I have never in my life been more upset with an establishment. We were first told it would be 15-20 minutes to be seated- it took closer to 30 minutes. After we ordered, 20 minutes later the server came back and told us that they were out of Pizza? How?! Half their menu consists of pizza! So fine, we will get over this and order something different. After this, another 15 minutes or so go by and the waiter comes back letting us know that they only have enough ingredients for ONE philly cheese even though two of them were ordered. At this point I was done. I paid for my drink and was offered a "complimentary" one and refused it as I just wanted to get out of there. What is even worse is that we didn't even get to see a manager or get offered a partial discount. That is a clear sign of incredibly poor customer service. The owner needs to do some cleaning up-with his staff.
Review Source:I really try to stay positive with reviews, but there's little here worth eating.  Wait staff is friendly, but service is painfully slow and you'd think for a mountainside pub would be the perfect place après ski to drink and chow down, but skip PTP and order a pizza next door at Pizza Soul instead.  And while that's baking, have a few drinks and shoot some pool at PTP which is what this place excels at doing.
Review Source:Setting: Atmosphere and decor is cool if you like a divey, old school style apres ski bar (which I do). Some cool couches to lounge in if you get them, pool table and some bar games, a few tvs, etc.
Food: Went here for the second time on Saturday evening around 6. Finally tried some of
the food: fried pickle chips and some buffalo wings. The fried pickles were average. The buffalo wings were big, but otherwise unimpressive.
Service: It's hard for this not to come across as a rant, but it probably will. To put it frankly, the main bartender here goes out of his way to be a jerk to you if you're not "a local". A friend asked what beers were on tap (we were out of view of the taps) and the bartender said "I don't know - a lot - go look". A request for menus resulted in some being gruffly thrown at us. A "Can I have another PBR when you get a chance?" received "it's busy I can't be getting beers for everyone". (Note: there were a total of maybe 30-40 patrons in the entire bar). It's too bad because we're staying a stone's throw from this place every weekend this winter, but will be looking elsewhere for our go-to watering hole.
Words cannot adequately describe the epic failure of this place....
We returned last night after a wonderful experience here last year- great food, wonderful energy, perfect night out after a long day skiing. Â Although we were warned that mgmt had changed and the quality of the place had slipped, we gave it a shot with hopeful expectations. Â The place was empty, dingy, and had a much different feel. Â We sat and ordered burgers anyway as it was 9:00 and we were starving. Gone was the extensive and varied menu we remembered from last year- burgers were one of four options to choose from in the entree department. Â Despite the fact we were only one of three tables getting food, only two burgers arrived. Â No explanation until we inquired 15 min later where the other ones were, and we were told " they read the ticket wrong". ( not quite sure how 4 burgers, med-rare, could have been confusing). When they finally showed up, another 10 min after that exchange, they were charred black and stiff on the outside and oozing raw on the inside. Â Horrified, and now completely out of patience and forced good humor, we sent them back. Â Knowing that there wasn't even anything else to go for on the menu, we asked for the check. Â Apologizing profusely, the waiter did comp our drinks, and we left as quickly as we could....(and not to mention, still hungry and sh*t outta luck for dinner). Â Never again.
It really sucks to be the 1 star complainer. Â Especially since I have been going to Sugarbush for 25+ years now and this "Pine tree pub" spot has always been a great time. Â BUT BEWARE I spent a week up there this past week and each night I went to this place because it really is the only place to go. Â I'm not exactly sure what the SCAM is, weather the bar staff is hooking their friends up or inflating the tabs to get better tip money or maybe the management is in on it but for 3 nights I had to dispute my bill (every time with a different bar tender so it's hard to pin point who is in on it). Â There were always beers or drinks or shots that noe of us ever ordered. Â The first night I had a $150 tab which I blindly paid assuming all of my friends had put their drinks on my tab and we would all square it out later. Â Found out after the fact all of my friends had tabs in the $100's also!!! Â For the remainder of the trip we payed cash inspected our checks and had to stay alert so we wouldn't get screwed. Â The problem was new friends were joining our little VT getaway each night as we got closer to New Years and each one has a story about how a bartender threw unknown drinks on their tab or tried to charge them $15 for a bud light trying to take advantage of potentially intoxicated people. Â All of my friends and I now are comparing our checking accounts and finding all sorts of weird charges. Â It's really sad that my NYE ended with the downstairs bar tender YELLING at me that I didn't know what I was talking about. Â He didn't know I had already been onto their little SCAM for 4 nights in a row. Â Unfortunately I can only blame myself for being too lazy to hop on the MAD bus down to the Local Folk Smoke House in Waitsfield. Â
Ps the place is really cool though and we made the best of it and overall had a great time but it's just sad to me and I hope the current management figures it out and cleans it up because it always has been a fun spot.
Service, friendliness, great.
But the owner is driving me bonkers, either totally irresponsible or doesn't care for his customers in the least. I left my phone there the last night I was in town and had to scoot. The bartenders, bless their heart, used my phone to post on my fb wall that I'd lost my phone within several hours. For the last 3 months now I've been calling, leaving voicemails, leaving messages with the bartenders, writing e-mails, posting on their fb, everything except for writing scorching yelp reviews (until now), just trying to get my phone back. Â I'd offered to pay, but I'm ready to rescind that offer. Â I haven't recieved a single response from the owner even acknowleding that I exist. Â I've been paying for the phone contract and data plan the whole time, I could have literally bought a plane ticket back to Vermont for less. I'd send UPS down there, but the owner apparently took the phone home to charge for some reason and I don't know where he lives.
