HELLO THERE 99¢ MIMOSAS! $3.50 to build my own Bloody?? YES PLEASE! Decent food, awesome bar service. Our bartender's name was Sarah, and she made our first time trying this place great enough to come back again. Dog friendly, cool game room, live music. See ya on trivia night, Baker St!

This place was great until they changed the menu.  They got rid of tons of good sandwiches, burgers, etc so that they could add frozen breakfast items.  Fail.

Good work Baker Street, how stupid can your management be to screw this up?

I'm a fan! I honestly have never had to much of English food and I felt like coming here is a start. The times I have gone it, it has not been over crowded and I have not had the chance to experience them during their live music! Most of the time, I go and sit at the bar. All the bartenders have been great. Very attentive and super helpful! Very knowledgeable of their beers they have on tap and allows tastings of them (which for me is great! I am not a beer connoisseur). I've stuck mostly to the Fish and Chips! Their Chips are seasoned nicely and the fish has always been fresh and hot when they come out! They use American Cod and its delicious.

I've done their regular table service and I do have to agree with some of the other reviewers, their service is a bit spotty and all over the place. The waiters and waitresses have been extremely nice but you sit yourself and sometimes it can take over 10 minutes to even get water sent at the table. The tables that are assigned are all around the restaurant, so its hard to get their attention. Its inconsistent.

Other than that, the food is good and reasonably price. Some items are a little to high but that is what you get for eating out. The location is convenient and the resturant is very clean.

I've been here a handful of times. The food is pretty decent for bar food. The bar service is fine.

However, I went earlier today to grab a bloody mary and a quick bite and learned firsthand how the table service got such negative reviews. We came in and ordered drinks at the bar (not knowing if we wanted a table), then proceeded to find a table.

Ten minutes later a server appears, "Oh, did you already order drinks?"

I replied that yes, we did, but wanted some food. She took our orders and disappeared. Twenty minutes later (as we're thinking our food is about to come out) she returns, asking if we wanted to order anything. She had never even SENT THE ORDER.

Half an hour later, our food arrives, cold. And brought to us by a different server, who clearly wasn't distracted by whatever was taking up so much time on a super slow Saturday afternoon.

Our server returns once to fill our water glasses, never asked me if I wanted another drink, and when it's time to close out I have to flag down the other server to find ours. Ugh.

Look, I've been a server. And a bartender, I know it can suck and things are not always your fault, but pure negligence is unacceptable. If I ever come back here (which is likely, given that it's right down the road), I'm avoiding table service at all costs!

I don't know why some reviewers gotta be so hard on poor Baker Street! My review might be bias considering my close proximity to Baker Street but, I truly love this place. The food is pretty good a little pricey but its good. The only reason I take one star off is because when they have live bands you can't hear yourself think consider that before you hit them up on a Sat. They do have an awesome patio though so you can get away from it.

Their bloodly Mary bar on Sunday is so worth getting up on time for! Your hangover will thank you! Trust me :-)

Baker St is a nice place.  The interior is well done, there's a beautiful outdoor patio and the food is decent pub food.  There's something like 35 different beers available and the servers were quite friendly and competent.

We went there for a Sunday open mic show.  The show itself was very well run and the talent level was pretty high - overall better than any of the 5 other open mics we visited over the course of a week.

    There was one major downer-

The open mic is held on the outdoor patio, which as mentioned before is nice, but they allow smoking.  Lots of smoking.  Did I say a lot of smoking?  That's an understatement.

Even outdoors it was unbearable.  We left once our table was surrounded on 3 sides by chain smokers.  The 4th side was the parking lot.   We tried finding a semi smoke-free place to stand & have a drink while listening to the music, but the smoke was everywhere.

We were with another couple who were less smoke tolerant than us.  They left and ate at the restaurant next door while we tried to stick it out.

I would recommend the indoor part of the restaurant for a beer or decent snack.

I would recommend to the management that they reconsider their smoking policy for the patio.  When everyone on the patio is smoking, it's not because you're  doing a good job of attracting a smoking clientele - you're driving all the others away.

The service can be spotty, but overall a good pub.

Good fish and chips, good beer selection - it's not going to knock your socks off, but I doubt it will completely disappoint either.

