Pirates Pub

Pirates Pub is the standard Saturday evening stop for my family when I'm in town. They have an extensive menu featuring practically anything you could be in the mood for. If you are on a diet, they have recently released a lighter menu featuring healthier options.

Their appetizers are excellent. Try the homemade potato chips. They bring them out hot with a side of ranch. It's not the most flattering dish for your waistline, but it is so good.

The two stand out main courses in my opinion are the Chicken Gorgonzola and Black Beard's Sandwich. The Chicken Gorgonzola is a blackened chicken breast served over a bed of bow tie pasta smothered in a creamy Gorgonzola sauce. The portions are generous, so you will probably have enough left over for the next day.

Black Beard's Sandwich is a filet mignon topped with lettuce, tomato, and horseradish. I'm not a horseradish type girl, so I opt to get mayo on the side. It's just a perfect steak sandwich. They don't try to do too much with it like many restaurants do these days.

They offer a smoking an a non smoking section as well as a private party room. They have a couple of flat screen TVs. It's not the place to go watch a game, but you have entertainment if the conversation is lacking.

Bottom line: Pirate's Pub is an undervalued spot tucked into the side of one of Greenville's thousand strip malls. Step away from the chain restaurants on Greenville Blvd. and give it a try.
