Salad bar and appetizers are pretty good.
Food is reasonable but not outstanding. Avoid the walnut crusted salmon....totally tasteless, no salt or spice of any kind.

Been 3 times.  The service is good but the food is below average.  All three times I was disappointed by the food.

I'll never give some place a bad review on one visit, too many variables, but after 3 times I can say I will not go back.  Good atmosphere, but that's about it.

There are plenty of locals, but I have noticed that those that grew up in Cheyenne, or Wyoming for that matter, do not appreciate or even know what good food is.  They people are friendly and nice, just not foodies.

Lunch is the best time to go. Menu has a wide variety of yummy sandwiches, burgers, salads, etc.  Don't skip the salad/soup bar. There is a great dining room as well as a bar in the back that is dark, quiet, and cozy with a large fireplace.  Ideal location for a business lunch or a lunch date.

Ok, from the outside you would not be able to tell how great this place is. The place use to be a Pizza Hut a few years ago and you can still tell that's what it use to be. But trust me once you walk in the door you are presently surprised. There is a bar area that is really chill an really a cool place. Then the restaurant area is decorated really well. So the decor is done very well.
The food was spot on. The salad bar is small but very fresh and very good. The salad bar also includes a soup of the day. The soup when I want was sage potato and it was fantastic. The prime rib sandwich was really good. I have to admit I was really surprised how good it was. It was one of the best prime rib sandwiches I've ever had. With this sandwich I asked to substitute the fries for fruit. I was again pleasantly surprised with how fresh and delicious this was. Noticing a trend? The prime rib sliders were also fantastic. Listen, I cannot say enough about this place. I'm not from around here but whenever I am back I will stop in.

Fantastic bar - well portioned drinks - no "Thimble" drinks here!

Salad bar is great - gotta try the hot bacon dressing over spinach.  The fresh bread is served warm - soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside.

My daughter and I split a Buffalo and Beef Sirloins to compare.  She'd never had Buffalo before.  Shoestrings were perfectly cooked as well.

The meat was cooked perfectly to order - a perfect medium rare.  Only thing that I'd suggest - go a bit easier on the black pepper - otherwise a PERFECT steak.

Service was exceptional - as good as any I have experienced anywhere.

Went here with my wife and we ordered normally what we order when we go to a "nice" restaurant or a steakhouse.  She ordered the $18 Walnut Crusted Salmon with rice and a side of vegetables.  I had the $28 Delmonico Rib Eye Steak, and we had the $9 Crab Cake appetizer.  Not bad prices for this type of restaurant.  The problem lies with the fact that the salmon was dry, and tasteless.  The side of vegetables had a strange "dish soap" taste to them and were very overcooked.  My steak was a poor cut to begin with.  Only a little over an inch thick and very gristly, not trimmed well.  I ordered it rare, and it arrive rare in spots - all the way to medium well in others.  It had no flavor, no seasoning.  I don't use steak sauce on steaks; that is a sacrilege to a good piece of meat, but this could have used some ketchup or something.  Not what you expect for a 28 dollar piece of meat.  My steak also came with the same "dish soap" tasting overcooked vegetables.   I had to send it back; which to their credit they did take off my bill, but the waitress seemed uneasy afterwards.  My wife would have sent hers back as well, but we were both almost embarrassed for the place and the poor food we were served.  Oh, forgot about the crab cakes: all cake, no crab, very pasty and tasteless.  I gave this place an upgrade from the one star it deserves, because my wife found a suitable glass of wine and I had one of my favorite draft beers.  It is a shame because this is supposed to be the upper end of Cheyenne dining.  I have had perfect sirloins and rib eyes cooked at the local Chili's and Outback Steakhouse, respectively, for half the price.  If your'e gonna charge nearly 30 bucks for a steak, you better damn well deliver.  Don't like the chains per se, but what local choice do we have?

Went there just after the lunch hour -- 12:45pm.  Clearly this was the time for the staff to go out to lunch; took 30 minutes to get food, and what they brought wasn't what we'd ordered.  It was close enough that we figured... "how bad could it be" ... well, it was pretty meh.  Prime Rib that looked like it had sat out for a day and then microwaved to death, pasta that was already cool when delivered.  Even the local chain restaurants do better.

If you are looking for an escape to visit with someone, this is the place! I like the bar/lounge area best, but the main restaurant has some nice booths too. If you go in the bar, and Chad is working, you'll get the best cocktail, service, recommendations in town. NO ONE can make a classic drink any better than Chad, and he knows his wines too! Something that is not on the menu, that is wonderful is their roasted almonds with Asian flare. OMG. Try and score the fireplace to chat, or you can get some booths tucked away in the lounge too. Their steaks, salads and apps are the best. Calamari is quite good considering you are in Wyoming. You won't be disappointed. I go there often, always leave a very happy camper. Tuesday nights, there is a special wine menu, and bottles are half off. Thursday night is martini night. They even have martini flights. How fun is that??!!