I LOVE Baker St.! This is one of my favorite go-to spots when I wanna have a good time over dinner. They have a really awesome draft beer selection and good cocktails too. I also love their food. They also usually have a band  playing and have never been disappointed with what I hear. My roommates and I live just down the street and have spent many a meal at Baker St. and I highly recommended it.

I love this place. It has a great atmosphere and food.

One thing that makes this place great is the people who go, and Ricardo, one of their bartenders. He is really tentative and great with customers. :)

I like the Baker St Pub.  It's close to home, they've got good food, a good patio and the drink specials are reasonable.  Try the pulled pork tacos, they're my favorite item on the menu and they go nicely with a summer shandy.
If there is a shortfall, it's the service.  Sometimes they seem pretty uninformed, I don't know if that's poor training or high turnover.  However, I do like the location and the food and the Baker Street Pub is usually at the top of my list when I want to have a drink and a bite with friends.

One of those places that you go to for the chainey nostalgia that some of us have from growing up in small towns littered with Red Robins and Olive Gardens.

When we started going there right after they opened, the drinks were strong, the mozzarella sticks were appropriately stringy and the servers were nice.

Now they've slowly whittled down the menu taking off delicious fried item after fried item, and the servers greet you with a surly stare.

One visit post Mardi Gras I had "the nerve" to return a fluorescent yellow "Hurricane" because it looked and tasted so sad.  The bartender sent it back to me saying he'd made 300 of them the day before and I didn't know what I was talking about.  Surprisingly that didn't turn me off but the 45 minute wait for a burger a few weeks ago did.

Bye bye Baker Street, we're breaking up.

I have always been a fan of this place. My boyfriend and I live down the street so it's always a go-to stop for us and the service has been decent.

That is until we went on Sunday for a St. Patrick's Day lunch. I understand it was a busy day for them...but they advertised for it, so they had to have known it was going to be busy. We waited 15 minutes to be greeted, another 15 min. to get our drinks. My friend then ordered a second beer and it took our waitress 20 minutes to realize he didn't get it. We then watched her walk over to the computer to put in the order. After being at the restaurant for an hour and a half with 1 drink each, no food, and requested to speak to the manager 3 times to 3 different servers, we decided it was time to cancel our food order. The waitress did not apologize once for the delay of food, drinks, and overall service. Every table around us was experiencing the same issue. We heard a table complain to the manager twice and they still had not received their food once we left.

I have worked in many busy restaurants so I more than understand the stress, but when our waitress didn't even have the respect to apologize, show any sign of remorse, or send a manager over, it put us over the edge. I will definitely think twice about going to this restaurant again.

We've returned many times since I left a bad review. I have to say now that it must have been a bad day, different kitchen staff or something - every time since we've had nothing but great food. It's now on our list of good family restaurants that we regularly visit.

So, I'm part of a SUPER COOL group of people that come here some Tuesday's for trivia and get rad prizes for being so smart.  Here are some points worth noting about this perfectly fine neighborhood pub/bar/chain place.
*First off, it's a chain.  Nothing wrong with that but, kind of lacks local 'flavor'.
*Being we're in Austin, Texas, they DO have local type food favorites. They just kind of suck.
*They have a decent amount of Austin/Texas beers on draft and the prices are reasonable.
*They have happy hour specials on their Beers/Drinks and meh food.
*If you sit at the bar, obviously you'll get great service.  If you sit outside at a table.  You may have to send a search party for your server.
*If you come on Tuesday nights, your group/party/table may be subjected to the swingers.  Seriously.  It's like a sea of non attractive awkwardness.  You may get eye raped.  You've been warned.

These things said, it's not a bad place to go by any means.  There are just WAY better options.  As long as they have trivia on Tuesday's and none of my friends get roofied, I'll probably still come here.

I've always liked this place but I was there on Sat night and I was drinking at the outside bar. After keeping an open tab, the bearded barman (my receipt says Pat, but I am sure he told me a different name)  told me that if I didn't close my tab an 18 percent tip would be added for me. Fair enough.

So the end of the night comes, I ask for it to be closed and he gives me my recent. I have only orders four beers for my group and glance at the tab without really reading it. I ask if he has added a tip and the guy says no. So I give him a tip from my wallet and it wasn't until I got home I realise he had already added a tip to my tab when he closed it. I know, I know, I should have checked.

