Veronica is a gem.  Very personable and engaging.  I liked the laidback attitude and vibe.  The chardonnay was a favorite.

Pillbury turned me on to Arizona wine. It was the very first I found tolerable, and I'm grateful for that. Hard not to love the Diva and the Aussie does NOT disappoint with the shiraz! A tasting room bonus: pair the wines with chocolates! My personal fave: the hot chile chocolate!!!

This is a great place to do a wine tasting.  The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.  Don't miss the chocolate pairing!

We had first tried some Pillsbury wines and met Sam Pillsbury (quite the character) at a tasting in what use to be a Wine type store a few years ago at the Outlets at Anthem. We liked (but didn't necessarily love them), but did buy a bottle of the Rose. We have seen their wines on the menu at a few local restaurants in Phoenix, but were a bit hesitant to try them again.

I was missing out! We really liked all of the whites and reds we tasted. Pillsbury provides an outstanding quality and complexity at a reasonable price. We tried one of the reds (darn it I can't remember which one, I will have to call and ask) with a piece of espresso chocolate and it was divine. We bought a bottle of the 2011 WildChild Red since we felt it could easily be enjoyed with dinner or on it's own (and it tasted so different from the 2010, which was also good). They have quite a bit of seating toward the back of the tasting room.

I love supporting local businesses and am proud to be able to recommend this local winery! We got to take home our tasting glass too, which were nice and big and not plastic. Woo hoo!.

The Arizona wine industry is finally coming into its own. And leading the way is Pillsbury Wine Company. Their tasting room in Cottonwood is a really comfortable and enjoyable place to taste their wines. I'm personally a fan of the Roan Red and Wildchild Red. And I'm even more of a fan of the chocolate pairings they do with their wine tastings - definitely something you must experience!

My husband and I have been to Pillsbury twice now, and both times we had a great time. Great wines, sweet people working there, I love the decor in the tasting room, and over all it was a great experience. Next time we visit Sedona, we will probably go for a third time!  We love it there!

We had the best time at the Pillsbury Tasing room.  Dana is a joy and very helpful and instructive.  Her energy is a breath of fresh air especially when you are visiting from the east.  The wines were suprising.  We have gained a new respect for Arizona wines because of the offerings at Pillsbury.  Worth the drive to Cottonwood and there are thee other tasting rooms nearby.

We already have a couple of other favorite AZ wineries we're become familiar with, but on this first visit in early May, this probably became our favorite tasting room.  Veronica was behind the counter, who took us expertly though the offerings as you'd expect.  We noticed Dana painting a mural in the back bathroom, who took a break to join in the wine discussions. We had a blast with a couple later glasses and sharing some cheese with the two.  Not only are they passionate and knowledgeable spokespersons for the winery, but obviously enjoy welcoming and befriending strangers to Cottonwood.  We left with several bottles and look forward to returning next time.

What a fun place to enjoy some wine.  I could have kicked back, relaxed, and spent the entire day in the Pillsbury Wine Company tasting room.  The sommelier was one of the most friendly, energetic and passionate people I have ever encountered.  She certainly made a wonderful experience even more pleasurable.  Not only did she pour a very generous amount into our tastings, but she even decided to go off the list when she knew we weren't going to like one of the wines.  She even gave my dad a taste of an extra wine when he just had a random question about the name of the grape.  Most importantly,  the flights ranged from good to excellent.  None were awful.

The room is small and there aren't a lot of places to sit.  It's also kind of dark.  But we had so much fun standing at the bar and listening to the sommelier talk about the wines as we drank them, that it didn't matter.  We left with two bottles that I can't wait to open up and enjoy again.

I never even knew that Arizona had a wine country until I met Sam Pillsbury a few weeks ago.  Now I am telling everyone to take a quick day trip up to cottonwood to experience his wine, and all the other wonderful vineyards and tasting rooms in the area.  You won't regret it.

