I have been to this location many a times. Always a great choice. The salad bar and Texas toast is always fantastic. The best place to grill a steak in January and February!!!

The cook your own steak gimic is great but the true star of the show at this place is the meat. You won't find a better steak anywhere in janesville and to anyone afraid to cook your own just let one of the chefs do it! Bon appetit!

I've been to Prime Quarter multiple times.  The first thing you'll notice upon entering the restaurant is this amazing smell of burning Kingsford charcoal.  I love the smell of charcoal, as it takes me back to happy times.

The next thing you'll notice is the decor.  When you walk through that door, you've just entered a time machine and you are transported back to 1985.  While some people consider the decor "dated," I think of it as unique and actually enjoy it.

Take a seat and let the waitress know what you're going to order.  My wife is not a fan of steak, but I am.  So when we come, I order steak (which includes the salad bar) and she just orders the salad bar - which is probably the best salad bar in Janesville.  One helpful hint is that the cost to order 1 steak + 1 salad bar is more expensive than ordering the "share a steak" option.  So even though my wife does not eat steak, we get the share a steak option and save about $2 vs. her ordering the salad bar ala carte.

I've never come here with a large group of people, but if I did, grilling my own steaks would make for an interesting experience.  Instead, I have always paid the extra fee to have the chef cook the steak for me.  It just doesn't seem right to leave my wife at the table while I go cook my dinner.

All in all, I enjoy this restaurant very much and will continue to patronize it.

Cook your own steak, good quality meat, and a fun experience. The kids like being about to grill their own steaks and texas toast. Solid salad bar. I like to enjoy a large Leine's tap while grilling, especially in the winter when it can be 0* and 2 feet of snow around the grill at home. We usually get the filet and sirloin steaks, and the 40oz Beef Eater contest when up for the challenge. For $20 you get a regular steak, salad bar w/baked potato, good value.

Prime quarter is okay.  I'd rather go elsewhere.  This is why:

Cooking your own steak might sound fun, but consider:

    1. Everyone at your table will be up and down and you likely will be eating at different times.
    2. Not everyone's cooking skills are equal so each person's finished product will vary.
    3. The meat refrigerators are opened and closed constantly by patrons and staff.  Check for freshness.

I've not been to any other cook your own steak restaurants but this concept does not impress me and I don't see the attraction.  I'd prefer to be waited on when I go out or to stay home to cook my own steak.  Yes, I could have paid extra for the cook to make it for me but whats the difference - meat still comes from the same fridge and the rest of party is still off cooking their own.  It's just not what I go for when I go out.

That said, this place is decent and what you would expect for the local area.  The staff is friendly.  The restaurant could use some updating.

The Ribeye and desert were awsome and the price was very reasonable. I don't know anywhere else you can get a steak this size for the price and quality. Also get the mushroom burgundy.

Kind of your typical cook it yourself steak house. Not bad, not great- the meat was decent, but not spectacular. I had a rib-eye, if that makes any difference. What I saw in their cooler was not spectacularly marbled, but usually with a pretty good fat pad still on the meat.

Also of note - while they have beef and some fish, I think two selections, there's no chicken, to the detriment of a friend who did not eat red meat. Our hypothesis was that undercooked chicken = bad, especially when you have customers cooking it. But if they want to offer to cook your steak for you - just make cooking your chicken for you mandatory. Then they could keep raw chicken juice from running everywhere, and eliminate stupid people eating raw chicken. I doubt their seafood was sushi grade - probably just as bad to have that served undercooked, and they certainly let customers cook their own fish.

Plus, at a $20 flat price, it might be a tad pricey, considering you *are* cooking it yourself, and the meat's not spectacular.

The cuts of meat are humongous!  I didn't realize when I went here that you could cook your own meat.  But it ended up being fun.  We chatted with the other BBQ-ers, had a couple of drinks...it was pleasant and kinda relaxing.  The salad bar is awesome.  Almost too much food to eat.  But it was very good.

If I want to cook I'll stay home. They charge extra to cook your steak for you. The meat was not even restaurant quality and the grill was so cool it took 25 minutes to cook a filet. The only redeeming quality was the salad bar. Will not be going back.

I have never experienced cooking your own food in American dining. This is a steak place where cuts of steak are stored in a see glass doored fridge where rib eyes, new york, sirloin and filet mignon are awaiting for you to cook them. After getting your choice of steak there is a 10'x5' charcoal grill just waiting for you to throw your meat in. You can cook your own meat or have a chef cook it for you for an additional charge of $2. But I prefer to cook my own meat and drink my beer while i'm bbqing. The price comes out to be $25 and the cuts of meat range from 10oz. filet to 40oz porterhouse and 20-22oz rib eyes, sirloins and new york. Since I made it it was damn good. Oh and the beer of choice is definitely Spotted Cow, only made in Wisconsin.