But the kicker is, the check was for $22. He then had added an extra $6. A 25% tip plus he then had the extra I had given him.

The money doesn't matter, I just hate the dishonesty and being lied to. I wonder how many other people he does this to?

The food is surprisingly good. Best BAR food I can think of in town. ( unlike most bars that have some ramdom food truck parked next to it - that may or may not be open- sorry folks I just dont get the food truck thing). The service is consistantly pretty good. I don't like the cover bands they have- its not  just my thing ( unless I am already drunk, then I am more ok with it), but they have a big patio where you can escape the music. I like the dart boards and the drink prices too.

We come for drinks on the the patio every Thursday. Unfortunately, lately that means we have to tolerate terrible service. They used to have some great waiters out here (JW & Marc for starters) but I haven't seen them in ages. It's like someone keeps hiring girls that have a hard time spelling their names and equate a drink order to a MENSA exam. Getting tired of waiting half an hour to order a drink, and getting food in a reasonable time is laughable. Wish there was another boozy patio within walking distance to the spoke for our weekly routine. I don't know how many more weeks I can tolerate this decline in service.

    There's 3 reasons I come here:

Courtney G the best server they have

    Trivia

    And mad happy hour specials.

Every other time I've given this place a chance servers dont wait on our table, we''ve been ignored. Until this place gives me better reason I'll only be back on Tuesday night's.

Nice outdoor patio, comfy seating, great drinks at the bar, decent beer selection, tasty apps....what more could you ask for, other than maybe Jenny L's sparkling company? Oh, what's that you say? Go on trivia night and you get her too, you say? Well, then that's the clincher! Makes the trip down there totally worth it!

I'm sure you know by now that this place is pretty much just a silly franchise and not really anything close to a British pub (Blimey!) , but it still has one ace up it's sleeve - Bloody Mary Bar on Sundays! Really, from open till (says three) they put the stuff away. It's the biggest Bloody Mary bar I've seen in Austin, they have like six different tomato cocktails, multiple flavoured salts (bacon? but no celery?!), an insane amount of olives and other pickled goods, and the biggest selection of hot sauces I've seen outside of a hot sauce factory. Of course there's the old standbys as well, Worcester, olive juice, pepper, celery, and just about everything else one could think of. And the best part? You pay $3.50 for the vodka and DIY the rest! I made some of the best BMs of my life the other day, although I did pay for it later in the evening in another form of fiery BMs.

They offer 'British pub' food, but it mostly doesn't appeal to me because it's almost all meat based. The chips are good. And by chips, I mean actual chips, because they call the chips 'french fries' which is confusing because they also have a fish n' chips that actually does come with fries. I'm so fucking confused. Stick to one side of the pond, people. The fries were good as well, nothing great, but they also have some tasty sweet potato fries as well.

The best part of all the fried things is they serve them in these little fake newspaper basket things with a little space for ketchup on the side. Kinda clever. Except like, why not just real newspaper? You could import it from Britain even. Righty-O.

If not for the Sunday BM special, I'd probably never go here and I'd rate it much lower because it seems to be mostly only slightly above say, a Chilis or something, so if that's what you consider fine dining than this place should be awesome for you. They also have a gigantic back patio and I guess they have sports on TV if that floats your boat.

Very nice deck with decent beer selection and happy hours. Quite dog friendly. Never had any real problem with service as others have mentioned. Food is so so and you are ok if you you stick with pub grub staples. Most times I go there are one or two people that stand out from the rest in some sort of undesirable way, just sayin.

I literally have spent the last 30 minutes trying to scratch my brain for something great, or something terrible, to say about this place. I find neither. This review is about as interesting as the place. I can say this with confidence. The service is never lacking, and the Scotch Eggs is a great dish.

Not where I would go for lunch...I have once or twice and the service was bad and the food was just ok. AMAZING HAPPY HOUR!! Great specials, large selection and the service is pretty quick. Baker St. is  open until 2 a.m. and the kitchen is as well!! Maybe not the best food in the world for the price but after a few drinks with friends in a fun environment its great. I would get more of the bar food options the wings and pork sandwiches are very good!!!

I think I need a separate review list for the UYE's I attend, because the company I am with can most definitely raise the rating a star. And this one was no different! It was for Jenny''s moving UYE part 3. Gotta say that out of the 2 of 3 I attended, this one was more fun. Part 2 was a tough act to follow though!

