I was visiting family, and my sister said we were going to Porkys for Sat dinner, OK I like BBQ and this is the place to get it. And if the name of the place is Porkys you cant go wrong, right? Right!! Its like a fast food place but the food is fantastic, the fried pickles alone were worth the trip from NY. It was Sat so brisket was the special, the meat just melted in your mouth it was so moist and good. The fried pickles, addictive!!! better than potato chips.  It is nothing fancy, but the food is fantastic and the prices cant be beat. All I know is whenever  I come to visit family again this is a must stop.

We went to try the cheeseburger at Burger Basket, Porky's was across the street - they serve barbecue, I like barbecue - next thing I know I'm at the drive thru window at Porky's. Since I was already there, I ordered my usual - a Chopped Barbecue Sandwich, and a Chili Dog - consistency is not always a bad thing.

Pork remains good here - moist, tender, mild flavor - no rocket ships or flares - but good. The Chili Dog also remains good, but I'd change the wiener - wrong size, wrong texture - Go Red, or Go All Beef - in between is no man's land in the dog world.

Sanitation Rating needs some work - just saying.

    Ain't nothing fancy here.

So you best be taking your longin' fo crisp white linens an fine china elsewhere.

This place here's a simple pig shack.

Lip smackin', finger lickin' porky goodness.

Accompanied by slaw (choice of red or white), the little piggies are just delish both as a sandwich or just as a heaping pile. They offer both sliced and chopped with sauce if you want it, served on the side to do-it-yourself. Nicely smoked, if I can't get here on my visits to see my folks, I at least stop by and they kindly pack up a pound for me to take back up north with me along with a quart of the white slaw (they are so nice to throw a pile of little condiment cups full of sauce in the sack for me too).

Oh I've probably had better BBQ, but I like coming here just for the good food, reasonable prices, friendly service and simple atmosphere of a local joint. Their menu is pretty extensive with other options (chicken, fried seafood, etc..) but I just get the pork.

Two other items though always seem to make it on my order, and I've even been known to just swing by and get them for a snack. Neither reheats well. So you can't save a few to have with your leftover pork. Believe me, I've tried. Fortunately, they are so good that the little paper serving tray is usually sitting sadly empty at the end of a meal.

Fried pickles - Slices lightly coated in some type of light cornmeal batter and tantalizing your taste buds with their sourness, this little guys are amazingly addictive, particularly straight out of the fryer and with a little ranch dressing for dipping.

Hush puppies - I am a serious hush puppy addict in need of a support group. I just love these, with a hint of onion in them and a dash of salt on top. Mmmm Mmmm good. Me want more!

They serve breakfast here too. Lots of items and combinations listed on the menu and I'm dying to get in here to try a few one of the times I'm down here.

Note: The drive thru is not always the best method of getting take out from here so I usually park and dart inside as the counter service is very efficient. Also, Porky's has some odd hours, particularly on Mondays and they were already closed at 9:30ish on a recent Friday night when Mom and I were in scavenge mode.
