The old Pocahontas County Opera House is a gem in the little town of Marlinton.  There's plenty of room for seating during musical performances, and the gorgeous room lends itself well to anything from square dancing to yoga.  I haven't seen a theatrical performance there yet, but I have high hopes.

I went to my first Opera House performance during Allegheny Echoes a couple weeks ago.  The place was packed, but it still felt cozy and intimate.  I don't think it can seat more than 250 people, but there was still standing room.

The building itself was beautiful.  There were a ton of windows and there was a little bar counter in the corner, though I don't think anybody was selling anything that night.  The ceiling looked like it had been tin pressed.  Somebody said the building was 100 years old.  Very cool.

I think Ben Sollee and My Morning Jacket are playing at the opera house at the end of the month.  I'll definitely go back!
