Awesome burgers. They aren't kidding with the 100% Angus Beef. Ordered mine medium and it was perfect. All the fixin's - tomato, lettuce, onion, cheese - perfectly seared and on a fresh, durable bun. Fries were crispy and golden, perfectly cooked.
Service was fast and friendly. This is a great stop for anyone heading to or from Devils Tower.
Surprisingly decent food for the middle of nowhere. If you're a burger fan, you'll be good to go: one of my friends got the bison burger and the other got the elk burger. Â Both were very happy. Â I got a chef's salad minus the meat--that was the nearest I could get to a vegetarian entree--but I was hungry enough I probably could have licked the paint off the walls (even if it smelled a little like cigarette smoke) so the salad tasted great. Â This is obviously not their specialty, however. Â
If you choose to get an appetizer, be forewarned: Â I got the "sweet potato barrels" (pretty much little sweet potato "tots") and the order had at least 30 tots. (These were not as good as I'd hoped: Â I love sweet potato fries, but these seemed overly sweet.) Â It was more than I could handle on my own, and I didn't get much help from my friends, who had piles of their own french fries to accompany the massive burgers. Â Ask how big before you order! Â
Also, don't be intimidated when you walk in: you will be right on top of a table. Â There are a couple of rooms in back (though one is 21+) where you can find extra, more private, tables.
Hamburger was made in the old fashion way, excellent. Â I had the bison burger, again excellent. Â The fries were some of the best I've ever had. Â If you leave this place hungary then you can't be filled up.
Only reason I gave it a 4-star was the price. Â Realize quality comes at a price, and the food was quality. Â I will come back next time I'm in the area.
We stopped here on our way from Devil's Tower to Little Big Horn. Â Hulett wasn't necessarily the way we were going to travel but we saw a sign as we left the Tower recommending passing through Hulett because it was the quickest way to Big Horn. Â We were hungry for lunch as well so we went here based on reviews from other Yelpers. Â Glad we did! Â
Not much to look at from the outside: the place consists of a bar, café and restaurant.  We entered through the restaurant door as the sign outside directed us to.  Once inside, there is an eclectic décor, consisting of mounted animal heads, western regala, and antique-y type items.  Very small interior on the restaurant side.  Maybe 7 tables in different sizes that could seat about 30 people.  Also, there was a bit of an off-putting odor that I couldn't identify that had me a bit concerned but we stayed despite it. Â
They have a good-sized lunch menu, with burgers and sandwiches, primarily, with a couple of salads. Â In our group of four, three of us ordered the buffalo burgers, which were 8 oz. each! Â These were absolutely delicious. Â The seasoning was spot on, the buns were big and the bacon I had on mine was definitely not from a package: thick, smoky, juicy. Â The burgers were juicy and perfectly done. Â The fries looked homemade but didn't have any grease to them making them that much more addictive. Â Thicker cut with no seasoning. Â Just added a little salt for these. Â One of us ordered the special, the beef brisket sandwich which was huge and mouth-watering. Â With some local beer, total came to about $85. Â There is an 18% gratuity added for parties of four or more. Â Ample street parking. Â I would recommend this to others.
We had dinner here, not that we have much of a choice since everything was closed. It is in a town of only 400.
Lady was super nice, didn't hurry us even though we came in 15 minutes before closing. Food was decent, not to die for, but better than what I had expected.
I didn't like getting charged for splitting a plate with my 7 year old daughter though, but oh well.
The Ponderosa offers breakfast, lunch, dinner and has an attached bar as well for the nightlife.
Right in the center of this sleepy town, I stopped for breakfast before my drive to the Badlands of South Dakota.
Service was quick and especially friendly. Â I'm a decaf drinker and the waitress made a fresh pot so I wouldn't have to be drinking old coffee even though i was the only one in there and they weren't going to sell much coffee.
Breakfast was cooked to order, homemade and delicious. Â Great hashbrowns -- and I'm picky about them.
Give this place a try. We had dinner here. It doesn't look like much, but the food is very good and you get your money's worth. The wait staff is very friendly and our waitress was just the best! I had the Chicken Fried Steak - this had brown gravy which is a little different but it was a hubcap and very good. My wife had the steak salad - big, lots of steak tips, and very good. We both had pie a la mode for desert and the the ice cream was delish! I'm comin' back to this place - somehow...
Review Source:There are not many choices in Hulett, Wyoming and after eating many meals on the road in Wyoming our expectations were not that high.
Do not judge this restaurant on its decor. It looks simple and you might feel that the food will be the same. However, we were more than happily surprised with our meals. The salads were beautiful with fresh dark-green romaine lettuce. (Hard to find in this area of the state. Most salads we had up until then were basically white iceberg lettuce with dressing.)
My wife had the chicken with portabello, asparagas, and tomato. Fantastic!! The kids meals were definitely above average.
If you are driving to Devils Tower, don't pass this by. There is not much else and this will surpass your expectations. Enjoy.
