My partner & I swung into Hudson for an impromptu weekend and just as we were saying that one could make a killing if they opened a gay bar here...we stumbled upon the closest thing.  Kevin was very kind and accommodating to us.  We were just a bit fussy about what wine to go with and he was cool.  We sat in the back room and enjoyed the perfect tunes...old & mellow...as we sipped great wine and nibbled the bites he put out as a complimentary pre-dinner spread.  It was affirming to see Kevin take such pride in his space and we wish him well.  Use the chalk in the bathroom and write an inspirational message before you leave.  Whimsical and relaxed spot.  Attractive to anyone & everyone.

I just can't get my disappointing visit to Hudson,NY out of my system- and I travel extensively for work so I've had my fair share of ups and downs.  But there was something truly awkward about my experience- and it all started at PM Wine Bar.  Like other reviewers, we felt like we weren't "invited" to the bar.  Everyone obviously knew each other and couldn't be bothered to even acknowledge us (there were five other people in the bar). The bartender stood right in front of us singing along to the music and avoiding eye contact.  After an odd amount of time he stopped singing and took our order.  The selection was very small for a wine bar- and then, no food either. I wish the website stated kitchen hours because we were hoping for a small snack. My husband tried to chat with the bartender and other patrons but got the curt one-word answer thing.  We finished our mediocre wine and left.  Sadly, the rest of our visit went much like this.  Unfriendly, extraordinarily expensive, and more or less ho hum.  Wish we had stayed in Rhinebeck....

Returned here after several months.  Unwelcoming atmosphere unless you're one of the chosen regulars.  Wine selection pretty sad.  Definitely a business opportunity for another wine bar in Hudson.

On Sunday, August 11, 2012, a group of at least 15 women came into this establishment near 4pm. It was in celebration of a bridal shower. There was 1 gentleman sitting at the bar, who wound up being the only nice person in the bar. He was congratulatory towards the two women celebrating another stepping stone towards their union and unfortunately the same gratitude was not expressed by the bartender/OWNER of the bar. Putting all that aside, we probably just paid the utility bill for the place in a span of two hours. He was borderline rude the entire time we were there. Upon entering, we made it a fun place, even trying to engage him to no avail. Instead we were presented with a piss poor attitude. Now based on the previous responses, I will assume the premise that he was not "having a bad day", but is just an unfriendly person, in general. No one felt welcomed and quite to the contrary felt very awkward even being there. It is a shame that when patrons walk through your doors, that they get this feeling. This is bad business and to you, owner, I would re-evaluate your business model and lighten up.

This place has such potential! The lure of this quaint wine bar is the decor and atmosphere. It's very cozy and family like. The back room was my favorite. It's as if you're sitting in someones living room.

I also appreciated the array of vine and varieties.

My main complaint about this place was the unfriendly service from the bartender/owner. It was my first time to Hudson, NY and I was inquiring about the bars history as well as the town and he couldn't have been more rude and cold. I'm sorry, I thought bartenders, especially the owner of  a bar would be much more engaging or at least friendly. I would understand if the bar was crowded but it was not. I would love to go back there, and I'm hoping the owner/bartender had an off night, because it is very cute place.

We're newcomers to Hudson, and were so glad to discover pm.  How great to have a local bar where locals feel at home, and also have a knowledgeable wine aficionado as the owner.  Straights, gays, and everyone in between ... This is the place!

    PM Bar

my friends and i, mostly broke moms.
go out once a month to drink, swear, and be merry
we chose PM Bar for the backroom and food, and yes, it's pretty.
    saturday nite at 7pm.
    SO......the bartender/owner explains without apology
that they don't do food when it's just him.
    one bummed out friend says.
then my other friend laughs that she tried to
pay for her diet coke, i know lame stoner,
with quarters in a sucrets tin.
yes sucrets. could she be any more cool. no.
the owner sneered and said he doesn't accept change and
her diet coke is on the house.
apparently counting twelve quarters was beneath him.
making people feel bad about being broke is not a
    great business plan
nor is not having a food menu on a sat nite when you are a tapas bar.
or at least try saying sorry to your hungry customers.
everyone has a bad nite. but a bad personality, a true bummer.
ps your cliche pandora dance mix was sad as well.

so yes. please patron PM Bar. and don't forget your pennies.