I took a good look around when I arrived and I was impressed. Impressed enough that I would drive there from Cedar Park and plan to soon. Very spacious patio and deck, with a full bar outside too. We basically took over 3 tables and we had a great waitress. She was worked hard and I hope everyone tipped well. To keep my beer full she was really paying attention. I appreciate that, since my hate of conflict makes me too passive sometimes and I can be easily ignored.

The apps I tested were quite good, loved the quesadillas and the home made chips (thanks Errol!). I do plan on sampling the fish and chips next trip out.

There was adequate parking although I did arrive early. The management needs to fix the rain guttering, as it sprayed all over several of the chairs/tables in the patio and that should be easily fixable....

All in all, it was one of those nights you want to go on and on!

I wish I could remember the servers name who treated our table like gold.  If it weren't for her, I would not be writing a review about Baker Street.  Not like the food was terrible, but it was nothing worth noting.  The tap beers were pretty decent, as were the happy hour specials.  But this server, she was so polite and incredibly friendly to the two little ones at our table.  Plus one of the managers brought them balloons.  Really?  Yah, that gets a return visit, even if our food was just decent.

Stopped in here for a drink after Trudy's was too busy for them to remember we were there...

Nothing special about the location (strip mall), and the decor is the only thing English about the place, but...

Great selection of beer and liquor, and excellent service from the bartender. She was friendly and good at her job, and we'd definitely stop back for a drink.

This is a restaurant where the server and day of the week make all the difference.

First trip - slam packed, amazing waiter, speedy service, HUGE cobb salad, and overall fun filled dining experience.

Second trip - slow service, slow night, HUGE cobb salad, cold fries, boring server.

I have only eaten a salad here, which was huge, full of veggies and chicken, perfect for the $8.
We came really just to hang out and have a drink, chit chat.
The crowd was fun, and the drink specials were really nice.

I will be back, just hoping my server will be the guy from my first trip.

This bar has so much potential that it does not live up to.

Good things: Great out door patio. They allow dogs their and even have dog treats, water and food for them for free. I don't own a dog but Austin is pretty dog friendly so it works. Wide selection of food, liquor and beer. great happy hour prices. They also have a big connect four and big jenga you can play. They have a really good bartender by the name of Ricardo I think. Only bartender/server that will actually greet you and shake your hand. Decent bands play here from time to time too. some really good bands play here even though its dead. I feel sorry for the bands on those nights. Plenty of TV's to watch sports.

Bad thing: The service is no bueno. I have been here many times. every time I go the service is beyond bad. I once waited at a table for 20 minutes. I am not lying I actually timed it to see how long it would take to be waited on because of a previous bad experience. When the waitstaff greet you it seems like they are bothered by you showing up in their section (which I don't think they have sections). there is only one bartender that will greet with a smile, the rest look at you and say what do you want.

Man I really like this bar because of its convenience and the great stuff I mentioned earlier. But PLEASE fix the service! I want this to be my neighborhood bar but the service is not letting me do it. I will try again in a couple of weeks and see if anything has changed.

I've been to Baker St many, many times since it opened. It used to be the Old Alligator Grill, then the space got picked up by the Sherlock's Pub corporate family (numerous throughout TX, CO, and OK). So it's a chain pub. Nothing wrong with that. So is Flying Saucer. It all comes down to how it's run as to whether it's worthy or not.  Like many big neighborhood pubs,  Baker St. has it's ups and downs and you never know which one you'll get on any given day.

Overall, it's big but still cozy, has a big outside deck that seats MANY, with TVs, comfy chairs, mostly picnic tables outside, coffee tables, etc. inside AND outside.  Also a pool/game room inside. They have 6 TVs spaced around the inside + 2 @ bar + a large screen by the music stage. That's pretty good. In the million degrees heat of an Austin summer day, outside isn't as popular, but it crowds up in cooler times.

From day one, I've thought the cod strips, cod fish and chips, etc were delicious., always arriving hot and crispy and lightly battered with flavorful cod, even today. The tartar sauce is really good too.  I've settled in on the cod strip "basket" because I don't need chips aka, fries. I've also had their Reuben and Club sandwiches and can vouch for their quality as well.