    Dana! more wine please.
this was the second stop on a wine tour in Sedona with Sedona Rock Adventures. it was also my favorite.

not a bit of snobbery in this place. just a genuine love of wine. for me, wine is good and i like it because it gets me drunk quicker than beer. i have really no appreciation of good or bad wine. but coming here, it was all about the service.

our hostess, Dana, was so full of love and energy, one can't help but to get excited about fermented grapes (i think). she does this all day, and to attend a tour group and still be that excited?! well, pour me another.

the owner, whom is also a movie director, sat and talked passionately about wine with us. it was truly a marvelous experience to sip and chat with these folks. they even let our pooch come in and respite from the winter chill!

great, great stop and highly recommended to those on a verde valley wine tour.

We stopped here on a wine tour with Sedona Red Rock Adventures. This was our groups favorite stop! Dana was so great as our hostess. Funny, bubbly, and passionate about the wine! We even got to meet Sam Pillsbury who was in the winery that day! We enjoyed some amazing wines and had a couple platters of cheese as well. Nice atmosphere, good wine, good company. What a great place :)
Oh, and I wanted to mention that they welcomed our dog into the winery! Thank you!!

We stopped here and my friends tried the selection that had the "best" wines. They enjoyed it. I was in the mood of a white but not sweet. Dana made me tried one that had a mix of grapes and a Chardonnay so I can make up my mind. I had the Chardonnay. In general the service is good more when you are lucky to have Dana taking care of you. She treated my friends with some chocolate too.

Pillsbury is so well worth the visit.  Every single vine Sam Pillsbury has is planted in AZ, and though they make many wines, it seems they may favor Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, and Petite Sirah.  But fear not, white wine drinkers and dessert wine lovers will be impressed too!

The tasting room is so inviting, with comfy chairs, occasionally live music, and the BEST tasting room hostess on the planet: Dana.  Seriously, if you are in Cottonwood, you've got to stop at Pillsbury and meet Dana.  She is an exceptional human being with such positive, playful energy and is so extremely knowledgable and descriptive about their wines.  She's helped harvest countless grapes, and I believe even helped create a blend or two.  She is joined by other beauties--Veronica to name one; Sam knows how to pick em!  These women are beyond intelligent and are such a joy to be around.  It takes a LOT of energy to work a busy tasting room; one has to flit back and forth between groups of tasters, remembering not only which wine to pour next but also continue ongoing conversations with every one of them.  Dana, Veronica, and every other tasting room associate I've ever met has orchestrated things really smoothly, and I have never ever left empty-handed.

Cottonwood is a gem and it would be a sad day if you didn't stop into Pillsbury while there.

I enjoyed the wines here so much I even bought one to bring home.  Very nice place that in addition to the wine, had some nice chocolates available as well.  A little disappointing that the glass in not included thought unlike across the street.  Would definitely return though.

My husband and I drove all the way out to Cottonwood just to go to this winery, only to find that it was not a winery at all.  Their grapes are apparently grown down in Wilcox and their winery is in Page Springs.  This is just a tasting room.

Still, it is a very nice tasting room.  The good a/c and sleek modern interior made this a great place to cool off after walking around in the hot sun.  We both really enjoyed our tastings though I was disappointed that they were out of one on the list I picked... and it was the one I had most wanted to try.  The woman doing the pouring didn't warn me ahead of time and she also seemed a little tired and slow.  But that was probably due to it being the 4th of July weekend with hot temperatures and hoards of tourists.  She was still friendly and even gave us a couple of chocolate toffees on the house.

It was an enjoyable experience and I loved the wines.  But I was surprised to find that only my premium tasting actually came with a souvenir glass.  My husband's basic one did not.  And the "glass" was plastic.  So, overall, not the best tasting experience I've had.

Interesting and very drinkable reds, limited runs, meaningful little stories.
Nice place to sit and read too.
Dana handled the multi-generational crowd with ease!

Pillsbury Wine Company, named for co-founder and New Zealand film director, Sam Pillsbury is one of the leaders of the growing Arizona wine industry.  Pillsbury wines have received national attention and acclaim.  They produce blended wines and varietals made from grapes grown in Arizona.  The tasting room is simple, yet well decorated and neatly maintained.  The staff is friendly and well informed about their offerings.  As seems to be the case for all of the wineries in the Verde Valley, there is a charge for tasting, which generally includes 5 different samples and a souvenir glass.  It is worth your while to seek out this little gem of a winery in the historic, quaint  old town section of Cottonwood.  As a bonus, across Main Street is the tasting room for Arizona Stronghold Winery.  Enjoy!