Poor Richard's is a steakhouse which has great food.  We went there 4/6/12 for the first time for dinner and ordered the Dijon Chicken with the Risotto cake.  It was fantastic food.  Unfortunately the waitress, Angela, made the entire experience so darn miserable that I probably will not go back.  Plenty of other great places in Cheyenne with great food and great service.  We ordered the Chicken Dijon which the menu clearly said came with a Risotto cake which is why we ordered it because we love Risotto. We only ordered one because we share all our meals.  Anyway we told her we wanted the Dijon Chicken and she asked if we wanted a baked potato, rice pilaf. . . I stopped her and said, "Doesn't it come with a Risotto cake?" She says, "Yes, but you also get a baked potato, rice pilaf . . ."  So my husband says fine then a baked potato.  Our food comes and low and behold it has the chicken and a baked potato and no Risotto cake.  So we call Angela over and tell her that we ordered it specifically for the Risotto cake and she points at my husband, raises her voice for the entire section to hear, and says, "Yes, but he ordered the baked potato!"  Literally yelling at us.  Shocked, we explained the conversation as it took place and she continued to argue that in fact she told us it was one or the other, but she would get us the Risotto cake if that's what we want.  Of course I told yes that's what we want.  After that she was even yet more rude, never asking us how the food was, and being very short when asking for desert (which of course we didn't get because staying their any longer would have been just crazy on our part.  Too bad great food ruined by Angela the waitress.   I wish I could have given this 4 stars because of the food, but the service was sooooo very poor that the taste of the food is not worth the misery.

Oh brother! This place was the biggest disappointment. The food was ok...HOWEVER, the server/bartender (we sat in the bar area) was about the rudest guy I have ever met. I was taking my mother here for Mother's Day and I suffer with Celiac Disease (which seemed to bother him tremendously...to put it simply, I was an inconvenience). I will do everything in my power to warn people here of their poor service standards and less than impressive menu. TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK!

We met family/friends here when visiting Cheyenne last week.  The fireplace was a nice place to sit and chat and share a few glasses of wine.  We decided to stay for dinner and I was pleasantly surprised with the lobster/cognac ravioli (from the specials menu).  The salad bar was just ok and the room temperature in the dining room was rather chilly.  (I wanted to return to the lounge and the fireplace.)

This place is terrible. I went there for their soup and salad bar and I was super disappointed. Everyone says this place is fine dining, but if I'm going to pay "fine dining" prices I expect everything to be made from scratch. The salad was what you would expect from any large gas station, wilted vegetables, salad dressings that came out of a 5 gallon bucket and bacon bits. The soup was potato, overly salty with no flavor and was overly thickened with corn starch and probably came from a can. I payed way too much. When I ordered a glass of wine and the waitress brought it to me with one table spoon of wine in the glass and 3 table spoons in a plastic carafe. The cheap, false pretension was ridiculous. If you're going to bring me a glass of wine just bring it to me in a glass. The atmosphere hasn't changed in 30 years and looks like it was converted from a red lobster minus the wooden fish. To be fair I haven't tried their steak or other entrees, but if they can't even make a good salad bar I don't want to.  The waitress was nice.

There's not a lot to choose from in Cheyenne in the way of food, and we stopped here after a long day of driving based on a recommendation from the lady at the front desk of our hotel.

When asked about the vegetarian options on the menu, the hostess very sweetly pointed me towards their Veal special.

Our waitress was personable and gave her honest opinions on what the best options were, and overall the food was good.  The pasta primavera was made with fresh, crunchy veggies, and John's steak was cooked to perfection.

It exceeded my expectations, which were really low.  I'd recommend stopping there if you're in Cheyenne.

The bar area is great for a quiet dinner or drinks. The food is always great and the prices are reasonable. If you like wine be sure to visit on Monday or Tuesday for half priced bottles. This is a must while in Cheyenne.

This place always seems like a good idea, then I go and wonder why I settled on this place.  Oh I remember, they have half price bottles of wine on Mondays and Tuesdays.  Really, it's the only reason why I go.  Their wine list is not extensive but they do carry one of my favorites, La Crema Pinot Noir, which at half price is much cheaper than I can get at my local liquor store.  The food is really just ok, not terrible, not fabulous, but I do understand why locals will recommend this place, Cheyenne does not have a lot of nice dining options.  My advice, come on a Monday or Tuesday, drink a bottle of wine, then order your food.  You'll have a great time.

We are new to Cheyenne and based on past reviews, gave this place a try.  I ended up with food poisoning. Believe me, we won't be back. Ever.

Good place to eat!  Pleasant exterior with lots of parking.  Interior is nicely appointed, albeit somewhat dark and dated, but well-maintained and clean.  Wait staff was pleasant and efficient.  My wife's chicken dijon was tasty and met her expectations.  My bison steak was prepared to order and very tasty.  Poor Richard's is on the east side of town, but worth the trip if you happen to be staying on the west side.

The hot bacon dressing is delish. Sometimes the salmon is good, sometimes not so much. Sweet little restaurant, but not my first choice in Cheyenne.

This seems to be a fairly common locals recommendation.  I've been for dinner.  It's fine - not many (or any) real veg options.  I had salmon, which was nicely done.  You get the soup n' salad bar with your meal for a small extra charge, I believe.  Salad is iceberg lettuce and the regular gang of toppings.  I found the service somewhat lacking, but friendly enough.  I just find that the soup n' salad bar is somewhat declasse and out of place here.  And I am no snob.  Am I remembering correctly or is this like the Steak n' Ales of my childhood?

Never a bad meal here.  Nice soup and salad bar.  Steaks done to perfection.  Mango-raspberry cheesecake to die for.  Quiet enough to be able to carry on a conversation.