During crawfish season the place is packed on Thursdays for the weekly boil!! $5/lb, spicy and tasty. Yes I've eaten my share of crawfish. Almost my entire family hails from the New Orleans area. I stand by my "tasty" call as will numerous other friends who consider themselves picky about their crawfish.  Baker St. has a guy come in with a van who cooks them up outside. You might need to be aggressive with finding a server when it's crowded, but once I've set up service I've had few problems even with a dozen people in the group. When it's crowded things move more slowly, no surprise there.

This is a popular place for large groups, especially outside.  I've had meetups here inside with up to 15 people and it all went fairly smoothly even when it was crowded. Regular music brings them in at night too, and they have respectable bands.

The bar has about 35 beers on draft, many local brews, some English pub faves, and some of the usual domestic offerings for the less venturesome. Tuesday features $3 local beers, mighty fine offering for the quality that they have on hand.

So this is South Austin and as such, Baker St. has S Austin clientele and staff who all contribute to the laid back atmosphere, which I think makes it far superior in many ways to its N Austin neighbor. At lunch today, six old guy regulars at the bar eating lunch.  Every day at happy hour features regular faces of all ages and both sexes plopped on their regular stools.

At the same time, many S Austin establishments too often have this air of indifference which makes absolutely no sense to me if you're trying to sell drinks/food and make money. Why would you keep a server/ bartender who isn't overly effusive and helpful to any customer. It's like saying to a customer "I don't want your money, I'd much rather hire this fence post to look cool and ignore you." (But alas, that's a complex discussion for another day.) Baker St. is no exception.  I quit coming here entirely for a few months because I was tired of waiting for service AT THE BAR!  To this day I come by only once a month or so mostly to meet friends who have picked it as a meeting place for happy hour. It's OK for that, It's fair for certain food items, it's not bad for some music if you're in the neighborhood.

All said, I'm giving it two stars (meh, i've experienced better). I'm pretty sure I'll be back, just not that often, unless it's crawfish season!

I've been to this place a few times and it's never busy... is it me? Or is this place perpetually slow?

Their patio is nice. Not a great view considering it's location, but it's ok. The service isn't bad. It's not mind blowing, but it's not bad. The food is everything you'd expect it to be. It's just kind of meh. I guess it's trying to be an English pub, but it doesn't really have the personality of one. It needs to try harder if that's what the idea is.

Not a bad place to hang out, but I would make sure you're with entertaining friends or it will get old quick.

There wasn't anything I disliked about this place, I just can't think of a reason why I'd come here on my own. I've been here several times with other Yelpers, and it's as good as place as any to go for a DUI. Incidentally, these Baker Street Pub places have as much to do with Sherlock Holmes as I have with being a Zumba instructor.

So yes, it's another corporate version of what we apparently want as the all-in-one neighborhood bar, beer pub, sports bar, and fried food restaurant, and there's a whole bunch of alcohol choices and daily happy hours for you to indulge these whims. This particular South Austin Baker Street is large, roomy, and has a great outside patio, and they brought me an iced tea with the same alacrity as bringing pitchers of beer. Cool.

I actually spent my last visit here comparing Baker Street to The Flying Saucer in the Triangle: The corporate similarities in the layout and food & booze are easy to see, but what I found amusing were the tiny little traits that still seem to distinguish North Austin from South Austin. For instance, if Flying Saucer is a tad more trendy hipster, then Baker Street is a tad more laid-back slacker. If the formal Flying Saucer server attire is the schoolgirl look, the formal Baker Street staff attire is straight from the t-shirt & shorts catalog. And if your normal Flying Saucer customer looks like he knows his fine art, your normal Baker Street customer looks like he knows his body art. Okay, I could do this all day.

I've never boozed at this Baker Street, and the only thing I've eaten is the chip/dip Trio thing, mini-bowls of queso, salsa, and a spinach dip - not bad stuff at all.  FYI, there's a Kerbey Lane next door and a Torchy's across the parking lot. But I've not been with anyone who's actually complained about the food they've ordered from here, especially if they've settled in for some serious drinking. It doesn't take me or a fictional consulting detective to figure out that may have been the corporate plan.

