  My father-in-law really wanted to go here on our recent journey to Washington state because he remembered that they had good food, so we had a dinner here and a breakfast.  The quality of the food must have slipped over the years; none of our party was impressed.

The dinner was OK, the breakfast was poor.  The steak I had for dinner needed A1 sauce,  and to me a good quality well-flavored steak does not need A1.  The vegetables were good but not a standout; I don't even remember what else I had with the meal so it must not have made an impression on me.

For breakfast I asked for the country potatoes instead of hash browns, and they were inedible.  I think they were left over from earlier in the week and recooked for the breakfast.  They were rock hard, wrinkled, and tasteless.  The rest of the breakfast was OK, but again not memorable.  When I complained about the potatoes they were taken away and I was brought pretty good hash browns sauteed with onions, and I believe we got a credit on the bill.  Service was friendly, but it didn't make up for the poor quality of the food.

We also spent the night at the Inn.  It was not pricey, but it was quite a bit more expensive than the nearby Packwood Hotel and, except that we had our own bathrooms, really not any better.  In fact, it lacked the charm and ambience of the Hotel.  The rooms were very large but were apparently decorated sometime in the 1980's, and there were an awful lot of sketchy people hanging around until fairly late at night (their noise came through the doors pretty easily).  We also had to go into the bar to get the keys to our rooms.  All of this gave us the impression we were staying at a seedy motel; my husband made a comment that the place probably rents the rooms by the hour.

If I find myself back in Packwood I will eat and stay anywhere else but here.

Stayed here overnight last summer. Popped into the bar side of the restaurant.  I was the only one in there.  The bartender was cleaning the place and hardly paid any attention to refilling my glass with FLAT beer.  Had some greasy food and left.  The whole town was shut down by 7PM.  Unfriendly staff.  I won't even consider stopping in this town my next time through. Avoid at all costs.

Divey, greasy-spoon diner with decent food and good service. There was a dying fly on our table but the rest of the place seemed clean so I wasn't concerned. We named him Floyd.

Me, Peter's Inn, and A Peterbilt Burger!  You can never have enough Peter!

Having just moved to beautiful Lewis County, I wanted to explore the countryside on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.  So, I hopped on Route 12 and headed East without a plan or a clue, but definitely a hunger.   About 1.5 hours into my tour of the Lew, I saw Peter's Inn and just knew it was built for me.

The staff was friendly and the restaurant clean.  I ordered a Peterbilt Burger, which is a mix between a french dip and a regular cheese burger.  It was delicious!

Peter's inn is just a classic diner with a bar and lounge in the back.  The food is pretty basic, but they do have a small salad bar.  If I weren't so freaked out by salad bars I would have gotten that with my burger rather than fries.

There aren't too many decent looking places to eat along Route 12. Peter's Inn sets itself apart.

Our family ate here on a Mon. night.  We thought we would try a different place as we like to spead the wealth and visit local eateries while on vacation.  The place was clean, the service was okay, but the food was just blah.  We all agreed that we should have skipped Peters and went to Cruisers for a second night in a row.

We stopped in Peter's Inn just to say we did - we were exhausted from our day and had just snowshoed until dark but we felt compelled to stop in as many places as we could in Packwood.
Fast forward to 1:00 a.m. and the waitress asks if I want another cocktail. "Don't you think I've had enough?" I ask, seeking guidance. "Well, I guess I can go count em for ya," says the waitress. Kathleen says, "Just bring her another one."

Great mix of locals and skiers in town. Obviously, the drinks keep coming - whether you order them or not. We are big fans of Peter's Inn and I think Peter's is a big fan of us too. Saturday nights are alive and kicking in Packwood!!

My favorite quotes of the night as a result of our festive presence:
    "This NEVER happens here."
    "He NEVER does that."
    "Did she go to Juilliard?"
    "You have to come back!"
    "You're their BOSS?"
"My cousin's daughter was Miss Seattle"
"Welcome Becky to the stage!" - "Becky's drunk."
"Ah, you picked a hard song..."
"There's no vodka in this cranberry."

We didn't eat here, but we sure did bring the house down with our karaoke skills and their $4.00 Tanqueray and tonics. Locals are fun and friendly and eager to get visitors on stage to sing a few tunes. Our lineup:

    1. "Black Velvet"
    2. "Welcome to the Jungle"
    3. "Pour Some Sugar on Me"
    4. "Me and Bobby McGee"
    5. "Living on a Prayer"
    6. "Barracuda"
    7. "Blaze of Glory"

They have a dance floor with enough room to Riverdance, two-step, booty shake, mosh, and modern dance from song to song throughout the evening. Karaoke is a Saturday night feature with Fred putting the needle on the record and Louie Lou jamming on his electric guitar.

We are now famous in Packwood. Seriously, we are. Like Beyonce famous.
