Proud Larry's is one of our go to spots for lunch, dinner, drinks, and live music. It's our neighborhood pub and can feel like your best friend's living room some nights. Our kids love it, my parents love it and I always recommend it to visitors. We love the pizza and salads (grilled chicken is my favorite), and the specials are unique and tasty using fresh local ingredients and plenty of imagination. Go for Brunch on the weekends too. Larry's does not disappoint!

Inexperienced bartenders do not make conversation and ignore your empty beer for 10 minutes. Sends a guy around to collect cover from paying customers who have been there all evening. REAL classy.

Okay real life, this is the worst restaurant I've been to in Mississippi. And I live here.

I was with a group of about 8 on a Sunday afternoon after the church crowd had left. Our waitress, Rose Mary, was terrible. The food was terrible. Even the soft drinks were flat, and they still charged us for them. Two members of our party had charred hamburgers, literally black stuff was falling off of them. The dressings all came on the side, like most places do, but on our plates they gave us the end-pieces of tomatoes. Like seriously, who does that? Also, for your hamburgers that already cost $8, they charge you $1 each for cheese, $1 for onions, and $1 for anything else you wanted to add on your burger. ABSURD!!!!!!!!!
In addition, the waitress had forgotten to put in an order for my boyfriend, who had to wait at least 20 minutes to eat after the rest of our party had gotten our food and were finished eating. The waitress STILL charged him for it. And then when we finally left, the entire kitchen was being cleaned in the front room. We could see the kitchen staff cleaning slime and gunk off all the equipment. It was sickening and disrespectful that they were doing that when there were still customers in the restaurant.

But what really irritated me was the fact that no one was in the restaurant, our table was the only table she had to wait on. And I asked for a bottle of ketchup twice. I never got it.
And when we finally got our bill, we were automatically charged with 18% gratuity (like most places over 8+ people usually do). I was enraged. Had I not been with a group of friends, I would have demanded that we get the meal free of charge, but I didn't want to make a scene. I mean seriously, I would have not given our waitress $2. Overall, I was appalled at the service, the food, the price of the food, and the dirtiness of the restaurant. Definitely never go here. Go to Old Venice, McAllisters, or somewhere else where they respect customers.

This used to be one of the main music venues in town and they were the best Oxford bar for a long time but they have gravitated towards more of a restaurant focus than a bar/music focus.  Summer used to be a fantastically fun time here but on a recent visit they were closed by 10pm every night I was there.   They have a tiny little patio you can sit at outside and they make decent food but sadly it seems this place has its better days behind it when it comes to music.

This is one of my favorite spring/early summer lunch places. The patio is a great place to sit and soak up some sunshine while people watching and keeping cool with a beer. I am not one for fried food but I crave their sweet potato fries dipped in honey mustard. The appetizer portion is big enough for 4-5 people to split as a meal side.
The Garden and Mediterranean calzones are wonderful and full of flavor. I usually split one with a friend. If I order my own I always end up taking more than 1/2 of it home to munch on over the next day.

The food is middling in quality and the drinks are standard fare.  It serves a largely college crowd and caters to this population  in its menu selections, drinks and music.

love this place, one of my favorite haunts in oxford.  a great place to see a show, and a great, laidback atmosphere and bar.  however, the reason i rated it so low is due to the food.  i will say that i've not been since 2008, so this definitely may have changed, but the food, in many experiences i've had over the years there, just misses the mark.  i've tried most things on the menu, searching for the right dish, but have never been impressed.  it's not awful or anything, just far from being great.

Best bloody Mary in town. Never eaten here but I've heard the seafood pasta is good. Always crowded and has a small patio.

I learned to drink beer at Proud Larry's.

This speaks to a lot of things that are great about this place - large beer selection, lots of cool ones on tap, and a safe environment in which a newbie can expand horizons. (Note - I was of age - just a latecomer to the beer party. Larry's checks IDs, as any institution on the Square does.)

The casual bar food is usually a hit. My favorite was always the quesadillas and pizzas.

Proud Larry's manages to book some of the best acts coming through the city, and supports the very vibrant local music scene well.

If you're coming through Oxford, whether for a pilgrimage to Faulkner's grave, a visit to campus, or a football weekend, Proud Larry's is the perfect stop to complement your experience with true local flavor.

Like all bars in Oxford, Proud Larry's is a restaurant/bar/music venue hybrid.  Due to the crazy blue light laws in this Mississippi college town, food must be served at establishments that serve beer and alcohol.  These hybrids come and go quite easily, but Proud Larry's has remained a staple of any Ole Miss student's social life over the years because it maintains the perfect hybrid balance.  The menu consists of affordable, tasty food: pizza, calzones, pastas, salads, burgers, sandwiches.  The bar has a good variety of beer (bottle and on tap) and liquor, including specials like $1 Dos Equis. The bands that play gigs at Larry's are local and/national acts that include Beanland, Blue Mountain, North Mississippi All-Stars, RL Burnside (RIP), Modest Mouse (FYI: They recorded 'Good News for...' in Oxford at Sweet Tea), Cory Branan, Drive By Truckers, Medeski, Martin and Wood, etc.