Walking into Baker St. gives the feeling that you are about to experience a legitimate Irish pub. The decor is inviting and bar is fully stocked to include multiple beers on tap.  We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was about 25% full so we decided to sit at the bar.  Ordered the traditional fish and chips to see if the authenticity of the food matched its surroundings.  Sad to say, no.  Both were soggy and the chips were clearly frozen and not fresh, something you would expect to be better prepared in this type of establishment.  Interestingly, at first just the fish was brought out sans chips.  We asked a passing waitress about our missing spuds, and she responded with, "Oh, it's not my problem."  Hmmmm.....

Bartender was nice enough and saved them a star with her good attitude and responsiveness.  We may go again since it is within walking distance from home, but perhaps just for drinks next time.

    Would we go again? No.

The four stars are for the happy hour here.. And this place just happens to be within walking distance from mi casa.  My boyfriend and I are regulars here on Sundays (happy hour all day) and the bloody Mary bar is to die for!  Salmon stuffed olives.. DELISH!
Overall the food here is eh.  I mean if your in the mood for okay pub food then you will be happy.  And the service here is 85% shitty but if you sit at the bar you'll be okay.
Overall it's a good bar to have close to home but not anything special.

Fantastic patio with tons of parking, lovely interior with great decor, very good beer selection and drinks with lonng happy hour times, and very solid pub grub: what's not to like?

To be perfectly honest, we didn't love all of the music we heard during our meal. But I feel like a giant snob saying, "I'd like a little less DMB with my fish and chips." But that is my only issue. Smooth jazz is a dealbreaker for me; DMB may be hard to take but it's a trade-off.

We sat on the patio and kvelled at an adorable pug puppy another customer brought. Baker St has a stack of stainless steel bowls so dog owners can provide water for their pooches. That rules.

I loved the local and global beers - very good list.

Our server was great, she was obviously busy with a huge party inside, but she took the care to come to me before she brought out my Cobb salad and asked if it would be a problem if the kitchen already dressed it. I had asked for dressing on the side. I appreciate that effort and accepted the lightly-dressed salad (which she brought with dressing on the side). Decent Cobb, though I would have liked more almonds and avocados.

My husband got the fish and chips, which like Ron said, are very good. Craveable, even. We may have to go back monthly or fortnightly for them.

I'd love to know what the DMB-free zones are at Baker St., or if that stuff is just peppered into their playlists throughout the day. But I should probably just suck it up, as the patio, beers, and food are too good for that to be an issue for anyone other than the biggest music snob (which I ain't).

Baker St's Fish And Chips have turned into a smallish facsimile of their former selves. I am only writing this update because there was a recent Talk thread on where to find good fish and chips. Baker St can be crossed off the list.

The 2 pieces of cod are now smaller, cookie cutter identical and coated with a thinner batter. Cost cutting changes being made so soon? I sense trouble. At least I was able to have the better versions a couple of times.

Service was horrible too with our waitress taking off for long stretches of time when she went to fetch refills. Someone else even came by and took our check.

I can no longer recommend Baker St.

A little piece of N. Austin or Dallas mere minutes from my house.   The beer is good.  The fish and chips were nothing to write home about.  I got kicked out (asked to leave) because I was "slurring."  Not too happy about that...I had 1 beer and was working on my second one.  I guess these cats aren't used to a W. Texas accent.

I'm not gonna lose any sleep over my dismissal...too many shiny shirts and silicone at 5 P.M. for my blood.  C'est la vie.  Time marches on.

P.S. (I've definitely been kicked out of a lot better bars than this joint)

Ok, I know they just opened, so I'll write an update in a month or two. Yes, the place is generic menu-wise, and decor-wise. But I'm happy to see a new pub in the 'hood, and the location next to Half Price Books is great. The downside is the day we were there we were told they were short-staffed, and I'm wondering if the kitchen help was a no-show. The fried potato chips were overcooked in old peanut oil, at least that's what they tasted like. Inedible. They got our main entry orders wrong on two different fronts, but apologized profusely, and ended up comping part of our receipt, which was appreciated. I was glad to see some local brewery favorites like Live Oak, but my husband went for Newcastle, I tried a Shandy which I had in Ireland, and liked alot.

My take on the music:  awful 101X crap that teenagers like. In a room full of 30-40 year olds.  Not a match made in heaven.

So, they are more than a little rough around the edges, but hopefully with good management they will straighten out their grand opening problems. The nice and responsive servers mostly made up for the problems we encountered.
