Puerto Vallarta

Nice service...decent food...fun atmosphere.  I normally order the Veracruz plate, but the paella, fajitas and burritos jalisco are also faves.  The only things we haven't enjoyed are options with ground beef.  Stay with chicken, steak, pork or seafood options for more flavor.  Must get the cheese dip ... and a margarita will round out your experience.  I enjoy this place and am glad it came to town.

Fast authentic Mexican food.  Great place to grab a quick lunch  at the same price as a fast food joint nearby.

We were headed to Joe's, but they were closed on Monday, so we went to Puerto Vallarta.

Simply put, everything comes out of a box or a plastic jug at PV. Not much difference between what you could pull out of a microwave late night at a convenience store. Salsa was pureed and straight from a jug. Nothing fresh there. Tortilla chips were the same. Fully processed and fortified with preservatives. No guacamole. We were told avocados are not available in Jasper county, which is likely true, but not an excuse. Make a run for the border. . . county border, that is. They got my order wrong, but never returned to the table to actually ask how our meal was. Guest ordered a quesadilla. It came drenched in a chemical cheese wash with no evidence of a single fresh vegetable. A meal should come with a vegetable.

It would be worth it to drive to El Rancherito in Olney, IL, or Los Jardines in Robinson, IL. Effingham likely has palatable Tex Mex there as well.