Friendly and relaxed... not cheap, but you're paying in part for the ambience, the crowd, and for the quality of the drinks. No Sutter wines or Michelob Light here.

Very cute little place.... Great atmosphere, great owner and wonderful selection of wine and tapas... with good price (never hurts!)... we stayed in Hudson for two days and we went there both nights! Highly recommended.

OK, much better the second time!  We'll put the lousy service from our first visit down to unfortunate circumstances.  Nice wine, reasonably priced -- and served in beautiful glasses -- and pretty good food (though maybe a little overpriced)?  Overall, a nice addition to the Hudson dining/drinking scene.

[old review follows]  Had great hopes for this place, based on other reviews.  Looked great when we arrived Sat. around 9 pm -- pleasant, well-designed space and people clearly enjoying themselves.  There was plenty of room in the place but a crush by the door, and no host/wait staff in sight, so I had to ask another customer if this was a private event.  Nope.  Made our way to a table, waited a bit, had to approach the bar to ask if food was still being served.  Woman from behind the bar brought a single, soiled, stapled list  and deposited it without a word.  After another 10 mins or so, and after many hopeful looks toward the bar, no one glanced our way or offered to take an order, though two people behind the bar helped themselves to drinks and chatted at length with customers there.  I suppose we could have been more aggressive trying to find out what the procedure for ordering was supposed to be, but we distinctly felt unwelcomed, and we left.

I hope I'll be able to change this review after a future visit -- plan to give it one more try.

The most civilized drinking establishment in Hudson.  A place for friends to meet for a drink, get caught up on the latest talk about town and enjoy a fine selection of cheeses.

Went there last evening for a pre-dinner drink and it was great. Candlelit, nice atmosphere, and lovely staff. To the bartender: thanks for letting us try the absinthe!

Great selection of wine ( and in all price ranges)
Awesome and tasty snacks, and best of all the sweetest friendliest service!

My only complaint is that its kind of small, and you can't always get a place to sit.

Last time I was there they had some musicians in the corner playing folk music.  It was awesome, but we stood akwardly for a good 20 minutes, waiting patiently for some older folks to vacate so we could get some nibbles and have a place to rest the plate!

Nice wine list, great mixologists, they have 2 types of absinthe and the back room is Perfect for a small gathering.

This has become my home-away-from-home in Hudson. It's a beautiful, soothing space - Kevin the owner is an awesome guy with impeccable taste. I always run into friends and neighbors, catch up on gossip, etc. I've never had a bad glass of wine or bad recommendation, and the bacon-wrapped, blue cheese-filled,  sun-dried dates are so good they will make you slap your grandma.

Beautifully decorated, intimate wine bar with good, friendly service. We enjoyed two (generously poured) flights of wine here while in town for the weekend. Nice selection and variety of wines at pretty reasonable prices.

Wish we had been able to come back for a meal, guess we'll just have to return next time we decide to retreat from the city for a weekend!

Best, (perhaps only?) wine bar in the Hudson Valley. It's a perfect combination of upscale wine bar and local neighborhood hangout. Almost as soon as it opened we were regulars here.  Lovely upscale rustic decor and we always love the music (I often wonder if they haven't pirated my Ipod?) Kevin (the owner) and the rest of the staff are fascinating people.  Great meeting place for local artists, musicians and anyone else who enjoys a great glass of wine and engaging conversation.  Though not incredibly extensive (it's a small place!) the wine list is well chosen.  I've never had a glass here I didn't like, and Kevin can always make a recommendation that perfectly fits my mood.  There are also lovely small plates and a few larger ones to satisfy the desire to nosh, and Kevin's homemade beef stew if especially delicious and comforting in the winter months. Yum!

Great space, great music, great service, friendly people. it might be a wine and tapas style bar but it should also be said that they make the greatest martinis on the planet. Worth making the trip to Hudson. Shop for antiques, go to PM after.
